  1. Now come on Joz. It's so unlike you to be cinical
  2. This seems pretty definitive ... Would really be one to doubt this info given Janine is always pretty on the money.
  3. Except no one knows this is being exaggerated until whatever it is has been announced. And what I was saying earlier is that even if the que is short, dispatch times are still long with VR on the train. But it seems the VR brigade will not be silenced so we'll just wait and see hey.
  4. I don't think so. But it's hardly relevant to making the point though. I'll correct myself: IF the park has a singles line and IF you have no friends and want to ride alone then Youll only have to wait too long instead of way way way too long.
  5. I believe at the moment it's just been blasted back to raw steel. So any colour scheme is possible.
  6. You can have separate ques but you still have to put those people on the train. So thas where your capacity dies in the ass. You look at most implementations of VR and they've all been to breathe new life into older rides and create a marketing opportunity. A world best coaster will have this pull all on its own. Much smarter to wait and use it as a new market driver several years down the line. You also don't want to devalue the offering on Arkham. Why would you pay for VR on Arkham when you can use your money for the latest and greatest coaster. It's just simple business.
  7. Yeah all of you saying "just don't use it" really have obviously not seen it in action. For or example if I wanted to ride New Revolution without VR I would have had to wait 2.5HOURS! If I didn't have a platinum flash pass. Because I did it was revealed the wait for non VR was actually mins but all those people had to wait in the age with VR guests. Even at its most efficient it CRIPPLES capacity. Also there is zero point building a hyper coaster if you are going to VR because the body really doesn't notice the difference in sensations to a much smaller and cheaper coaster.
  8. For the love of God NO VR! We don't need more than one coaster with VR, it's not a slap it on every ride item. One unique experience is fine. Just enjoy the real outdoor actual life life kids and get out of the video game for just one day.
  9. At Sea world I wouldn't really change much that's there now. For Jet Rescue I probably would make it look a bit more like a dock. Timber and rope fence at the station, etc but that's about it. For that park as long as it's not trying to be a theme, like storm is, then I'm happy with Landscaped stations as Mickey suggests. More than happy for the park just to have well presented rides. As with DW. For Movie World I don't want to see landscaping, I want to see theming.
  10. It's correct that the biggest issue for the park is access. Even if you don't move BOH, a new access from Kopps road for service vehicles and staff would greatly improve flow so that you don't have the road between the gates and car park and you don't have service vehicles using the main guest entrance. As for BOH, anyone familiar with those areas knows what a nightmare they are in layout. Basically 25 years of hodge page grab for space. If it's one thing the place needs it's much more office space. I would leave administration where it is, however demolish the back half which is warehouse and entertainment rehearsal space and put in a multi level building there and consolidate ALL the parks admin (which is current spread all over the property) to there. Move the staff dining area into behind the Roxy, basically taking over wardrobe and food and beverage offices. Move entertainment green rooms, costuming and rehearsal space into a new building where maintenance currently is. Then push the kids area all the way over against the admin building almost and back against ricks. The existing boh road would move to the eastern side of admin. This gives you heaps of space for the kids area, lets Sam's share the Ricks kitchen as if would be moved back against there, and let's you take back over the half of Tunes building for another immersive attraction, possibly simulator or the like. Then you build a big ass maintenance facility out behind Wild West that also includes increased Food and Bev warehouse and parade storage. Like a really big facility. All of this includes new access roads suitable for large vehicles. You would also re do parade route access so you can do a one way parade through the park and out the other side and link back to the parade storage building. All ll this involves a lot to land clearing and leveling and would cost 10s of millions of dollars. But if you're talking how to do it right, this would be my plan.
  11. I kinda of disagree with the it's just a station. At Dreamworld yes, Sea World maybe, Movie World no. It's already a stretch that the park now has bare roller coasters given it was meant to have an immersive movie theme. Green Lantern though is just sub par. There is nothing themed about it at all. It's barely more than a traveling carnival ride in its presentation. Fortunately it's the exception to the rule and anything that's gone in since has been really great. I don't think we should set any sort of standard by GL.
  12. Boo! When is someone down here gonna get an awesome Maurer spinner!
  13. Perhaps because literally nothing has changed. Does anyone think in the last couple days a whole bunch of track and a giant banner saying My Little Poney Togo Flying Coaster appeared on site?
  14. I honestly think people that go to fright nights and go out of their way to show how not scared they are and act too cool for school and brag about it are just losers. Why go? It's just ruining the fun for everyone else. Yay you didn't get scared mr/miss cool how friken sad for you.
  15. Yeah looking at them side by side it makes no sense to me why they essentially bought the same slide again.
  16. My post I made at TPR sums up my thoughts on this: To me it shows massive flaws in the rides control system and I'm surprised that this was not detailed more in the findings. Why was the first alarm when the car with guests attempted to leave the lift and enter the block with the stalled car? There should have been a "block occupied too long" fault when the empty car failed to leave the block. This would have been much more of a red flag for the engineers than the fault they received. Other manufacturers have these faults built into their systems. I also think a multi car ride like Smiler should have provisions in the control system for being aware of the current number of active cars. Then it would not allow the ride to run if it did not see at least 5 occupied blocks. Regardless of human intervention in auto or evac mode. I'm not aware of any coasters (except maybe Disney who do their own controls) that do have awareness of number of cars running. They are simply programmed to accommodate any number using their block logic.
  17. Yeah I don't think they should be making the lighting good for photos as a priority... Keep it nice and dark and gloomy. Some of those other photos just posted look good.
  18. I didn't know that about the BT pre show. That is indeed very cool!
  19. No way the lighting scheme should have any overlap between Christmas, Carnivale and Fright Nights. All completely different looks and atmosphere that should be being created. Perhaps like some other things it was just an off night still needing some fine tuning. I always found with fright nights that less is more.
  20. Couldn't agree more They really nailed that right. Seems weird that some of those photos have all the Christmas lights on in Main Street.
  21. Having seen this event grow from nothing I think it's fair to say the first night is always a bit iffy and I'm sure any of the quibbles anyone has will be sorted by the next few nights for sure.
  22. Yes others have posted, I was mistaken and was thrown by the fact some had concrete inside. They are indeed formwork.
  23. I have probably missed it in this thread and I'm a little out of the horror genre loop as its not my thing. But which of the two new mazes is the major IP that was hinted that they'd secured as mentioned on last year's UTT?
  24. Those concrete caps in the back of that photo have been kicking around the site for a while. They have no just been poured and are only about 1m high if that. Look more like a pour sample or something?
  25. To be pedantic, they said a Sensor Fault, which doesn't mean a faulty sensor. Different parks have different policies on how they deal with ride stops. Some prefer to send cars through until all guests get back to the station, others have a policy to evac all guests after a ride stop (VRTP being such parks). There are pros and cons to each. Obviously what happened with The Smiler is definitely a con!
