  1. To be clear, the Lair is the part that includes the glass above your head (in a "cave") that Tigers often lie on? A 10m x 10m grassy area with a big rock in it? Yeah fond memories of that area. Where else can you stand under a tiger?
  2. Speaking of theming, looking at those pics we're going to have to get a LOT of theming. I know they promised a lot in that regard, but look at the SDSC fire escape, the brick toilet block, the Show Stage/SDSC gap. They really need to put in a lot in addition to Doomsday. I hope they either "fill" the space or leave designated/promoted space for another small DC Villain attraction/flat ride for 17/18.
  3. Agree with you Joz. Keep Central and Corroboree, open one at Blue Lagoon's replacement. They could keep Rocky Hollow if they plan to keep the confusing zigzag of ramps and stairs back to Gold Rush.
  4. That looks like the theming from inside Giant Drop when it first opened.. Every time I ride the train/see videos such as T-bone's I long for Dreamworld to expand into Blue Lagoon/Big Brother and add another station on the line.
  5. The next Thor movie will be filmed there, from memory. Makes sense wanting more security for filming a Blockbuster. Means the new ride entry moves back to the GL/JL area? Making 1 ride for the Western area, and 1 ride for the DC Villain area? Hmm..
  6. An extended Maurer Söhne SkyLoop occured to me today as well, but there's not that much room for one in the footprint already established for the works.
  7. That would warrant removing the whole Western area (or what's left of it), and re-theming a significant part of the park (WWF through to SDSC/Harry's). I wouldn't put it past MovieDC World. [EDIT - WWF change is unlikely, why did they go to the trouble of moving the gravestones to the are between the Stage Show building & WWF before the demolition?]
  8. The DC Movies coming over the next 5 years are plentiful. VRTP certainly have this in mind: 2016: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Suicide Squad 2017: Wonder Woman Justice League, Part 1 2018: The Flash (Unrelated to the TV show). Aquaman Batman (Affleck) 2019: Shazam Justice League, Part 2 2020: Cyborg Green Lantern Corps Others are rumoured, such as Legion of Super-Heroes and another Superman movie.
  9. I'm all for moving the Tigers anywhere further away from rides. Pandamonium is probably too close to them, but I guess Avalanche was there before...
  10. So with Doomsday and the 'mega' coaster, no sign of family-orientated rides out of VRDCW for a few years? Sooo: Family? "Go to Sea World." (Or Dreamworld) Personally I'm keen on the coaster (and Doomsday if NOT just a carnival ride).
  11. ...just said that myself. So, they're going to link AA to this area somehow? Walkway around behind SDSC? Maybe the new Coaster is DC Villain andthe station is Show Stage/behind SDSC and leads out to the front of the park as reanimated said last year? Somehow travels over/through AA, SE and JL out to the swamp out front? [EDIT] Ha Ha, I should finish reading threads before posting. AlexB and I have the same thoughts on this. Because all the DC rides at Movie World are comics-based, not movie based. Might start calling it VRDCW now.
  12. Stormwater or sewage. Won't be a wet ride, not with WWF just around the corner.
  13. Yeah it wasn't an Oscar Winner.. Just trying to think if a tall ride goes in, how to Western Theme it, if dmh is correct.
  14. Perhaps the "88%" dmh was referring to was how complete the designs are for the theming of the attraction? If the Intamin (Spinning Star?) thing is correct, maybe we'll see "Cowboys vs Aliens" or something. Or a Steampunk aerial "contraption", Wild Wild West inspired.
  15. They're Imported from Japan. They can't be integrated with the other Tigers yet in case they've carrying an infection. A month long Quarantine.
  16. That's what made me feel like I was in a Movie World in the 90s. Actors as part of the rides/attractions. As seen in the video on Page 15, Gremlins ride had three: One Actor to welcome you to the viewing cinemas, one to save you and get you to the ride and the one dressed as a cop at the unload point (ride op sometimes acted too - my toddler brother was upset at the Gremlins and the ride op said "we'll get you to safety kid!"). Most of us know LTRR had a minimum of 3 (ride ops acted too). For example, Police Academy recruiting audience members before the show began. My mum was approached by "Captain Harris" (wearing a microphone) who asked her: "Ma'am, are you enjoying your visit to the Police Academy?" "Yes." [chuckle] "Not for long. Proctor! Recruit this woman!" One part of the Park I terribly miss, and the last time we spoke about this on the forum was what prompted me to post after returning to Parkz. The video on P15 has in the final few seconds the walkway, confirming what @djrappasaid, the unload/container/cop car area was to the south of the roller door, where the generator is now (behind the 2 men in the photos on P14). You can clearly see the discoloured corrugated iron wall covering the old Gremlins exit.
  17. Agreed, reanimated. Show stage should have started coming down as well by now, not just the facades carefully removed. Expecting the show stage to be part of this new themed area, not the Western area. If the new ride does go in behind this show stage, my thoughts on the entry near the relocation of the gravestones/WWF's smoking area stand.
  18. Things I'd like to see in the Gold Rush area: Re-do the stairs and ramps between Gold Rush and Rocky Hollow. Too confusing for infrequent visitors. Expand into Blue Lagoon and theme it Gold Rush as well. Even if not demolishing Big Brother Auditorium, that's a massive increase in area. The train ride around there serves no purpose other than visitors seeing SBNO attractions. Gonna be bold here: Demolish & replace Eureka Mountain. Going by the pics from the tresspass, it's too far gone. I'd love to see a brand new Cart/Mouse at DW somewhere, maybe even in the Blue Lagoon takeover. The Mine Cart is one of the best ways of doing a Mouse. The Mountain isn't really a signature feature of that part of the park from the outside any more, BuzzSaw is, then big trees behind that. The footprint (keeping in mine part of the Rapids ride travels underneath) is big enough for a decent non-coaster ride. Maybe something with height that can add to the skyline of the park from the carpark/M1. Eureka was a fantastic ride, well themed at the time, loved the corner bringing you out into the daylight and implying you were about to fly out into the lake. A Mine Train coaster or Mine Cart coaster (like Indiana Jones at Disney Paris) would go well, especially in replacing Eureka Mountain. Leveling Blue Lagoon would give plenty of room to build a new mountain that could incorporate two to three attractions/rides. Add a saloon.
  19. Just taken. All buildings to the left of the walkway alongside the Scooby building now gone [snip] Looks like the road between SDSC and show stage allows the trucks to enter/exit via the main studios gates. This allows uninterrupted access to the site during park hours, unlike a site contained within the park making heavy vehicle access out of park hours only. Therefore I'd expect a fairly short work timeline for whatever attraction actually goes in here. This is of course depending on whether the show stage stays or goes.
  20. Google maps shows a road in behind the facade between SDSC and the show stage. Probably for the truck removing the demolished buildings to access the area?
  21. So, going by the "make of it what you will" post by savvy14, and the associated demolition photos, a new themed area is definitely happening. This means that the Western Area (as now solely defined as the area with the coloured ground) will in future be able to support just one attraction, WWF. UNLESS, the new rollercoaster goes in behind that show stage, with the entry being where the designated smoking zone is next to WWF. As it is the grave stones are being relocated to that pathway, so maybe 2 Western rides? I can't see "Main Street" stretching from the fountain all the way to the new ride at the Demo site/show stage, as another DC ride would really be out of place over there. Does the footprint of the current demolition suit this "non-coaster" ride? Going on how DW can squeeze in rides such as Claw, Shockwave, Tailspin and Pandamonium, I say yes, meaning the ride may not need the show stage building. Maybe it can be part of the Coaster (station) as suggested already by Parkz members. Yes, air conditioning people were apparently working on the old show stage building, but does that mean an attraction will be in there? Were they removing the aircon as part of demolishing the area?
  22. "To reduce the strain", yes, add more rides. But I want this expansion to be Eastwards (apart from the potential ride near SDSC/WWF). To do this, the car park should be reduced in footprint by making it a 2 or 3 level carpark. This may affect visibility of the park from the M1, but the foliage along that road has almost done that already for the southbound lanes, and trees on Entertainment Rd has almost done it for the Northbound Lanes. I do apologise, having been away from Parkz for almost a decade, but is the new external entertainment area going to be similar to entertainment areas such as Universal's City Walk, or Disney Village at Disneyland Paris? That can pull some 'locals' from the park itself.
