  1. Well, going by RCDB for existing Intamin Launch Coasters, it could be: An Aqua Trax - That would be my first choice Reverse Freefall Coaster - With one up the road at DW, Nope! Suspended catapult coaster - Like volcano the ride, that would be cool, but i dont know if they would want to canibalise LW Impulse Coaster - Nice compact ride that could work well Half Pipe Coaster - Again, a nice compact ride that could work well Accelerator - With one just opened at MW, no way. Family/Mine train coaster - Some of these have launches, maybe lasseters lost reef could return. New Model - Maybe there could be a new coaster type where SW would be first. You never know.......
  2. Hmmm, Model T low capacity? And Big red car isnt? When i was there it was a walkon, but It wouldnt be too bad to see it removed as they could always build a new track elsewhere in the park if they wanted to keep it. They kind of wrecked it by building wiggles world, now all rivertown comprises of is a Fast Food Restaurant. And Im taking a guess, but I dont think it will be a B&M, it just seems too unlikely.
  3. Heres something I posted on Ozcoaster, but for those of you who dont go there here it is. Basically its just a quick skectch for my sort of idea for how the ride could look. I have tried to keep in line with what has been said (Eg simpler, less immersive theming, no story, openess) Basically the launch zone is behind a cast iron fence to match with the manor, so people can go up and look through the bars at the launch. The queue would be mainly housed under a replica of the batwing, and this would be the queues only main feature (Which could work to the parks favour, as a single large thematic element would be a great photo op and would be memorable, so people might spread about the ride by WOM). It would be at an off kilter angle and would be propped up by a few bent beams to give crash landed look. This would be further enhanced by scratches over the craft, wreckage strewn around the ride (This would be cheap to do, just visit a scrapyard) and removed panels on the under belly that expose the inner workins of the craft. This could provide the element of interest the people wating below, as smoke machines, sparks (by strobes), mist etc could leak from the craft. The overflow queue (not shown) would be housed under shade sails with the batman logo.
  4. Yeah, i think thats why in recent years parks have been shifting to September openings, though WVTP keeps stuffing up and opening its rides late.
  5. I have actually seen that photo before, i think it appeared on that Newspaper liftout thing about WVTP, thats why I was wondering that paticular photo wasnt used. Its a good point that Nev makes about usage Rights etc, but you would think as a company they would just put that aside and work to improve profits. And another thing, on the SE website they had a countdown to the opening of Superman Returns, which is an example of cross promotion, so maybe there arent any issues. Prehaps we could just put it down to HJs clueless marketing team, who seem to be stuck in a rut of using annoying songs and constantly advertising the Whopper.
  6. Ugggg, They keep using the words Superman, and Escape, but why cant they just mention Superman Escape and have a picture of it, its as if they are deliberatley trying to advertise it poorly.
  7. Just by comparison, How was the theming on Dr Dooms Fear Fall at IOA? It is a similar concept (A themed S&S tower) but is it overdone or does it work well?
  8. I suppose it depends on the Quantity or Quality of thrill rides. For Quantity of rides DW would indeed be on top But for the quality of thrill rides MW would be on top.
  9. lol, how can they "remain" number one for thrill rides if theyre not there in the first place?
  10. It could just be a little park with a few slides, Its not really that expensive since it would be able to use Aussie worlds exisiting infastructure. From memory the racing slide at Jamberoo was 1 million, which is not too bad for such a large expanse of fibreglass. I think for maybe only a few million (single digits) they could get a nice lineup that suits the park.
  11. The thing is is that Tornados are expensive and space consuming so having 2 wouldnt be practical, but yeah you are probably right about the lines, though i think its one of those things you would only ride a couple of times, not something you keep re-riding.
  12. DW rulz, you could go ride Sidewinders, Terror Canyon 1 & 2, Black Hole, Bombora, Pipeline, Riptide, Cascade, Mammoth Falls, Calypso Beach (All the way around) or Whirlpool. They are all pretty long slides (Remember, some of the Extreme H20 slides are Australias longest). You could go ride them.... The thing with having a twisting and turning Tornado is the impact on througput. The thing can only have one raft in it, and can only do 4 people at a time, so it would have long lines, to have more twisting and turning like some of the american parks would increase the ride time, and therefore lines. Plus IMO all it does is delay you from getting to the fun part. I think it would be better if the twists and turns were at the end of the ride, because once the raft got out of the funnel it would be safe for another raft to go in.
  13. I like the sound of this new park, Its not run by a big buisness so I think we could expect something nice, in some ways Aussie World is sort of like our Holiday World, not the biggest but still nice.
  14. Why does everyone judge stuff by the size of the supports? Is anyone here even that knowledgeable on what size supports are actually needed?
  15. No, but It has been mentioned by a few WVTP staff members.
  16. One little idea, but I doubt we will see it, is the possibilty of master blasters, since they dont require such a high towers. I was hoping that we would see more slides off a smaller tower, i wouldnt have minded if there were several shorter slides off the tower rather than 2 big ones like at WnW, but if you look at the Cyclone Helix tower you can see that there is only provision for four slides (look at the spacing between the posts on the highest level, there are 3 big gaps for the starter tubs, but where a fourth would have gone is empty. Still, we can hope for something, though they better have something because WnW is a HUGE act to follow now. Edit: I think i know why the flowrider wasnt put into the waterpark, could it be simply because the wave pool will be surfable (Like Sunway or Typhoon Lagoon)
  17. Its probably for the best, imagine the plane ride over.
  18. Its going to be fun squeezing the raft up those stairs.
  19. Well, when I was there nothing had happened, i think its just a case of Theming that is vandal proof (Though this means it is bland) The "How to Board" TVs are high up and completely inaccessible, the posters are covered with plastic, and as yet nobody had written on the walls, in fact the only "vandalisim" I saw at MW was the theming on LW as you come around the corner in the queue towards the gates. Plus the fact the area is manned helps out as the Control Room looks out over the whole queue, and there is the checker at the entrance, as well as the grouper at the top of the queue, so that would be a good detterent. Wait, i know why, everyones textas or keys to scratch with or whatever they vandalise with would be in the Lockers by that point. Hmmmm, maybe the lockers arent bad news after all. But back to it: Nobody said the innovative rides would be small did they, its all negative assumptions at this point. But anyway, I actually like the flowrider, ive been waiting for a park to put one in, and it seemed only WnW would be able to do it, but i was wrong....
  20. THANKYOU! Nice pics too, just what I've been waiting for.
  21. I think SFMM is just too well known and Enjoyed to be disposed of, the place has potential and I dont think anyone would go to the effort of ripping up 17 coasters and all the other stuff there for housing. Some of the other Parks listed such as Elich Gardens, Water World and Splash Town which are in the middle of cities would be more likely to go since they arent really major.
  22. Well, if they said "Rides and Attractions" then "Rides" would suggest conventional rides. I dont know why you would oppose New Breed attractions though, arent new rides the best ones, or are you a fan of Classic Arrow coasters or some 80s Huss rides. Personally I like new rides, like Accelerators and Screamin Squirels, Topple Towers and Tornados, Floorless coasters and Sky Swatters. How could you not want any of these?
  23. Well, you have to have some confidence in DWs decisions, have any of their new rides been flops? No (Well creature cruise maybe) so I would expect this to have a similar level of sucess. As for them going after the surfer market, well they are a market arent they, money is money so why not seek to appeal to another group. I dont think familes would be hanging out near flowrider anyway, wouldnt they be in Nick Central or Wiggles Wad? But everyone seems to be complaining about them becoming an experience park, but AWE has been there from the early days of DW, BB was just a sucessful tie in and was intialy fairly seperate from the main park. This is their only real proper "experience". I suppose you could count the joy flights too, but come to think of it, SW has them as well, hang on, SW has tons of "experiences", theres the watersports, jet skis, snorkeling and scuba diving in shark day, dolphin swims etc, and here you are complaing that DW is offering a water sport. At worst, all i can see DW doing is adding a few more upcharge things, like a skycoaster, which is actually fairly commonplace in the theme park world (Eg with CPs challenge park, SF having go carts and those big arch things) I dont think DW will stop adding rides any time soon, the competitive pressure from WVTP is too strong, and it would make me happy to see MW doing better anyway. But here is a theory I have, i think flowrider was intialy going to be a water park ride, but maybe after all the extra stuff WVTP has done (And is continuing to do) DW decided they couldnt hold out till the end of the year and opened this early to have something to compete. As for the future of DW, well they are going to have to do something with that 7 (or was it 6) million of Capex they commited per year, though they might have pissed up 10 years worth to build the waterpark (Though that might be a separate investment not counted in that) As for your question, I would like to see more experiences as DW do not deserve good rides and more "experiences" would serve to make them even worse compared to WVTP.
  24. Rabid I have actually been pretty impressed with your updates, Tornado has been well covered its just DWWP has been left in the dark for the past 3 weeks, though i dont blame you because as you said you have other commitments, and DW is a bit out of the way compared to just going next door to WnW.
