  1. Great to hear you thought the park looked Spectacular. Glad to know the past couple months of no sleep have been worth it
  2. I think we'll see Tunes has not had its day yet.
  3. I'll second the BBQ. That was always my favourite food stop at Wonderland, fresh, simple and well priced!
  4. I can tell you the movieworld event is nothing like winter wonderland. Winter wonderland was a cheap hashed together showground style event whilst Movieworld will be a class act. I can tell you that regardless of rides, etc, you will want to visit the park just to SEE it.
  5. Movieworld are not opening a new attraction but are offering some fairly huge refurbishments of food and beverage outlets which are needed. The big thing is the White Christmas. Sea World are the ones with the new attraction being the penguins. HOWEVER, earlier in the year we have seen several new attractions to the parks, something DW has not done. As for Journey, most feedback I've heard is it is better than Shrek so...
  6. Ad wasn't bad until the voice over started, I'm really sick of these style ads everywhere... The ad shouldn't need a voiceover if it's delivering it's message right! As for the shows, very very underwealming for me. Given DWs entertainment usually falls pretty low on the standards meter, the fact that's all they are doing for this summer looks like another big cheap out. I mean movieworld are doing a massive xmas event with a parade and what we know will be some more amazing floats, just for nothing. And for a big milestone DW pulls out some hokey entertainment on that realy bad temp stage in main street. As for illuminate, the lasers are amazing, but its not like they are new anymore.
  7. ^ I would guess so because it has been gutted, like to bare walls. ^^ I don't know as I would call a comercially available mass produced ice cream "unique" food.
  8. Huge construction fence appeared in the plaza on main street yesterday... Could this be for the Ice Rink?
  9. By that notion a person is a person, making you and I the same... Which I can assure you is not the case!
  10. When you SEE this event, it will be worth going just to look at...
  11. Yes I do, read my above post. Huss instructed the park to make a modification which resulted in the accident.
  12. Actually that above posted email pretty much goes to say that the Sweeden accident was caused by HUSS, as if they instructed an earlier modification to be reversed that pretty well says their instruction caused the accident. That actually makes me a little bit angry given I wrode that particular Rainbow only 2 years earlier.
  13. Is that a spaceprobe clone I see?
  14. Glad there was no Ali Baba, it's such a poor excuse as an offering compared to rainbow!
  15. I'd almost guarantee with a sudden closure like that with no end date that something major was found wrong with the ride that they must do testing on and then repair.
  16. Problem being that you see all of that vacant land at the bottom of the area but it's useless for park expansion just because it's so far away. Movieworld is literaly surround on all sides by something, creek, studios, admin, car park, so it doesn't really have anywhere to go without the studios giving up space and thats not likely to ever happen. And just FYI the studios are anything but abandoned at the moment. The entire complex is full to the brim with a number of productions. Whilst they may be empty at times, you can't count on this, as was seen with Saw Maze this year, it was evicted from the studios as a production came in.
  17. I have a great idea, but since I'm pitching it for real I'm gonna stay out of this competition but want to give some advice for competitors... Be very budget concious, make sure your idea is affordable. In case you don't know these attractions are usually built from ply wood and foam entirely, so keep that in mind. And as much as the park as possible has to function during the day for regular guests. Good luck!
  18. I think the questions are perfectly valid. I can flat out that that design is not practical (even though it sounds great) and the parks would never build it. Now that being the case there is no way I personally would vote for it to be the best. I can't think that I'd be alone in that line of thought. So by questioning the design I think it only helps the creator maybe re think or better their idea and thus improve their chance of winning. Now if they had said "that's crap you'll lose" it would be one thing but I think those posts are pretty constructive critisism. Of course it's your competition and you can run it however you like, the above is merely my opinion.
  19. I'd like to see more non traditional waterpark rides at Wet and Wild, gives it a unique edge. Plus it's Wet AND Wild so Surf Rider can fit the Wild theme. Plus the ride IS themed to a water activity so I feel it kind of works in theme. Sea World is really all about marine life, and in my opinion a surfing theme fits less there.
  20. Why is it not a success? The ride cosistently has long lines at WnW so why isn't it successful? It is a popular ride with the public.
  21. Don't know I'm afraid. And didn't even know about batwing, but thanks for reminding me!
  22. How was it that you happened to be chatting to John?
  23. It is unfortunate (just touching on the Scooby thing) with the break downs. Of course when I say break downs, it's not that something actually breaks, you're nearly always looking at a computer matter stopping the ride. You'll find with all complex rides that ride stoppages are frequent, it's uncommon to find at least one E-ticket attraction that doesn't go down once or twice a day. It may not seem so given much of the ride is very sedate but the ride system alone (ie not the effects) in Scooby is by far the most complex of any ride at the Australian parks. With that complexity comes a huge array of safety systems, and if just one little thing isn't perfect with EVERY system then the ride stops, to ensure everything is safe. That's usually when you see the ride stopped for a period of time, whilst whatever the issue is checked before resuming the operation. It's usually going to be something minor like a car taking half a second longer than average to negotiate part of the ride, but amusement rides take no chances. It kind of is luck of the draw as there are just soooo many variables with these rides that all have to line up perfectly for correct and safe operation.
  24. The laser room looked the best I've ever seen it, better than when the ride first opened! Tons of haze, heaps of green and full colour lasers, just awesome. I was so impressed. Journey has been open every HFN and even the last show of the night was full and the attraction is still getting applause which is pretty cool.
