  1. VRTP are the biggest in Australia, of course they will have the largest voice. There are also many who have been affected in a positive way and come out the other side with more money ready for a holiday. How is this an argument against VRTP? They have an app for queuing already, they are able to open up and still keep some of their unrequired or reduced hours staff on Job Keeper. If staying shut means they are getting stuff sorted out or future proofing, by your own argument, VRTP have got their stuff sorted and have future proofed. VRTP pass holders are getting a 4 month extension, longer than the parks were closed. I would say the vast majority of holders are locals who will be able to use it again immediately, with the northern NSW tipped to be July 1st or July 10th. No real advantage to anyone there. You're also banging on about VRTP being irresponsible for wanting the government to lighten restrictions but they are no where near the only company or industry doing so, or anywhere near the most vocal.
  2. With the right marketing / media representation Dreamworld could put a positive spin on the story showing the "safety innovations" the new ride has ect ect. If you get (pay) the media to spin the story in a positive light it will be generally well accepted. After announcement, it will be forgotten about until its built. Once its built it will be out of the media cycle after 1-2 weeks, when a Kardashian kills someone else or a federal election is called and Mr Murdoch wants to control the outcome again.
  3. Who was the bloke that did the No Limits render for Rivals? Wonder if this is his work
  4. Using the 4 square metre rule we will know exactly how big each park defines themselves as (at least the public areas)
  5. I would try my hardest to. My partner often forgets and will stand too close to someone, and the boy is either strictly following or thinks hugging everyone is okay.
  6. https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/projectors-home-theatre/home-theatre-projectors?product_list_order=price Free shipping on orders over $300! bargain!
  7. I agree with everything you said, except the GL comment. GL is perfect utilisation of space. Fitting such a compact coaster in that spot is great and it doesn't need to interact with any ride or area as it wraps around itself enough and there are plenty of viewing angles of it. GL next to DC is an awesome view from the carpark and highway also. But yes, Superman and Arkham leave a lot to be desired.
  8. There is a throwaway line at the end of that story that sounds like all queues will use the VRTP App for the virtual queues. Like everything else in the world, I wonder how this will change Amusement/Theme Parks in the future, post COVID. If that requirement stays, parks won't require a queue allowing people to see more shows, buy more merch and food and rides won't require as much space. (Obviously need a queue for the next 20-30min of guests)
  9. Also, sitting in stationary seats, easily separated from others is no where the same as lining up, then being packed onto a rollercoaster train or a flat ride. Compare like for likes but theme parks are not a like for like here. Cinemas and Stadiums, sure go for it.
  10. Australia Zoo is more or less passive also. They have had to stay open for staff to feed, care for and clean the animals during the shut down. That includes continuing to do their presentations and enrichment activities as the animals are used to it. Additionally a lot of the staff at Australia Zoo are actually volunteers. Allowing public just lets them offset some of the costs and being to the zoo many times (6 year old loves it), the whole zoo has large open areas, and the stadium always has many spare seats. The only areas that would need more work are the transport buses around the park, the otter and tiger shows and possibly the snake enclosure but only QLD locals attending would mean they should be fine for now.
  11. In my complete lack of creative Vision, I would use the V's similar to how Marvel introduce their name with the comics flashing up as videos in the letters before becoming a solid red word. With the parks, using iconic video and imagery for 2-3 seconds, like dolphins jumping, the HWSD2 explosion, WWF, Mammoth Falls splash down ect Further they have 6 V's and 6 Parks or attractions so it works.
  12. @joz Not saying they think they have ruined the parks but its super rare for anyone to out win a rose tinted view of what the parks were. I think its smart staying away from trading on that and instead using their recognisable logo and company name. Remember this is also an ad for Village Roadshow Theme Parks, not for Movieworld, Sea World, Wet N Wild or the other one. Yes, you're right, they totally need to find a better way to incorporate the 4 parks names/logos into the end screen. I'm no ad man and creativity isn't my strong point so I won't suggest what to do. I also do really appreciate these level headed discussions. Working from home is doing my head in.
  13. That nostalgia only works if you were lucky enough to have a family who could afford to go take you to the parks as a kid. Additionally, hows that nostalgia trip working out for you? Pretty much everyone complains that "The parks were better back in the day" so that would be a negative advertising perspective. Better off using a nationally recognisable brand (albeit less in the spotlight for the last 10 years) that doesn't trade on 'the better days'. I'm not saying they have done a great job or there isn't more they can do, this ad to is a start. There is a long way to go to build an iconic ad. I'm also really really really happy they didn't say "we're in this together" or something about the "unprecedented times" Final point. Yes they don't say who he is, but he is a well dressed dude on top of the rollercoaster, and then talking directly to the camera talking with ownership over the parks, hes clearly "Someone important" and thats all the general public really cares about.
  14. So my take, to me growing up in the 90's, a lot of the VHS I watched, started with the Village Roadshow V's flying in, so to me they are iconic and nostalgic. With time and a good marketing strategy Village Roadshow Themeparks as a common brand could work, but its a bit of a mouthful. The 6 syllables don't really roll off the tongue. Having Clark as the face of the company is a great idea though. Lets not forget generally speaking, Australia (and the world) is racist and hes white. Clark is also objectively speaking, not bad looking, and could speak clearly while still holding onto a strong Aussie accent, which helps international markets. I assume thats his family at the end? Makes sense for an ad like this and could work for other styles / targeted ads but not something I want Village to run into the ground.
  15. What about Jet Rescue? Also good to hear that the engineers are still permitted to enter the country. Obviously just takes longer (and I assume they get a 14 day quarantine holiday).
  16. They better hope it stands up to traffic too. These guys a posting all of this over their social medias so anyone who searches that tag will see the pictures.
  17. Those plants will look good in 3-4 years time
  18. Depending on the size of that, it looks really cool, but I think perspective is at play here and looks a bit bigger than I hope it is.
  19. In my example, expanding towards paradise country would be when WWF is knocked down so they could fill in, or develop the water reservoir. Ideally in that example they would do something similar to whats happening at SW where they drop large expenditure and do a whole area.
  20. I don't think they are opening it though, which makes sense. Its the low season anyway. As much as those numbers are high, as discussed they won't get anywhere near it anyway since tourism in QLD is restricted currently to people within the state.
  21. If they really wanted to maximise their space without "moving" they can try and turn the car park into a 3-5 story car park creating a lot more space + they could build and "office tower" of how ever many levels they are allowed / need to move offices into a centeral location and reclaim building space from those areas. Finally, not sure how possible this would be also but they could expand backwards towards Paradise Country, albeit with a bit of a redesign such as knocking down Wild West, and moving the car park. Pretty sure they Lease that bush area.
