  1. Word is they want it open, but they’re ‘waiting on insurance’. If that is the case, and it continues to take longer than expected, I reckon they should make that clear & have it closed with no known reopen, instead of delaying dates like other parks do/have done.
  2. Yeah, doesn’t seem to me like it’s gonna open in 2 weeks.
  3. That’s a great outdoor space for their larger species. What I mean is a small-ish building (whatever fits the space), with some separate tanks. If you’ve been, think like Australia Zoo or Wildlife HQ’s Reptile House, but with a more cohesive theme, and for smaller aquatic species (smaller fish, eels, starfish, etc) instead of herptiles.
  4. I think I said this last year, but unironically a proper indoor aquarium (not Sea Jellies) would go a long way for SW IMO. And that plot would’ve been a great place to put it. That, or the space they’re wasting with the new warehouse.
  5. Yeah, the eggs are definitely a creative idea for park merch, I was just surprised to see the sign about its award. Also, yeah, just any more merch that’s noticeably ride-related and good looking would go a long way (I’ll keep saying it, they’ve done the cutout for Levi w: coasterdynamix, at the very least collab with ‘em for Rivals, Superman, or upcoming projects).
  6. Not maintenance, just a general thing I noticed on my visit. Did anyone know they got this award? Cause I didn’t, didn’t even know AUS parks had any real presence at IAAPA, but they’re advertising it. (Leviathan Eggs)
  7. They’ve started doing work at the old station area, with new wooden beams being drilled into the side of the elevated section. Assumedly, these are railings to extend the new pathway further (perhaps unfortunately).
  8. not a dig at dw/vekoma for having claimed this for JR, cause it’s clearly very different than the one that’s gonna be featured on it, just something interesting that i came across
  9. It’s almost cute, in a way, that they think people are actually hyped about Flash’s opening.
  10. Yeah, they each have their benefits & downsides. Superman’s works because of the anticipation before the launch, succeeded by a sharp burst of acceleration. Steel Taipan’s works because it spruces up an otherwise subpar/generic layout with an interesting, ‘unique’, & surprisingly forceful element (this applying to both the twisted spike & the swing launch, as they hit rather hard for a Mack LSM, especially when using the spinning seat). But, if a coaster successfully maximised the experience of one launch type, then retroactively got the other, it’ll inevitably be hard to justify the change, especially to those who prefer the experience of the first launch type. Again, a similar scenario only worked in Steel Taipan’s favour because the previous iterations of the layout were generally considered stale and lacking in force, so the OG launch program that usually occurred had it’s removal welcomed instead of criticised, as it barely did it’s job as it was.
  11. That’ll be real nice to see once the theming begins, seeing how the concept art compares to the real thing.
  12. A full-on thematic ad campaign (vids & stills, like Levi/New Atlantis), most likely. But more construction-related stuff (like the tour video they released before the coasters went vertical) would be cool.
  13. More information on the Flash is due to be released in a video tomorrow. (Source: Movie World’s Instagram)
  14. Wonka & AI-generated content have a weird kinship ATP, so it was a pretty instant write-off for me. Did forget what day it was for a bit, tho.
  15. An OG Mickey Mouse cartoon scare maze that kinda has Bendy & the Ink Machine vibes, with Roxy Theatre playing Blood & Honey, actually doesn’t sound too awful. If only they cared enough to change enough for something like that to be a possibility.
  16. That was what I thought, but the installed bases for the seats look identical to those used on the old Surfrider train, at least to my understanding. If it does turn out to be the case that they slap on the old seats instead of getting updated lap bars, Movie World really is floundering hard.
  17. The tie-in movie comes out during the holidays of this year, and the live musical’s running in Brisbane a few months before. Yes, it’s an old IP, but it’s one that’s held the test of time, and is hopefully about to become more relevant again. The same can’t be said for a lot of past (or current, Flash…) themes.
  18. I guess the difference is that Sky Voyager & Sea Viper didn’t operate at the same time, and were systematically very different rides, so likely wouldn’t be brought up in the same conversation as much as Jet Rescue & Jungle Rush might be. So, for the instances that they are bought up in the same topic/conversation, having the distinction then would be helpful.
  19. Yeah, that’s the right picture. Does look like it’s been properly unbolted instead of just torched, though. Still, at least that’s a photo that shows the change.
  20. Also, the ‘counterweights removed’ claim doesn’t seem to have been posted by TPSN (unless they deleted it), the post seems to be by the Gold Coast Theme Parks account. The attached photo doesn’t have the new black mesh, which GCTP specifies in the caption, so *maybe* it’s just old photo and someone’s observed differently today but hasn’t bothered to take a photo yet. If so, we’ll just have to wait til there is one. ‘Til then, not proven.
  21. What counterweights? (Reference image from maintenance last year, taken by TPSN)
  22. Also, Movie World has 3 coasters to commission post-theming & the like are completed, when they currently can’t do basic maintenance on one within less than a 2 month timeframe. The last coaster they commissioned took literal years to complete. They’ve had a new coaster SBNO since the start of the year, with vertical construction taking about week or 2 & theming taking 3+ months. If it opens sooner, that’s that, but them completing vertical construction on the coasters themselves before Dreamworld has for their coaster doesn’t guarantee either outcome. Even if they’re completely able to open before Christmas holidays, it’s likely they’d hold off on opening til then nonetheless (though, hopefully, this time they’ve learned from Levi & soft-open at least a couple weeks before the official opening day).
  23. (From Movie World’s socials) Having Intamin involved with the ride vehicle is interesting, could that mean new trains after all? Might be why they replaced the LSM’s, to realign with the new train after deciding to get it after-the-fact? (spitballing)
