Wow, so much can happen in a day (interesting things always seem to happen when I'm away from home, as in this case - down the coast at the moment). That's pretty pathetic of Huss to get all touchy on a simple issue. I originally put the "Ten Ferris Wheel" as the caption (more technically, Richard did) since that's what it's pretty much called at the show. After all, it does have the huge Ten logo on it. But yeah, Clint's right... does it really matter who manufactures/operates the thing anyway? ... 'Nuff said, Liam

Monday 19th April, 2004 Today was a living hell. It was my first day on this model, and I made little progress (despite spending more than 4 hours on the thing!). I came across many problems, the motor being the main headache. However, I have completed the motor, finished the base of the station and am now half way through the contruction of the car. I have found that the instructions are very vague, they are simply not detailed enough in where it's needed. Here is an attached picture of what I completed today. The photo is fairly large in resolution, but fairly small in size (somewhere around 200-400kb). In this picture you will see everything I constructed today (including the insanely small wheels!). Trust me, it's a lot more work than it looks.

That's probally because I posted this well over a year ago, and that the file is now long gone

Construction has started on my Faller Free Fall model tonight. There are 409 parts, excluding the motor parts & wires. Every night I will post photos of what I put together that day. For now, I have attached a photo of all the parts that came with the kit. Expect the first update later tonight.

I just spent 4 hours in the city, and ended up going to Hobbyco. Since my birthday is coming up within the next week, my brother agreed to buy me the Faller Freefall model. It looks like a pretty big task (409 pieces!), but I'm up for it I'll be doing a construction log as I progess.

My review & photos are now up. Check them out here. My thanks go to Richard for taking the time to put them up

I'll have to disagree with you Sydney lovers. The city may be nice, but what lies 20km from the city is a lot left to be desired. You might aswell call Western Sydney (fairfield, cabramatta) a run down crap hole. Theres a lot of things that happen around my area that am I not proud of - I've been the victim of a group of lebanese/assyrian/whatever that tried to "roll" me and just last week there was a drive-by shooting down my street. I've only visited Melbourne once (back in 2000). I'm sure that these kind of things do happen in Melbourne too, but I did notice one major difference - they say Melbourne funny! Seriously, the community seemed much more friendly than it is here in Sydney.

Hobbyco in Sydney sells a majority of Faller model kits for a reasonable price. I currently have my eyes on the Faller Freefall, might get it for my birthday

^ Yeah, Mega Drop was awesome - it's now my #1 drop ride! I have recorded the count-down sound from my video, listen to it here. I might aswell mention that I have written a review, edited a video & taken 20 or so photographs of the show that will be put up on roller-coaster.com.au soon.

I think Nightshifer is judging by what he saw last year at the show. Slingshot wasn't there this year. However, I did see Dragon's Flight (if it really is) located in the Kids Carnival area.

I'd rather not. Chances are Tuesday night will be extremely crowded because of the deal.

Worst. Thread. Ever. Back on topic - Seeya!

^ I can only dream The Cliff Hanger at the show is the Dartron Cliff Hanger as seen here. I'll be attending the show tomorrow from 11am till close. I'm really looking forward to the show. Rides is obviously my first priority, but for the first time in my life I'm actually looking forward to going to the exhibits and shows. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is stepping into the show bag pavillion - chaos! I'll be taking pictures & high quality video of the rides, exhibits & shows which will be edited into a music video. Look for that in the coming weeks!

I really don't see why everyone seems to think that Bounty's Revenge is such a great ride. To me, it's a brain busting piece of junk that hurts you in so many areas. If the restraints were replaced with something more light weight, or "hands-up friendly" then it would be a tad bit more fun. I really don't enjoy being suspended up-side down for more than 10 seconds, let alone having my genitalia squashed to the point it becomes 2D. Unless you're Bounty's Girl, you have no hope of retaining your pieces of joy. I would love to see HMS Endeavour go somewhere in Australia. I don't know if it's a pain in the maintenance department, but 90% of the time it's a pretty fun ride. They're trying to sell the 2 woodies? But I thought Beastie was in a "non operational" state, Daniel?

I was thinking about going today, but the weather is dreadful! I think I might visit next weekend

You might aswell be praying for rain. As we experienced at the Total Thrills Wonderland farewell meet, crowds were pretty light due to the constant threat of rain. If not, expect some pretty heavy crowds.

Yeah, I was puzzled when I didn't see the shows at 7pm. It's a shame, since it really gave the night some life. Bush Beast now has some temporary bright lights (night road-work type) in the middle of the course pointing every direction, it actually looks pretty good! It's probally also worth noting that Bush Beast now has both trains on the track. Um, yeah - don't even think about going to Demon at that time. 1 ride op + lines all the way down to Thrills 'n' Chills do not mix! Snowy River Rampage has some weird setting now. The first set of jets go off every 10 or so seconds - even if no boat is there. I guess it kind of adds to the "randomness factor" (wait.. no.. huh?!). Despite only having 2 cars operating on Space Probe, it seems everything at Wonderland is running very well. The crazy freak that talks to game attendants was there all night also. I even managed to find another Bounty's Girl on Bounty's Revenge The amount of Everlast shirts I saw on Saturday was disturbing, Liam

Screamscape has just posted an article on the accident here (scroll down)..

Woah, I love it!

I thought you liked rainbows? I've seen this ride in operation in late 2000, but have never been on it. What is Ranger like? It looks pretty cramped and painful, especially since you're in a cage! Does it have OTSR's or one of those crazy Turbo type restraints?
-
..and I might aswell add that you can rely on me for plenty of video!

Has Dreamworld ever held an event like this before? I think this will work very well for Dreamworld, however I'm a little concerned on wether people would pay around $15 for 3 hours in the park (assuming it closes at 10pm). Wouldn't it be more logic to start Fright Night at around 6 or 5pm, particularly for a state that does not have daylight savings? Regardless, it'd be great to ride those rides at night, especially Giant Drop & ToT.

^ That's much the same with me, with the blue bar running across the bottom. I personally think 800x600 looks extremely ugly and un-organised, I've always stuck with 1024x768 Liam

Shifty isn't posting crap. Wonderland did get 11,000 through the gates yesterday. Jaggie was there yesterday and left at around 5. He asked someone (Jaggie can give more accurate info) for the attendance on that day (11,000). I wouldn't be suprised if the attendance clocked 15,000 by 10pm. Liam

Good to hear you had a good time despite the crowds! Was there 2 trains operating on Bush Beast? Everytime I've gone to Wonderland after the announcement of the closure, they've only been operating 1 train. It'll be interesting to hear wether or not they did, having over 11, 000 people come through the gates yesterday (10-5pm). I doubt the staff would have been told about ride re-locations. Unless they heard a discussion during lunch, I don't think anyone from upper management would personally tell staff. If not, prove me wrong! Lower Goldrush used to stay open till 10pm, riding Bush Beast at night pretty much gave you a guarenteed breakdown on the lift. I remember one night where it got stuck 5 times in a row - I was lucky enough to be on the 5th, and final, breakdown of the night. I believe this was caused by the sensors not working properly when night fell, much the same happened with SRR. Liam
