  1. Waited at Movie World today for a chance of a soft opening (but also did some rides)... No luck, but yeah, it looked good and sounded amazing (you can hear the sound outside the building/studio). Dammit, I have work all day tomorrow.
  2. Just wait... those corkscrews... does this make this slide Australia's first looping tube water slide?!
  3. 1.5 million? Ok, well, I underestimated Auckland. Gold Coast has just over 600k residents, but probably has a lot more tourists.
  4. It's really good to see our Australian theme park company investing over seas. Hopefully, though, they don't lose sight of their original parks. Wet 'n' Wild New Zealand? FREEZING! Geezus
  5. ^ Sounds right to me. And that would probably be if it was running at perfect capacity/operation, which is probably a bit of a stretch. The capacity could be increased if they have a station similar to Scooby's where two pods load at a time. It'd almost halve that '1 minute' load/unload and take it to a reasonable 870 or so. I'd be happy with that. We never know what they'll do yet. If capacity sucks, then hopefully the queue makes up for it and has a lot of theming to keep you interested.
  6. Deleted because to be honest it has no relevance whatsoever and a post shouldn't be wasted on someone's stupidity. So, back on topic guys? I haven't checked the thread in a while, has there been any confirmation of the capacity of this ride?
  7. Funny thing is, this is the one ride where I could see a referb/retheme working... With the mountain from Kung Fu Panda and all.
  8. Let's say that a program attempts 50 passwords a second (which is a legitimate amount for a program), then that would still take just over 36 years. Facebook will lock you out after so many attempts also. Let's face it though, this is a theme park forum, not a hacking forum. I don't think Dreamworld was 'hacked', I think it was just one of those 'OMG YOU STAYED LOGGED ON SO I 'HACKED' YOU' moments where someone, who was unfamiliar with the Facebook UI just decided to press a button. The offer did say that it came from Dreamworld's page, after all.
  9. Regarding the $2 lockers (and needing more if you go over a hour), they will still open ONCE if you do exceed the hour in order to get your stuff out. It won't shut and open again. And, if it doesn't open after the hour (which it will), you can just contact Guest Services. Note to open it after the hour, you have to select the 'end locker hire' and not the 'keep hire'.
  10. & You can renew Gold at the gate.
  11. Also, all theme parks have the whole 'no sueing us for any injuries/death/loss of property, even if resulting from the negligence of staff'. If there's a problem, I think the person should have to sue the manufacturer? Or no one at all? I'm no lawyer, I have no idea. And recently the new back boards make it so that most people do, in fact, make it right around. I made it right around with some speed still at the top of the loop.
  12. That, my friends, is why Disney parks make billions and billions... The animatronics look as if they were pulled right out of the cartoon! So, not life like, because hell, they're talking cars, but so fluid and natural.
  13. Village's VIP pass has gone DOWN $10 (when buying online, still $109 at the gate).
  14. Talking about things being let go, I haven't heard anything about WhiteWater World since... uh... the few ads for Wedgie back in April of last year? It's like that California Adventure 10 year video (in the Off Topic thread for all those who haven't seen it) and how it's like "oh that park over there? You just imagined that". How does it expect to compete with Wet'n'Wild at its current size/marketing. Have they just given up? Every time I look in at WhiteWater World (well when I used to, because I no longer have a pass), they had next to no one in there.
  15. I think this thread's title should be just changed to 'Everything at Dreamworld closing down/going away'. Goldie the Clown was made redundant and will no longer be at Dreamworld.
  16. Maybe Village planned it this way all along? Think about it... It becomes obvious to Village (as it was also the same as their own plan), that every 3 or so years each park added a new major attraction. Last year was that 'year', where we got BuzzSaw, Shockwave (and later on, Dreamworks). So, they all open their new attractions, then, without Dreamworld really 'expecting' it, they keep opening new attractions, catching Dreamworld by surprise. Just my reasoning
  17. Great post by Benjamin (who I assume is Slick?) on Facebook. For all those who haven't read: Food for thought guys, but seriously, what the hell is management up to these days? The Captain Sturt joins the rank of three other standing but not operating attractions. As a fellow AALARA industry member and an avid fan of the park it saddens me to think that with the current progressive thinking Dreamworld is displaying (or lack thereof) will eventually wipe Dreamworld off the map. The way you seem to operate your park these days seems to benefit the shareholders more then the park-goers, and while this short term, narrow-minded mentality may pay the bills, the lack of long term investment, innovation and passion is killing your once iconic brand. There's a reason why Dreamworld hasn't won an award in years, and it should be ringing enough bells to your team that a shift needs to occur in your thinking. Your primary competitor Movie World, despite what the status quo in the current economy suggests, is spending big money on an amazingly great, long-term vision, and it shows through the current park infrastructure and attraction addition, which is world-class, that they mean business. Meanwhile, you're shutting down the very history of the park that has made it great for the past 30 years and continuing to add, at best, mediocrely underwhelming attractions like BuzzSaw. And it's highly likely I won't get an educated response from this, and no disrespect by that either, as it is after all Facebook, but I'd like to think of this post as just one of many people who are actually looking at your current vision and thinking "what the hell?" and hoping management actually do something about it.
  18. Another of Dreamworld's original attractions is now closed. Dreamworld commented this on Facebook: "The Captain Sturt is just a display piece now, as the old girl is tired of lapping the river." It really wasn't that exciting anyway, but it was a nice calm attraction for families with small kids.
  19. There's a new attraction opening at Dreamworld, this Summer. I doubt it will be the Po garden thing, because that's meant to open before then, isn't it? And this seems to be unnamed. It can be seen on the home banner at www.dreamworld.com.au. Wonder what it could be. Maybe they have not announced what it is, so that people buy passes, then it's just a Shockwave replica.
  20. I won't be renewing my Dreamworld pass.... I wouldn't mind paying $109, just, there's nothing new to be excited about. I hate to say this, but I'm bored for Dreamworld.
  21. It's lookin' good. I think this may be one of the best themed attractions we've ever seen at Movie World. Glad to see that there are already 3D aspects in the architecture of the walls, rather than a plain 2D walk pass.
  22. If you have such an issue with these forums, as you always express, why don't you just leave them? Why do you keep coming back? Or if you feel as if you're being attacked when you post, why do you keep posting? There's plenty of other theme park forums out there (TPR, CoasterForce, etc.). I just don't get why you'd keep coming back to something you openly dislike. I for one love the new trains. On my first two days of riding it, I found it slightly painful on the legs (but much better than the headache). The headache/ear ache lasted for a few minutes and was so painful that friends would not ride Lethal Weapon at all with me. The leg pain, I'd simply stand up and it'd go away. After maintenance, I found that the leg pain actually got better (didn't hurt as much). During some of the tight turns/loops/barrel rolls the harness did not press in as much. Overall, I'm willing to give a little pain for a great ride. Hell, even on Superman I experience slight pain with my neck sometimes knocking against the thin harness.
