Though the point I was making was that Tornado is the best slide at WnW...not the best one at all water parks here. The speed slide sides of Mach 5 are the better ones, definite the ones you want to try at some point, during my last vist I gave them quite a few goes given I was at the park solo and they were walk ons all day/ I wouldn't be worried about flying off the edge, you are a fully grown adult so you wouldn't get the air like some kid, and hey I thought we were theme park nuts here, we aren't supposed to worry about flying off the edge or wheels falling off or saftey bars coming open or whatever The slides would follow a parabolic curve, hence that feeling of weightlessness and slight amount of being airborne (you wouldn't be more than a couple of cm off the slide surface. Basically what a parabolic curve means is that the slide is following the same curve as projectile would be if it were thrown horizontally off the tower....you could take away the middle sections of the slide where you are airborne and technically you would still make it to the end. Go for it, purely just so you can clock up a ride or three on surfrider...hey you've gotta do it eventually. Plus there are the new "River Rapids" slides that replaced white water mountain to try.
-
So you didn't go on Tornado? In doing so you probably missed the best slide in the park, I have heard it described as boring before (Coincidentally by somebody who passed up riding it too) but It really is a great ride, lots of airtime and very wet. ShadowxL had the right Idea, you should have done all the Extreme H20 stuff with Surfrider first as they are popular...Mammoth and Super 8 are things you should do later in the day because they have huge capacites so the lines seem to get bad.

At Warner Bros. Movie World? you're not being serious are you ?
-
^What is so great about that ride? I mean it would have a lower top speed and acceleration rate than Superman, but at the same time a shorter track length and number of inversions than Lethal Weapon (or even corkscrew at SW) I just don't see what it would bring to the table.

Queensland Government investigates dozens of incidents
Gazza replied to dreamworld_rulz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
That was just a fire, not an explosion, It caused a sound stage to be severely damaged...anyway this couldn't be it since the incident happened in the studios, the studios aren't a theme park so It wouldn't fall under the banner of what the Qld. Government was investigating (Theme park incidents) -
Queensland Government investigates dozens of incidents

^My post was more of a specific response to DW-Rulz's comment at the end of the post and his signature. I'm not worried that much about these incidents. Dugongs hurting divers is not something you can control, the op in the sun for 4 hours just comes down to poor management, hopefully no long lasting effects from that one, I would hop they would at least provide broad brimmed hats and sunscreen for people in those sorts of positions, though at the end of the day there are many jobs out there that require you to stand in the sun. A lot of these incidents seem related to stunt shows (Could the explosion at MW be something related to the Police Academy Show) and if you are working on that sort of thing there is a higher risk of injury...I'f imagine during training and rehearsals they would have clear procedures on how to pull of the stunt with minimal risk. It frustrates me when they wont release stuff because it is "not in the public interest"...to me that just screams out "not in the interest of the company" or "not in the interests of government"...they aren't interested in the public at all, they just want to save face. I hope these sorts of things change in the future, as there are a lot of things I would have been interested on reading up on, but the organisations (Eg the media) trying to gain access to the documents have been blocked. As for the ATM incident, bleh that's the manufacturers and banks fault entirely. -
Personally, I would just go for Intamin if you were getting a launched coaster with inversions, that way you don't have to put up with the headbanging Vekomas have.

You do realize that people wouldn't care so much about you copying and pasting if you just made your own comment on the things you post up? -
So long as it had a different name, and looked visibly different to Eureka I dont see the problem. Ironic isn't it, the only ride in Goldrush is a rapids with Elephants and Dinos in the theming
-
How would you theme it? Its not enough to just build a coaster and whack a movie name in front of it If you were after a launched looping coaster I'm pretty sure B&M wouldn't be the ones to go with, Incredible hulk was a one off, Universal basically worked it into the contract that the ride had to be launched, B&M then =designed the ride, and basically said "make sure it is doing this speed at the top of the hill" and it was up to Universal to get someone else in to do the launch system. I doubt we will see another launched B&M...they dont even have it listed on their website as an option.

2008 New Attractions to keep crowds coming
Gazza replied to mattcrombie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I suppose in a few months time the rides would be well into construction anyway, and before that we probably would have guessed what they were anway. Can you scan, or take a photo of the article? Still, I have a fair bit of faith in this, 2005/06 was huge also, and all the attractions that have come out of that have been pretty good. If they are trumpeting it this much I'm expecting stuff bigger than what they have done in the past. As long as they go back to good theming I'll be happy. -
I know, I was just trying to save you the effort of digging it up.

^They are: See http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/park.php?pid=14 From memory they are building another rapid river (and some of the slides will feed into it) and they are also building a kids area 5 times the size of the current one. Great for improving capacity at the park, not so good at bulking up the line-up and providing variety. Edit: The new river is depicted here: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/in...post&id=923

^Somehow, I think that is something they do on purpose, perhaps so rafts dont skim out at high speed across the pool. On some of their rides they even seem to dump water in at the last part: Have to say though, it looks like a nicely presented park, it looks as nice as the GC ones, I think what they need to do though is bulk up their offerings a bit, I have noticed a couple of new additions seem to be a new rapid river and a second billabong beach, personally before duplicating their rides like this I would get back to basics, and maybe put in a few 2 man raft slides, better body slides etc.

Nah, WVTP just bought out locker operations for $2.7 mil Source: http://www.villageroadshow.com.au/press_re...on%20151007.pdf (page 28)

Haha I reignited the debate. The point I was making was that it wont kill or hurt you if it did hit you as people were falsely stating, obviously yes I'd rather not be hit by anything. But on rides the bar staples you down, with the main bit of the harness often being right in your lap (above where your pocket openings are) it has the effect of sealing or pressing stuff into your pockets if you get what I mean Ok look we have LW and Reptar at DW. Its not like we have any floorless coasters or flying coasters or whatever. ....And batwing. From memory I think it was like that. Wild West Falls and Looney Tunes River Ride make you take your bags etc with you. Scooby Doo makes you take your items with you (As there are no lockers for this ride, nor any storage boxes) I imagine with the kids rides you would just sit your bag or whatever in the footwell. Shrek 3D has you take your things with you, and so does Batman Adventure. Excellent point, California Screamin...a ride that has a loop de loop actually has riders taking their bags with them (and for other loose items, there are elastic storage things like on the back of car seats in the actual carriages. If the worlds most famous and successful theme park operator is willing to let people do this and sees it as safe (and remember this is in sue crazy America) then why cant other theme parks be like this? I also agree with Richo on the camera thing. If you have a camera then clearly most cant fit in your pocket (I have a little compact one and even that barely fits) Now if you have a camera, you could either keep it in your hand, or have it sliding around on the floor (where it could be damaged, or worse still, fly out the side of the car) So having it in your hand is safer. If it's in your hand, why would it make a difference whether or not it is recording? People seem to have this misconception that people would be careless with their cameras on rides, but this makes no sense, would you hold something that's worth hundreds of dollars loosely in one hand? Of course not, you would be gripping it properly and have the strap looped around your wrist, where is the danger in that? Id also like to make a point, If Movie World were truly serious about safety then why do they charge for the lockers at Superman Escape? Clearly this ride has higher risks with loose items than your average ride, so don't you think its a bit rich to make people pay just to avoid breaking the safety rules? If people are being forced to pay then clearly some are going to try to avoid using them so they dont have to pay out (especially if they are riding several times throughout the day and the cost adds up) Universal Studios gets it right in this area, at the entrance of the ride they have staff directing people to free 2hr fingerprint operated locker, so that way people have no reason not to store their stuff, and safety is ensured. It worked well there, I dont see any reason not to do it at MW, especially since MW have full ownership of the lockers. Lets face it, these people are having a day out, and probably aren't using all their brain cells, you should be making it as easy as possible for people to keep themselves and others safe.

On the ride you have to take your bags with you. How is having a bag any more of a risk than a camera?

We are keeping a professional standard, the posts are well written and are backed up properly, nobody is writing OMG or whatever. Nobody is "bashing" Churros, i certainly haven't denigrated him as a person. If you don't like people debating with each other then stay off the forums. You actually need to learn the difference between attacking the person and attacking the argument. It seems as if all you want people to do is agree with and like everything people say. Oh, and I think most people on here have been to or are in high school. Anyway, Re WWWs planning, I would have gone for something like this, and yes its all in proportion and has the same number of facilities as the existing par (actually, the current park has 50 sections of shaded deck chairs, mine has somewhere in the 70s) but it has more attractions and all without going east of cyclones loops.
-
^Yeah thats the one, though its roughly 20*30m which isn't that big, check out the Development application on the GCCC website to see the layout they went with. Remember, the tornado elements are much smaller than the full sized tornados so its not excessively big.

And you know whats even easier, to just build on undeveloped land. And the major issue I have is you have this notion that the way MLT does things is the epitome of good management and they are gurus that do everything right. Sure they might be good at pleasing shareholders like you by getting a bit of extra cash out of guests in the short term, but their attendance is falling and they just plain fall flat when it comes to providing a high quality theme park (good attractions, good theming, good experience) Well, it doesn't take me a trip to the US to 'discover' new water ride technologies. I mean I have known about Tornados since 2003 (when they were first put on the market) I really have no idea what point you are getting at there, those two things are not mutually exlusive concepts. I mean, its great they are doing these expansions, but even just 5 years into the future will see them struggling with space, to me that is poor planning. Mate, that is a bit smart arse, and hence rude. Obviously I dont have the money, time or resources to develop a whole bloody water park. I could probably come up with something better for the current site though.
-
Though they probably won't given most people don't use coaster sites (and I doubt you will coax them to post pictures) What's the point of breaking a record if you dont make a record of the event?
