  1. Having used Fast Track on Rivals at least three or four times over the weekend I can safely say paying for Fast Track just to get that smug feeling you get walking past an hour long queue on one of the busiest days is worth it by itself.
  2. I'm kind of done with this "they can't compete with Rivals" chant that I keep hearing. Rivals will prove major capital expenditure is sustainable and now necessary to move forward in the industry. As for obtaining the appropriate funds to refocus their park, they could get it the same way Village did - by calling up the bank and getting a loan. I'm grossly over-simplifying here, but how else do you think they get the funds? As for the shareholders, deferring the Main Event rollout in the US and creating a vision for the future of Dreamworld would instil a lot of confidence in the board given how critical Ariadne have been this year Our tourism economy is only going to grow. The dollar will stay where it is until at least 2020 due to global politics & the fact that the mining boom has come and gone. We'll have more and more middle class Chinese, and if the park doesn't at the minimum match some of their local park's offerings back home, there's a chance tourist groups may pick Village's combination of AOS, PC, TG & MW as a higher-end overall prospect. The risk is low for investment right now and there's so much opportunity for the taking too. You don't need to do compete head on with Rivals though to stay current: Since the Ardent board is so transfixed on Main Event, why not just bring one here? The amphitheatre / Blue Lagoon space is just so unbelievably perfect for a Main Event / Universal Citywalk-style gate to be built. Build an RMC - it's different, cheaper and unique enough to actually compete with Rivals head on by itself. Spend smarter. It doesn't cost much to put a steam train back in and put a bushranger show on it, and would convert so many naysayers onto the new vision of Dreamworld who have been cynical since Ardent purchased the park. Spend even smarter-er. Increasing revenue opportunities by investing in showstages/better AV etc. for daily shows and private events, investing in more unique merch are just two ideas.
  3. I'd imagine if Rivals officially opened today, whatever new artwork or map is out there now.
  4. You might want to check Arkham Asylum.
  5. I offered them a fully insured rig with gopros + labour pro bono too.
  6. Not a fan, here's my reasoning: There's a reason why all of Disney's parks, all of Cedar Fair's parks, Hershey, Silver Dollar City, Dollywood, Dreamworld etc. etc. all use a similar design language - by not being a 1:1 scaled photorealistic design, you can augment the widths of paths and skew attraction sizes so that the map can show access routes far more easily. Universal's is probably the closest in design, but even then their version of photorealistic is by and large not a 1:1 scale style map like this one. There's no soul. With the previous maps being hand drawn, they had this sense of being a still life scene of being inside the park.
  7. Emailed the park yesterday, still haven't heard back. I just want to tell cool stories and make sweet films, i'm not too fussed on whether or not i'm included or invited to VIP parties, and one of my niches that I do well is Point of View videos, and I think the park should capitalise on that.
  8. All good advice there ^^^ Also, if you are heading south, do not avoid Nagashima Spa Land or Parque Espana. Nagashima Spa Land is just a 30 minute bus away from Shin-Nagoya Station and Parque Espana is easy enough to get to from Shin-Osaka via the Kintetsu Line and a courtesy bus. I'd highly suggest staying the night at the resort next store, too.
  9. Way, way, way better than the front seats. It's what I wanted Rivals to be. It just hauls arse in a giddy, relentless kind of way. I don't think you'd want to do it five times in a row, but i'd definitely do it once in a while. Plus, with the 45 degree lift hill, the second you start going up all you've got is the lapbar holding you in place. It's definitely un-nerving. I've heard row 10 is the place to be in terms of front-facing seats. Will have to report back on that one soon.
  10. Sorry, to clarify, by content I meant photo & video.
  11. I think if I did it'd be on OurWorlds and not some second rate Pakistani content factory site.
  12. Thanks for that bot, you've just let me know some more folks who have stolen my content.
  13. Universal is in Osaka, which, without a JRP is going to be expensive, especially if you're not doing any other travel outside of Tokyo. Let's say you're staying in Tokyo for a tick, here's where i'd be at: Go to Fuji-Q Highlands, it has a Thomas the tank engine land for the little ones and Japan's most craziest rides, period. I've written about it here: http://ourworlds.co/2017/reviews/fuji-q-highlands-review/ Get a 3 day pass to the Tokyo Disney resort, you won't regret it. Remember to commit though, Japan crowds are smart, organised and efficient, so if you're not there at 9am like they are you'll miss out on all the good fastpasses. Stay nearby - places like the MyStays Maihama are a nice joint nearby without spending a lot of cash. Above all else, go to DisneySea, it's the best park on the planet and it'll blow your mind. Kawasemi and Regina are two fantastic Intamin coasters in one of the worst parks in the world for the simple reason they treat their animals like shit, and for as much as I just love Kawasemi, I can't recommend Tobu Zoo to folks. O'daiba is a cool place to visit in the afternoon/evening and it's where you'll find Joypolis and a sweet indoor inverting spinning coaster that has joysticks on it so you can shoot things. It's just awesome. Plus there's new VR stuff nearby and an onsen "theme park" nearby you should try. It's like what Darling Harbour in Sydney should've been. Head to Tokyo Dome and ride Thunder Dolphin. It's nearby heaps of other stuff so you can lump it in with other sight-seeing duties. At this point you've spent roughly 5 days doing coasters and theme parks. If you have more time, then your stretch goals should be: Go to Yimouriland, it's not filled with crazy amazing coasters but it's a fun day out. Yokohama Cosmoworld is pretty cool too, plus the Kirin brewery is nearby and gives out free samples. Hope this helps.
  14. @Ash as I mentioned, it really depends on where you're going to be staying, Japan's still a big country littered with heaps of parks from top to bottom.
  15. Yep going to add an excerpt and some photos you guys might enjoy. If you want to read the rest of my ramblings and swearing, you can go to that other place with the things.
  16. They didn't and they're breaking a shit ton of CASA regs in the process. Dumb crap like this gives guys like me who follow the rules a bad name.
  17. Whoever took those drone shots is a fucking idiot.
  18. Big question is, where are you travelling and how many days do you have for theme parks? Let us know and I'll give you the must dos.
  19. Whoa, despite maybe a tad too much screaming and shakey-ness, they're really bloody good. Hats off to who-ever did them, would love to see more pre Fright Nights hype like this.
  20. So Reddit's sub-reddit PSBattles has jumped on a particularly well timed shot of a handler and a tiger at Dreamworld. Find the post here: So... What's everyone's photoshop?
