  1. I don’t doubt that Motocoaster or Shockwave fit the themes that they were going for when they were built, my point is that those themes don’t fit into the general aesthetic of their areas, or the park itself, anymore. I’m struggling to think of the right words, but they’re not as ‘polished’ or ‘timeless’ as Dreamworld are going for. Flyer’ll still be an inoffensive ‘classic’ themed ride in 20 years time, Taipan & SV’ll still be ‘modern/bland’ & inoffensive, Rivertown’ll still be inoffensive ‘jungle’, etc. But Shockwave & Motocoaster are showing the outdated ‘grittiness’ of their theming, and they’ll continue to do that as time goes on, unless something changes. Bear with me here, cause I really don’t know if this’ll make any sense at all, but I kinda see it as most of Dreamworld’s trying to be like a halfway decent Samsung Galaxy/Google Pixel phone. Maybe SV & ST are a newer iPhone, and Wiggles/ex-KFPL are a cheaper, budget, ‘babies first’ phone, but they’re generally just similarly inoffensive designs. Then, Motocoaster & Shockwave are more like an old Motorola w/ a sliding keyboard. Yeah, they worked when that was the norm, and there’s people who still prefer their look to that of what’s currently popular, but they’d generally be seen as outdated & in need of an upgrade.
  2. It’s not ‘nostalgic’, but it is ‘modern’ & generally inoffensive. Yes, it doesn’t fit with the section it’s facing, and the old Dreamworld Theatre facade did fit said area more. That said, it’s far from as ‘objectively horrible’ as it’s made out to be on here, especially now that it somewhat fits in with Steel Taipan, and at the very least it meshes with their updated aesthetic much more than these two do:
  3. Oh, so this is like a full-on rebrand, then. Not necessarily surprised, but it’s interesting. Don’t yet know whether I prefer this logo over the older one, admittedly the font is nicer & their clear inspiration from the park’s original logo (w/ the name placement & miniature park above the globe) are nice touches, but the non-text details being completely white is throwing me off a bit. In the case that it is a full-on rebrand, I’ll wait ‘til I see the physical sign at the entrance to judge it outright, but hopefully that iteration adds some colour back to the globe. It’s definitely more in line with the direction the park’s going now, though, opting for less ‘aggressive’ branding & more nostalgic/modern touches. The only things left to update now are Motocoaster & Shockwave, unless I’m forgetting something.
  4. 9News story featuring Big Red Boat Coaster’s trains: RPReplay_Final1699957370.mp4 Perhaps more importantly, though, what’re they on about? Someone in the newsroom was either joking or heavily misled. Next up, Jungle Rush was modelled off Orphan Rocker.
  5. If any park needs light rail connection, it’s Sea World. The TX7 bus takes 10 mins tops to get you to straight from Helensvale station to Wet & Wild/Movie World, whereas the Sea World bus pinballs between 28 stops before reaching SW (including Harbour Town) & takes 45mins on a good day w/o congestion or unfortunate traffic lights. And G:link can already get you close, it’d just need a fork up The Spit to be viable.
  6. You may be thinking about the ex-Bilby enclosure that’s now occupied by them, and the Fat-Tailed Dunnarts that are adjacent to the new Bilby enclosure. But yeah, Currumbin’s was moreso what I was thinking w/ a reptile house, though there are other similar examples (mostly outside of Australia, but, for within, a facility like the new Taronga reptile house would also be feasible).
  7. True, for the smaller indoor species, though they’ve currently got them in the aforementioned nocturnal house & Discovery Centre anyway. What I was thinking was a not completely enclosed, specialised building for larger indoor/outdoor species, like the more modern reptile houses found elsewhere in the world. If they weren’t to do reptiles, though, they’ve got decent crowd gatherers in Platypus, Echidna, Wallabies, etc. that they could potentially acquire if they wanted to. And, if done right, they could hypothetically just replace it with a ride of some kind, it’d just be harder to make it make sense.
  8. Honestly, the way that it is post-Flyer, Sky Voyager’s not really an eyesore anymore. Yeah, it’d be better if it was themed with the rest of Main Street, but if anything were to be redone I’d vote Motocoaster much sooner than SV. I’m also hoping they do something with the Vintage Cars plot post-relocation. Something that entices guests to stay longer in that side of the park, like they’ve done with the Bilby Discovery Centre & nocturnal house reopening. Might be too niche or unlikely, but I’d love to see a well themed reptile house.
  9. Spot the ‘Karen’: And no one’s saying what you can & can’t say/do, but if what you’re saying isn’t agreed upon, irrational, and/or easily explained against, the nature of literally any impartial public speak means there’ll be people who don’t agree and attempt to rationalise/explain it. It’s happened to literally everybody on here before, you’re not being oppressed. Welcome, and if you’re still pissed off about the forum not being a complete echo chamber, hope you find what you’re looking for.
  10. You’re right, a bumpy plank ramp (aka ‘headache’ before rain, ‘slide’ after rain), with railings conveniently located at the exact head/neck height of a wheelchair user, is a much better decision than what they currently have.
  11. Gold Coast Bulletin doesn’t offer a free trial, nor are any of its articles not hidden behind a paywall. Also, in the time it took you to type & post that, you could’ve easily screenshotted or copy-pasted the article.
  12. Seriously, IMO it should at least be considered common courtesy to not post links to ‘news sources’ that’re paywalled atp. If it’s a relevant story that’s worth talking about, and you’re the only one with access to the article, it shouldn’t be too hard to just copy/screenshot the relevant portion & state the source’s name, instead of hinting at what’s relevant & linking the paywalled site.
  13. 100% forgot that the streams aren’t linked to the Key, cause it’s just the exact same thing they were trying to do with the Key, except isolated to TikTok & without the idiotic premise.
  14. Which is fine in this case, ‘cause they’re the exact demographic to go for, as they’re the only group of people inept enough to buy into this obvious quick-buck NFT bullshittery. Like, even with these ‘new perks’, you’re getting the useless opportunity to purchase tickets (at no discount) 1 singular day early, to an event that won’t have any day sell out for at least another couple weeks, plus a nerfed version of the discount Dreamworld already bundles in with their passes. Apart from that, it’s just a rug pull like the rest of ‘em. You try build a community with ‘special Key holder-only streams’ & that, to make holders feel like their useless JPEG’s are special at an absolute minimum additional cost on your behalf. Then, once you’ve got the money you wanted from the endeavour, you dip ASAP, leave customers in the dust, and sink all the money into Doomsday’s 57th ‘unscheduled maintenance’ of the year, just to deliver inferior products in the future ‘cause you’re strapped for cash yet again. And the only people stupid enough to fall for it, are those who see their Facebook ads & ‘techy’ buzzwords and buy into their ‘future of thrills’ jargon, no questions asked. AKA, “boomers trying to be with the times”.
  15. What does that actually mean, though? Like, they’ll be another roaming character in Main St?
  16. I’m sorry, what? Preferring a better immediate view of the ride over a view of the Globe first is fine (though, I think the general consensus would be opposite, especially for social media purposes. And it’s worth noting that concept art is *art* depicting a *concept*, and therefore almost always differs from the final product), but I don’t even know what you’d need to be to use the accident as justification for wanting a slightly different viewing angle of an entirely unrelated ride.
  17. Could be the case that it changed alongside a lot of other things in the park, then, when they switched ownership ~2020.
  18. Yeah, figured that it was similar in reasoning to Superman, which they also generally just run the one train on now.
  19. Sorry, and I’m guessing you’re just joking, but if you’re not then a better term’d be ‘experienced’. ‘Cause, while not explicitly making you ‘old’, being *older* means you’ve been attending the parks longer, and therefore could see them change & evolve much more than the younger user base has. I don’t remember Sea World having a SkyWay, I just remember them having a SpongeBob-themed main island. Don’t remember Viking’s Revenge, just their advertising for a SpongeBob 4D movie in the castle it was built on. Don’t remember Sea Viper, or Gremlins/LTRR @ MW, etc. Despite going there often when most of these existed, because I focused on other aspects due to my age, I just don’t remember them. All I know is that they existed, and the general thoughts about them, solely ‘cause of those that were lucky enough to experience it themselves. Anyway, did it used to run 2 trains commonly? And if so, roughly when did that stop, if you know?
  20. I think I’ve seen it run 2 once, but it was a bit ago atp
  21. I think the texture of the screen itself has just become much more noticeable.
  22. Probably the exterior, merry-go-round facing wall shown here, which’ll serve as a sign for the ride, ‘station building’, and (hopefully, at least) a clear obstruction to differentiate Ocean Parade from Wiggles. Then again, at the same time they’re doing this, they’re moving the ‘Play School Wheel’ to be nestled right beside Serpent Slayer, so they may just not care.
  23. Some relics from ABC Kids World seem to be being stored in a lot adjacent to Steel Taipan. Whether they’re there for repurposing, or they’re just waiting to be used for scrap & that’s a good dumping ground, idk.
