  1. A Sky Fly this isn't. Definitely a Zamperla Air Race. This is barely, barely a major attraction. If this counts as a "big 8 thrill ride", then the Reef Diver and River Rapids count to by comparison alone. Looking forward to Dreamworld advertising this as an epicly huge ride and then watching Dreamworld's CSR quickly plummet when people realise it isn't.
  2. Quoted for truth. Clutching straws, Dreamworld? Pretty sure MDMC was when Dreamworld jumped the shark.
  3. I love that we're the internet's most sarcastic theme park forum and we're also Australian. It's so fitting, stereotypically.
  4. I heard they were working on heaps of Australian projects. Aren't they doing Dreamworld's new ride too?
  5. Icing on the cake would be keeping the main volcano and rejoining that gas line.
  6. "We have the technology, not even possible 3 years ago..." Wait, dafuq? What kind of line is that?
  7. My nostalgic hard-on tends to make me bat for Lethal Weapon's China Town exteriors, look and atmosphere, which I think fit more comfortably with the Movie World I personally came to know and love. Beyond that though, Arkham Asylum is such a killer investment. My experience was that it was the perfect rehash/upgrade of a ride that wasn't getting much love from guests. And the new trains are so ridiculously great that the load/unload and the brief leg crushing are at best, minor details to a ride that's got way more lasting power then it ever did before, despite how awesome that old Lethal Weapon Cinema, the queue, and everything came with the Lethal Weapon theme was. If there was a parallel universe where saving Lethal Weapon or Police Academy was at all a possibility, I'd pick Police Academy any day of the week. The new Arkham Asylum is just better overall.
  8. Is WhiteWaterWorld even considered a competitor these days? This looks seriously great.
  9. Americans. Always trying to one up Australian's by a few inches (that's what she said.)
  10. Most guests that I've seen find Cyclone hilarious because the ride's entrance and exit is incredibly convenient/easy to find/simple/engaging/well-themed.
  11. Is it just me or when I hear "Po's Garden" I think it has something to do with this?
  12. Agreed totally. Trying to revive what's dead, gone or otherwise isn't going to help the park succeed in the future, what I think will hit the nail on the head is revising the park's rich history in its core values that made the park the success that it is now. A sense of pride of being "Australia's Disneyland." And to me that's always said "be like the best (Disney, Universal & Busch) and be innovative enough (which is what Aussies do best) to make it work to our budget." And I think that's Movie World's mantra in a nutshell currently, I get a deep sense of pride in the park's Main Street, its employees and even the uniforms - it just all adds up. I think for me the park ultimately should have five zones - Dreamworks, Main Street, Gold Rush County, Rivertown and Ocean Parade. Everything should ultimately be adapted to these zones like djrappa suggested to really make the spaces in the park more immersive. And I think the park would benefit greatly from having a much more dispersed crowd across the park instead of gating people into Ocean Parade so that they can make a few bucks after hours by keeping the rides close together for private functions.
  13. I wish I could sue every time I didn't go all the way. And then there's this thing about waterslides.
  14. Yep, that's me. Complete with odd grammatical errors and all. My english teachers of past would be so proud. I think to further that thought is to compare Dreamworld's mentality right now to Movie World's. Both parks are experiencing the same economic situation, high aussie dollar, yada yada yada, meanwhile one park is looking after their property long-term and investing and innovating big for when the market turns while the other is barely maintaining their property short term. I wonder which park will be turning the big bucks and going strong in five years?
  15. You didn't hear about Mick Doohan's Dippin' Dots Rollercoaster? Will go to the park tomorrow and get pics of construction, promise. Does anyone else want photos of anything while i'm there?
  16. ^ Wow. This is typical Dreamworld these days. Just on further thought, i'm pretty sure this would be the fourth SBNO attraction for Dreamworld, joining the ranks of Blue Lagoon, Skylift & the Mine Ride. It's getting a little ridiculous. Dreamworld - the look but don't touch park. Update - Just realised River Rapids is also closed until further notice. And while it's a temporary closure, having been closed for over a month i'm going to say that's currently five SBNO attractions. Dafuq?
  17. It's confirmed for summer that they're relocating the Captain Sturt to the furtherest corner of the park and using the land to build something awful with Mick Doohan's name on it. (Didn't this already happen once before?)
  18. The Skull Rock gag was on purpose. It was a crack at what they did when they turfed IMAX and how that all ultimately panned out.
  19. Hope you don't mind - I added my spin to it.
  20. (For something different.) Since we're such a cynical, over-critical, sarcastic bunch of park-goers, why not turn that hate passion into something creative? I'd suggest these two. http://memegenerator.net/ http://www.quickmeme.com/ Here's some I created. LULSAWAY.
  21. And look, in total honesty, there's some really great blokes here who are always keen for a few hours on some rides, a chat and a laugh and a beer or two after. However most of us are outnumbered by the crazys 5 to 1, hence my comment on my "interests" under my picture. And by crazy, I mean, the sort of people who make standing in a queue very awkward.
  22. Thanks for letting me know. I will leave it there as a reminder for all to see that every great genius makes mistakes.
  23. Great post. Thanks for letting us now in graphic detail.
