  1. I have no opinion on this topic. The only reason I voted in this was to show that the poll was badly setup. Next time you setup a poll thunder001 make it so that only one option can be selected. "The Bus is now leaving for Bad Dog Gully, NSW"
  2. Jagster not all shows have been cancelled and what rides have been closed since the announcement was made that weren't closed beforehand? Also any cancellations of shows would be due to lack of staff more than anything. As for the park operating normal hours on ANZAC day, it's disgraceful and disrespectful. ANZAC day is when every Australian (born here or not) thank all the soldiers involved in not only WW1 and WW2 but all wars that Australia has been involved in. Come on Wonderland do the right thing and open late on ANZAC day. "The Bus is now leaving for ANZAC Shoal Western Australia"
  3. It's not coming out of nowhere. I brought it up because of this comment: But as Daniel said I'm just stirring you up. "The Bus is now leaving for Stirrup Iron, Western Australia"
  4. Are you serious? What a more perfect location for a business park then the Wonderland site. It is going to be at the intersection of two of Sydney's major Motorways (M4 and M7). The first phase of the Wonderland business park is nearing completion. With just one more building to be erected (the frame started going up the other day by the way). There is a major Fruit and Vegetable distribution center, which supplies Coles. The new building going up is going to be LG's warehouse. Unfortunately for Wonderland its location was its downfall, not because it's 'out in the sticks' as some of you believe but because it is located at the intersection to two major roads. To put it bluntly it is a waste of time to lobby the local council to stop the development. Firstly, M-O-N-E-Y, the council is going to be rolling in it, all the development applications, site inspections, et cetera, et cetera. Secondly there is going to be a downturn in tourists visiting the area, but the amount of money all the employment will bring to the area (I’m talking 3000 people instead of 500) will be enormous. As for the Wildlife Park not being profitable, you obviously haven't seen the number of tourists, particularly Asians who go there for a hour or two max and spend up big. "The Bus is now leaving for Central Government Battery, Northern Territory"
  5. What do you reckon Daniel, we get back into the "loose articles on rides are dangerous" argument? Richard, are you up for it again? "The Bus is now leaving for Argument Dam, Western Australia"
  6. So Gazza, the park is just going to be 7000 waterslides, or 35 B&m's or 200 flat rides? What about all the other stuff that makes up a theme park? The food outlets, retails shops, gardens, admin and maintance buildings and what about toilets? The majority of whatever money will be spent on the park will be on these things and what goes in them (merchandise costs money you know) and also the theming of the park. Being and ABC park it will have a huge amount of theming to do. Daniel, I have done a bit of research into the mysterious 'Wodnerland' and I am getting close to finding out it's exact location. I'm 90% sure it's in the southern German state of Saar, it's capital is Saarbrücken so it's probably near there. "The Bus is now leavibf for German Valley Opal Diggings, South Australia"
  7. I will try and translate that for those of us who speak English not whatever miscellaneous language Schwarz speaks. "Why has nothing big, other than things closing down happened for a long time? Something like a new park, or new roller coasters." Is that a bit better? Schwarz, have you read any other threads on this forum lately? Like this one, this one, and this one. "The Bus is now leaving for Kitty English Reservoir, Victoria"
  8. They might have electricity but they still have horse and carriages running around the city. Maybe that's how the electricity is generated. "The Bus is now leaving for Big Rocking Horse, South Australia"
  9. Do I detect a touch of sarcasm Daniel? "The Bus is now leaving for The Sarcophagus, Victoria"
  10. Not sure about the structure but I’m sure there are some cracks in the fibreglass shell of the ride. "The Bus is now stopping at Dragon's Flight Memorial Gardens, next stop Tasmanian Devil Memorial Gardens, Wonderland Sydney, NSW"
  11. Yeah I can elaborate on the damage to Dragons Flight. It's in about 1000 pieces, all the seats are in bits, the top part with the pictures on it is in bits, the tower is in bits, need I go on? "The Bus is now leaving for Open Piece Tank NSW"
  12. Daniel, don't confuse the poor boy with big words like that. Anyway I just called Wonderland and the helpful lady (I think her name was Moriba) on the phone told me that there wasn't 100,000 people in the park on the weekend. The actual attendance on the weekend was actually 20,073,932. "The Bus is now leaving for Wordsworth Reserve, Western Australia"
  13. Shifty, I was having a go at you and your 15,000 people on the last few Saturdays. It was a joke and I think anyone with a bit of sense of humour would see that. "The Bus is now leaving for Joker Prospect Mine South Australia"
  14. Shifty can you please read this and tell us if it makes sense, when you realise that its gibberish can you please post it again, maybe in English this time. I was told by a very reliable source that there were 100,000 people at Wonderland on the weekend. "The Bus is now leaving for Whatsamatta Well, Western Australia"
  15. Ahh I see now. I was envisaging large metal plates covering the cables not a small thing like that. Are these all the way up the tower? Or are they just on the lower sections? I presume that they close as soon as the catch car passes them therefore catching the cable before the wind can blow it around. I haven't been to Dreamworld since Giant Drop opened but do these devices mean that wind is not a factor for the ride, like it is for Space Probe? Thanks for the pictures Richard. "The Bus is now leaving for Cape Gantheaume Wilderness Protection Area South Australia"
  16. I can assure you that it is definitely not Dragons Flight at the show as it is still at Wonderland, be it in many pieces. Dragons Flights is another one of those rides that have hundreds if not thousands of clones around the world. If my memory serves me correctly (I’m not that old so it should) the same ride was at last years show and was located outside the stadium near the station, or at least on that side. "The Bus is now leaving for Dragon Tree Soak, Western Australia"
  17. Richard can you please have a word to ASHLEE about his/her posts, they were bad to start with and are just getting worse, like this one: And this one: From here. ASHLEE can you please explain the last line from the first quote, I have read it a few times and I'm still baffled by it. You say that you are trying to make "good ones". Try this for starters, re-read your posts before submitting them, it only takes a second and you will make a lot more sense if you do. "The Bus is now leaving for Bus Stop Hill, NSW"
  18. Sorry Richard but that photo doesn't help me at all. To me it looks just like the guide rails on Space Probe and as far as I know that doesn't have any cable protection on it. Is someone able to take a picture of the cable protectors opened and closed so I can see the difference and how they work. "The Bus is now leaving for Upper Guide Falls, Tasmania"
  19. Does this sort of thing happen 'routinely'? If it was routine as you say, why was on section of the ride closed for so long? How did the cable hit someone in the face if it didn't snap, or break in some way? Do you have any photos of these? They sound like they could be dangerous if the gondola hits it and breaks one off. I don't know what they look like or how they work so I'm not sure if it's possible for that to happen. On the subject of cables snapping, does anyone know of anything else like that happening to other rides anywhere in the world? "The Bus is now leaving for Cables Artificial Surf Reef, Western Australia"
  20. I found this: ABC in plan for $100m theme park. "The Bus is now leaving for Danny Wimperis Adventure Playground, Western Australia:
  21. I agree that Luna Park opened at the wrong time, they should have completed the whole park before opening. I haven't been there yet, but have heard from several people that a few of the rides are not even close to being ready yet, as for the buildings and facades I’m not sure about that but if they are not finished that is disgraceful. As for Luna Park being a success this time, I’m sitting on the fence, if the lead up to the opening and the state of the park at the moment are anything to go by it may have a short future. However, as Daniel says, they have a greater focus on functions and shows, some of which sound fantastic (love the Shaolin Monks), so it could go well. Finally Shifty McShift explains his Wonderland weekend attendance figures, thankyou. "The Bus is now leaving for Crowdy Head Lighthouse, NSW"
  22. Luna Park re-opened tonight with a family session. But there was a problem, not all the rides were open. This was because the construction of them is not complete. I’m not sure of which rides were closed but if I find out I will let you know. I have also heard that there have been a few problems with WorkCover approving the rides. It's pretty disappointing that Luna Park has not got its act together and had everything ready before now. Let’s hope that they have no more problems. "The Bus is now leaving for Lunarracomp Waterhole, Northern Territory"
  23. The Oprhan Rocker is a small coaster that runs around the Scenic World complex. As far as I know it has never operated commercially, but I'm not sure if that is true or not. See here for photos. "The Bus is now leaving for Orphanage Swamp, Queensland"
  24. Not sure about Probe running only 2 cabins, next time I'm there I will ask around and find out. It hasn't been operating for a while now so I guess it is some type of mechanical or electrical problem. As for Demon having only one person there, I’m not sure what the reason was for that, maybe they were required at another ride. As for Shifty I'm not going to get into this argument again about attendances so I will refer you here. I have another thing to add to that. On December 1st 2003, Wonderland Sydney hosted the CFMEU picnic day. This was a day where all union members and their families were invited to the park. Now we are talking every construction site in Sydney closing down for the day so the workers could go to the park. If you had seen the traffic in the morning and afternoon and you compared it to any Saturday you would see that there is no comparison. Next time you are at Wonderland ask any staff member to compare the 2003 CFMEU day with any Saturday and they will tell you that there is no comparison. "The Bus is now leaving for Dead Bull Creek Right Branch, Victoria"
  25. Here we go again huh? Shifty, the 'person' you heard say 15,000 was probably a guest who was standing next to you at the time, because let me tell you that only a few people are told the number of guests in the park on any day, and those people are management and supervisors of certain departments at the park. Next time you are in the park have a look at the turnstiles, particularly the back of them (park side), you will see a small piece of black tape over the counter. I've been at the park the last five Saturdays, night included and I’m pretty sure that there has not been over 10,000 people in the park. I wouldn't be surprised to see over that number during the final weeks, but it will be pushing it. "The Bus is now leaving for Numberthown, Western Australia"
