  1. ^He is, and we should start to see construction by June-July, if info is correct. And from what I have picked up from staff at the park (Not Rabid as he is quite tight lipped about this one), the ride has already been bought and paid for, which would mean that someone knows the specs and has not released them yet. So I guess as always only time will tell......
  2. There are queues within Movie World that are no longer in use due to one reason or another. My advice would be to look at these areas as they may be used for the new attraction, it would save the park a lot of money and time not having to construct a new entry. Just a thought
  3. Ok, after reading all the above posts, let me redirect your heads for a second. Instead of looking at money, let us look at crowd size, which as many of you might know is a major problem for Disney Hong Kong. I have been down to WnW many times over this summer taking shots of the new construction, and every time I am there, the amount of people within the park is enough to turn me away from buying a ticket. Now just imagine for a minute, that the amount of people at the park is halved with the opening of the DW water park. This would allow for more people like myself, with small children, to consider going into the parks on those days. This would lead to both the parks getting large crowds and therefor providing a choice on the parks. At the moment it is like only having MW on the coast without a DW in site...no choice on which park to go to. While I have my own theory on why all the parks are doing all this construction of late (cough "Disney" cough) just remember that it will only improve things at both sites for those of us that visit the parks. So, in my own mind, the addition of the water park next to DW is going to be a step in the right direction and I can only hope that we will continue to see positive moves from the parks in the future. EDIT : I just realized that I agreed with Slick about something....WOW!
  4. Have fun guys, but due to work, I will be unable to attend. I should be there on Sunday, or at least at DW due to the construction and the updates that we are doing. Once again, have fun....
  5. I have a few things to get off my chest over the last posts, and then onto the topic at hand. First thing is all this MW against DW. If you like one park over the other, then that's great, but I see no need to put the other park down, and so everyone knows, I have yearly passes to BOTH parks! The other is people who put down rides against others when they have not even ridden the ride in question, so I can only assume that, Nebuchanezzar, you have ridden some B&M to make the claim that they are better than Lethal Weapon. I do not comment on any rides that I have not ridden myself, and even then always try to put any comments that I might have into positive aspect so as not to ruin the ride for anyone who has not yet ridden it. Now that I have said my peace, I believe that the topic was a new coaster at Dreamworld please....not how one park is better than the other! A new coaster (Of Any Sort) would help Dreamworlds popularity with the general public, but what type to get. A B&M means a lot to those of us who follow coasters and the construction, but to the general public (GP) it is just another coaster, so let us not worry about the builder at this stage. A couple of things to consider, size of the ride and the location within the park. I will let you know a few areas not to consider as they will not be available, TB site, BB site and anywhere near the Claw. Ok, so how about the removal of the current water park and installing a CGI wooding into that area. The removal of the Gravitron and useing the storage land behind there. The removal of the model T fords and using the land around the TOT track for a coaster that also goes along the river. You get the idea. As far as the type and the builder, I really don't care as long as it is a new coaster. I for one will be greatfull for anything at all.....
  6. That's what you get for trying to post after just waking up from a sleep. But you have made my point for me, they are both a style of launch coaster, but that is it, so they should not be compared against each other, just like a B&M Inverted and a Vekoma inverted. Both have there appeals to start with, but to say one puts the other to shame with one being 10years old and the other new is just a stupid comment. My point is that anything new is going to be better than the older rides, reguardless of who built it or where it lives. I am also just happy to live near the top 4 parks in Australia, and I would start looking this year for a new thrill attraction at Dreamworld...but only time will tell.
  7. ^I don't get this comment about putting something to shame. If I own a car that is ten years old and you buy one that is this years model, it will look better and ride better to start with, but it is by no means putting my car to shame. It is what it is....a new coaster compared to a 10yr old coaster. They are two completly different coaster companies, building a similar style of coaster, that is all. Neither one will be putting the other to shame in any way, just like Superman is in no way putting the TOT to shame, as they are two similar rides, but built by two different companies....best to leave it at that and see if the ride comes or not.
  8. I was informed about the upgrades for Wet'n'Wild in Febuary of 2005 and was told to keep this under my hat. This was about the same time that I was told about the new coaster for Movie World and to get my camera gear ready. The first we had heard about a water park for Dreamworld was around June of last year, with it being confirmed late last year. The parks plan these things a long time in advance due to council permits, construction requirements and bookings in advance, materials required on site..etc. To think that the park has planned the upgrades just to compete against Dreamworlds new water park and planned them in that short of a time frame is a bit to much to expect..
  9. So you are sick of hearing about Supeman, like we are sick of hearing about how Dreamnova is coming soon.....not that i'm saying it won't be a great site, but we are still waiting to see that for ourselves
  10. Then what would you call the opening of Superman? Most of us have been to WnW during the summer season, and know what it is like as far as the crowds go and trying to get onto a ride/slide. The opening of a new park would allow for faster que times at both water parks, while giving the paying customer the choice of which park to go to. Also it would allow for a visiting family from out of state to visit both parks in one trip and get more out of their holiday. This would also go for any of our overseas friends on any trips to Australia and would allow for a greater Australian experience. My overall thoughts on the matter is that it is about time as it is long overdue....good work Dreamworld.
  11. ^You just need to learn how to read Kiwi and then everything becomes choice bro.... Nice pictures as always Ian, a real scoop for yourself, great work. And like everyone else above, I am also ticked off that you get to ride it first....B&^#*D!!!
  12. Sorry to say that your friend has not a leg to stand on as far as claiming that the idea was his. As it was mentioned, a design only has to differ by 10% to avoid any copyright problems, and this is for most items in construction. And for your claims to be true, then your friend has thought of a ride design 2 years ahead of when the first rocket coaster was ever built, so I think that you might be dreaming of this a bit.....
  13. The height of the top hat is approx 42m high, with the first hump being 30m and the second hump will be 20-25m high. The helix in the building looks to cross over the top of the launch inside the building. Will just have to wait and see what happens with the rest of the outside track. Hope this helps with some of the questions...
  14. It was only a matter of time before the park started advertising the new ride. Although I will ask everyone to cast your collective minds back to last year and I posted somewhere about the ads on the start of a DVD I was watching, and there was an add for Movie World. Within the add, the superman logo flashed up in the middle of the whole thing and then nothing else was said. At this time, there was no Superman charcter within the park, apart from the Movie Magic walk through and that was only audience particaption. Just makes me wonder how long in advance the park knows about the coming attractions, and if this is the case....what will be next???
  15. ^As DJ said, wait and see and you will get a nice surprise. And please remember that the upgrade to WNW will take 3 years to complete.
  16. From my understanding, the first year was the trial, with SS then signing on for a further 5 years at Dreamworld. This would take the show through to 2006. I, however, hope that I am very wrong as I think that the land could be used for something a lot better.
  17. I would not be thinking water park for next year, but the year after. Next year I would hope to see the new coaster at the park with the water park to come the year after. I have heard that one of the crane company's on the coast has a booking for one of the theme parks for almost the whole of next year, so I would think that what ever comes next year would be worth the wait. Just a thought....
  18. I have heard that the original sets will now not be used as previously stated. This is only a RUMOR at this stage, but the first that we heard of ride using sets from the movie was when part of the film was to be filmed in Queensland. Now that the film is not shooting in Queensland, the sets might not be the original, but recreations for the ride. Again all this is only rumor and we will have to wait and see when the ride opens.
  19. I will not come right out and say that they are not for Movie World, but at this stage, all the track on site is red only. That's not to say there are other sections of the track that might be multi coloured.
  20. Opening date now slated for December 2005.
  21. Track should arrive sometime in July and Rabid will let us know as soon as it turns up, with pictures at the same old place. As far as the placement goes, with the parks future plans this was the best place to put the coaster and I think that you will be surprised when the ride is finished that having it so close to the LW will be a bonus. Cheers.....
  22. The cages for the footers are on site and the digging of the footer holes within the building is the first thing that has happened, and this is the reason that we have no construction footage as of yet. How do I know this? The cages were seen by my brother as he went to the park yesterday, and were taken into the old sound stage building, and as we both work in construction, he knew what he was on about. If they are for footers in the building, that was a guess because for all I know, that could just be the storage area for the cages.
  23. I don't think that anyone will be disappointed with the new upgrades that are coming to the park...it should be easy to see for all what the park will be getting without having to pay for entry to the park. Will have regular updates at the normal place.
  24. ^You do have to forgive Rabid...he is a Kiwi who has lived in Australia, England and the USA so spelling is a bit confusing for him...
  25. I have just arrived home after a little drive down the coast, and I happened to see a couple of trucks transporting what looks like surports towards WBMW. Just take this as a rumor for now as I was on the other side of the road when they past us....just have to keep our fingers crossed.
