Here's a comparison for those saying it's too expensive: Thorpe Park, one of the only other places in the world that offer a Coaster Climb, is over $600 AUD. Looking at Disney, their backstage tour is just under $360 AUD, it's longer, but the groups aren't capped. Alternatively, you could go for a VIP guide, which comes in at $2400 AUD (minimum of six hours.) Then there's Universal Studios, their backstage tour is nearly $480 AUD. And to top it off, there's Dreamworld, where you add a one to the front of the Star Tours price and get $1295 per adult AUD. That's not to say Dreamworld's product is overpriced straight off the bat. Ultimately i'd say these products fall into one of two fields, backstage experiences or more exclusive escorted VIP experiences. Given the size of our parks, I think Star Tours strikes a nice balance between the two, because the reality is I just don't think you need someone walking you to Superman Escape for the 5th time in a row when ultimately a Fast Track wristband does the same thing. If it was Disneyland though, where the crowds are constantly insane and you'd be lucky to squeeze everything in on a good day, then there's some value I think.

I've written a quick article about it on OurWorlds here: http://ourworlds.co/australias-first-rollercoaster-climb/ I appreciate the kind words @Zanstabar - I have to pinch myself sometimes that I get to do what I do and work with such talented folk. This is a really sweet experience in my mind - i've technically done it twice now and it delivers on giving enthusiasts an overwhelming amount of information to sink your teeth into, plus some experiences that give you pretty sweet bragging rights (like the coaster climb). For those who want to learn a little bit more about it, here's this guy:

Sounds a lot like the old Mitch Hawker polls. This I like!

Today looks like it's going to be a big day.

What a co-incedence.

Personally I think it's time for them to do something medium sized and family friendly like a nice solid Maurer Sohne Spinning Coaster, similar to Spinball Whizzer Alton Towers. I think they'd need something to capture some of the Sunshine Coast family market away from the Gold Coast parks, something that's uniquely Aussie World, something that's not already seen and most importantly, something that's not going to break the bank.

Anyone else notice the videos of this up around the park now? Has anyone used it? What are your thoughts?

Correct, they're tiny RGB LED lights. I'm sure I have a photo of them in action somewhere... -

Totally guessing here, but those steps were incredibly slippery when they were wet. It's a sneaky way to get some grip without ruining the whole look I guess. -
I always compare new attractions by the ones they replace - my belief is whatever's new should entertain better in some fashion or another to deserve being put there in the first place. Take Gremlins & Scooby as a perfect example of this - Gremlins was a great attraction and while I was sad to see that go Scooby Doo is an infinitely better attraction. With that in mind, after the fire in the boiler room it never has quite been the same. And I get it, rides get older, things break, simple fixes are applied, no problem, but after a while rides experience a death by a thousand cuts and they lose their lustre (think Wipeout). I'd love to see Wild West Falls return its former glory, and even given some modern love and ingenuity. To be fair, the ride's nearly two decades old, it's ripe for it to be given a new leah on life, and for Movie World's annual members a new reason to come back and check out what's new. I'd love to see the Holograms get a freshen up and the audio cleared up, too. They could have lighting cues inside the native american huts so that they light up as you go past. And naturally, to see the boiler room return back to its former glory would be awesome. What does everyone else think?

Maybe the reason Wild West Falls is getting an extended refurb is so they can retheme in to a DC Villain? #wildwestjoker #cowboysandbatman #thatlastonesoundsdirtyinhindsight -

I gotta say I had way more fun on Kawasemi than I did Steel Dragon or Fujiyama despite Kawasemi being nearly 1/3 both their height. I guess it's the same idea that's been proven with rides like Maverick, these days the money you spend on a one trick pony like Top Thrill Dragster or Tower of Terror could be better spent on something innovative. -

I really disliked the roof for a long time until I realised how much better it was for night events. Definitely Dreamworld near its peak right there, sans the embarrassing theme song and circus. -
I think you're safe @Theme Park Girl - just having a laugh.

I've heard YourWorlds & Thrillz are pretty good.

Jeese this ride is looking good. Is it just me or is this a new seat design for Intamin? -
Man hospitalised after falling out of Dreamworld Log Ride

It lands for me like the general public think that there should be an emergency stop button that's able to grind every carriage on a ride to a holt at any point in time during the ride. I dunno, I guess I have pretty opinionated views on this, I think it's a safe bet Dreamworld would have CCTV of the incident and emergency procedures in place (including reponse times to incidents) just so they can satisfy the State's safety requirements to open the ride in the first place. Knowing so little of what really transpired I guess it's all up for speculation, I honestly feel like TLDR, this guy got butthurt (figuratively and literally) when he did something genuinely ill-thought out to impress his mates and now he has someone in his pocket telling him there's money to be had from this kind of situation, because that's the day and age we live in. -
You sure it was me @Zanstabar? I've seen a guy around there who's hair looks similar but his name badge has two "n's" on the end not one. (I'm a Ben not Benn.) Would love to see Green Lantern's audio working more consistently. I'd be honestly interested to learn why it's hit and miss actually, no doubt it's not an easy fix half way through the day if things go awry, in any case, the soundtrack definitely adds to the experience for sure.
