  1. Hopefully everyone who gets government fines will now be given 10 times more money to help pay them šŸ‘
  2. It’s all good Ardent, we’ll just give you 70million so you can pay that little fine we’ve issued you. cheers Qld Government Pretty annoyed our public money is being given to those who continue to demonstrate their incompetence over and over again.
  3. Just to be clear they haven’t given a tentative opening of the 18th. They’ve just stated they would be closed until at least the 17th.
  4. Well if they’ve been there for that long and you’ve seen them why are you surprised nobody has posted them if you yourself didn’t post them??
  5. Well yes this is true. Sadly the ā€˜honor’ system that was the case before appeared to be followed as much in places as the Covid one does šŸ˜›
  6. I’d say some trigger happy safety fun police has decided it needs a secondary safety and can’t just be on its shaft (which would have been engineered in the first place). This is the future of theming in Australia folks. The balance of logic in this country has gone towards extra safety to the point of even if it impacts on show. We’ll never have theme parks with the level of show immersion as overseas again as a result of this. You’ll never justify hiding an exit sign as it distrusts the theming or having an authentic prop like this again. That’s just the way it’s going to be. And the over engineering and safety analysis will add so much to the cost of doing anything less money will be available for theming. This is just the reality in Australia now, past incidents have forced the governments hand and we just have to live with that as sad as it is.
  7. See this is a weird comment... John Menzies built countless amazing attractions, albeit with much less budget than would be needed to do today with all the bullshit hoops and standards that need to be dealt with. Then you had the joke that was Tim and Bob come in and just destroy everything, gut quality attractions and replace them with trash. Demote the parks from destination to regional category on purpose, and cut costs everywhere possible. Now you have Clark and Bikash, arguably the two most passionate people in management since John Menzies running the show, and building a team of people below them with the same values. They’ve got years worth of shit to undo from the mistakes of the previous management, I’m sure they would love to build quality attractions like Tunes, but there is much turnaround to do first.
  8. That’s definitely not true! They are actually in Europe
  9. The rotating guy, the ghoul that comes at you as you round the corner and the demon that drops out of the roof are all still there, but you're right, they could be lit better. Of course the Scooby figure to the right after you get off the ride in the tiki hut is a new addition.
  10. The biggest thing is the timing and the transitions, tidying those up would go a long way to improving the experience. They will never be earth shattering but at least they won't be 'bad'.
  11. They’re better than they started as but they could do with some more refinement to be sure.
  12. This has changed since I last saw the meals as there used to be a sausage meal. Best to message them directly and ask as they can probably give you a proper current answer.
  13. There's a difference between an expectation that your food will be hot, and a sign posted on the front door that says "all food cold today." It wasn't good that the info wasn't on the app, but that's fixed now... I'm sure it was because of comments on Parkz <-- insert fountain here. Can we move on now?
  14. If I didn’t have the budget to I wouldn’t. But I wouldn’t say I was going to either. Also this...
  15. I don’t, I think is is exactly what we would have got. There would have been an initial concept where everyone went ooo aaah we’re building this (which actually would have been world class, whatever that means). But then the usual death by committee nature of their construction would kick in, money would be absorbed by endless nonsense that does nothing for the finished product and in the end the project team would have taken a step back with what they’d turned it into and patted themselves on the back for producing such amazing theming. This is what happens when you have construction people in charge of design decisions instead of artistic people. And that’s exactly why Disney and Universal are good at what they do and others aren’t.
  16. I build a good ride, nicely present it and say I’m doing so. I don’t build a nicely presented ride, and release it with completely false representations of immersive theming and state that this theming will be world class. It is possible to not theme something whilst also not under delivering on expectations.
  17. Well I have the time. The first negative article was 4 months on, and was a jibe at the advertising campaign that used fake atttactions and unrealistic experiences. A pretty fair a assessment . Then we returned to mostly positive articles cept the occasional reporting of negative items in the press etc. The articles were still positive at least a year later (which is when I stopped looking). So the bias is not with Parkz. It’s with people who have decided a narrative and are now making up evidence to support it.
  18. I’m not going to say it’s right, because the app should have that info. But I’m guessing it’s because the app is from a third party vendor who couldn’t make that happen in time as it meant changing the app. Where as VRTP have complete control over their site so could change it. I’d be very surprised though if anyone was heading to a park that just opened and not checking their website or Facebook prior. Especially as those are the places the tell you that you need the app. The information should be everywhere possible, but I’d dare say the reason it’s not is more incompetence than subterfuge.
  19. Went to the website, red banner directed me to COVID info. Clearly states check the maintenance page. Maintenance page clearly shows closed rides so... Im very curious about the white corflute though. If they are trying to hide the signs then that’s really shit. But also they are magnetic so also weird. Are the closed rides not shown on the digital screens out the front now?
  20. I went through the Facebook post, there are 21 comments that are negative from people who actually went and aren’t just the same person justifying their views. There are over 21 comments telling the first 21 they are stupid or wrong and defending the park. My view is not that someone can’t be unhappy not all rides are open. But it is that Reviewtyme can’t speak for the overall satisfaction for the park based on their experience. If I visit another park and say I was disappointed because I went and it was shit, when I know it’s shit, Im more than happy to be called out on it. If I visit it and say I hate it, I’m allowed to do that, but it’s also only going to be my personal opinion, it doesn’t make me right or wrong.
  21. Ok but hang on they didn’t though. They've listed all the closures on their website. In the countless interviews they’ve stated not everything was open and things were different. It’s fair to say some people don’t check these things and make assumptions. But you can’t say they didn’t attempt to get that message across. For every guest that was sad that not everything was open, there was someone just desperate to be in the park again. I might not agree with them, and neither might you, but many exist. And many would be overjoyed just be in the park with no rides open, it brings them joy. As for any member of this site attending the park and saying they were disappointed by not having rides open I call bullshit. Because anyone on here knows what they were signing up for before visiting, so can’t be saying how let down they were after the fact. Any attraction, show, restaurant, club, hotel is going to be a mixed back of experiences at this time. And that’s just the way it’s going to be for a while.
  22. Yes I have read it, but you also have to look at the nature of Facebook commenting. Most commonly people only take to Facebook to make complaints, not compliments. that particular post had around 100 comments, that’s still a small sample. Then you have to also consider the validity of the claims. As I mentioned, first hand I’ve seen the barrage of complaints over Covid related things from tourists visiting, all completely unjustified. So yes, things are not ideal at the park, it would have been good if all rides were open. But also not EVERY guest is upset and I’d argue the overall park mood is not dreary. The complaints about closures really aren’t any different to the ones seen every year at this time, even when only one or 2 rides are closed. Saying one persons opinion is only one persons opinion is not dismissive, it’s fact. Your post spoke to the mood of the park, not your mood. So I’m am saying that I disagree, and I’m allowed to do that. Frankly I’m so sick of hearing all this fostering the community crap. You’re allowed to post your views and I’m allowed to post mine. You can’t get your knickers twisted every time a moderator doesn’t agree with an opinion or a member.
  23. To be fair this is one persons review of people’s experience. It’s also at odds with the many other reviews and smiling faces I’ve seen dotted around the internet from the park. It’s a given some people will be happy and some won’t. Some people are on the coast having a good holiday, and others are bitching and moaning they have to wait a few extra minutes for an elevator.
