The tornado has nothing to do with how crap their operations are - for years now.5 points

Normal operations at the Gold Coast parks make Six Flags look like Disney, and in the past few years the parks have consistently taken steps to make them generally slower still. While nobody should be surprised to find the parks busy during school holidays it’s unfair to blame guests if adequate crowd control/mitigation measures aren’t in place.4 points

As mentioned by others I’d say most of the people visiting at this time of year have pre bought tickets prior to going up north. So they need to go within a span of usually a few days they don’t have unlimited time to visit the parks. Either way the problem is very manageable. It’s not by letting less people in but by improving what you do day to day to lower wait times. I like how in your post you used those quotes and missed this one: What excuses are there for these? There are about 6 months in the year village could use to complete train rebuilds and get them online for peak time. Back in the day both major coasters would run a 2 train service from Boxing Day to early feb, and allowed guests to do their own seatbelts rather having the 2 station attendants doing a whole train full of them. You’d figure if 2 of your majors were down at the busiest time of the year (with another being replaced) managers would figure out a way to churn through people an hour on each ride efficiently. That means training their staff based on how Universal does it, or by creating a culture that values efficiency.4 points

families go on holidays and buy theme park tickets this time of year, not everyone has a choice on when they can visit, so spending $500+ then having a below average experience will make them upset, and rightfully so. yes, people should’ve expected big crowds BUT so should the park so they can implement better crowd control. staff aren’t motivated or trained to do fast operations and there are way too many people being let into the parks at once. if you can’t get everything open, either explain that when announcing you are reopening (like Dreamworld did with Tiger Island and the other animal areas) OR keep the park shut until you can ensure everything is okay to operate. I mean half the compliments are about park presentation, food, dirtiness and communication issues, stuff the park CAN fix so guests on a busy day can still enjoy their time, but stuff they don’t want to fix.4 points

People have a right to be upset. A day out at a park for a family of five runs you up several hundreds of dollars, and if your whole day amounted to ~8 hours of sitting in queues, you'd feel duped. Park-wide closures due to the weather, slow loads/unloads, 3-4 empty seats on ride cycles, single-train ops and so on all compounded together are giving paying guests a less-than-satisfactory experience, so of course they're going to speak up. Neither Dreamworld nor Movie World have enough attractions operating to keep up with demand. They're taking proactive steps to address these issues for the future, but in the interim it's reasonable to say these school holidays are not the right time to be visiting. I'm not going to rant about it in a Google review, but it's all stuff I've observed this past week, and you can feel the frustration amid the wearied atmosphere. Lots of families are giving up and leaving by lunch time. That's not a good thing for the parks or their staff, because though they've got the gate fare, they've got unhappy staff copping abuse, families not spending as much on food/merchandise, and a generally negative perception which diminishes return visitation. Was at DW today and because I somewhat know the daily crowd cycles, I was able to get my party a pretty good day out of it. We were there for ~5 hrs (yes, we got there very late) and got six different rides in, with a re-ride on ST at the end. I count us lucky.3 points

I'm hoping when Wizard Of Oz opens there will be a pathway from WWF to the area, like it shows in the concept art with people walking toward the Boomerang from behind Scooby. I think one of Movie World's biggest problems in terms of crowd management is that it is the smallest park on the GC in size by a fair margin. For example, Sea World is around 25hectares, but Movie World is half that. Assuming most people go to SeaWorld and MovieWorld, there would be around the same amount of people there, and at MW since everyone is inside a smaller space everyone is packed closer together, whereas Sea World is more spread out. Not to mention the number of dead ends in the park currently, something the other parks have less of, affecting guest flow. If they have entrances from WWF, Scooby, Superman and Main Street to WoO, it will help guest flow and reduce the amount of crowds packed together. TLDR: MW is smaller in size than the parks but has the same if not more visitors, and as a result everyone is more packed together, so there should be a new pathway from WWF to WoO to help with crowd flow.2 points

I'm sure that your attitude of "well, if the sooks didn't enjoy their experience today, they shouldn't have come" would pay the parks in dividends.2 points

For what it’s worth I attended on the 27th for the first day of Hooray for Hollywood, fully knowing how busy it was and have to echo the comments of others that ride operations simply do not work as effectively as they used to years back for whatever reason. They were running two trains on SE/DCR/RR. The skeptic in me does wonder if there’s no sense of urgency in an effort to sell more fast track. Slight note on that review FT is not automatically allocated front row, it depends on the operator and many take from general first. You can also always request which row you would like and wait for it. There are things the park could have done to be better and avoid some minor guest triggers. - Not advertise attractions as opening at 9:30AM on the website/app, staff aren’t even rostered to ensure this is possible. - WWF and HSD not being listed as closed on the website despite the park being aware it will be down all day. - Have a backup of paper maps/showtimes when there are issues with the app and/or mobile reception. - Crowd Management, was just chaos everywhere. Have some staff rostered simply to organise que’s/people especially for rides and shows.2 points

I hope they do a better job than the Chinatown alley because the alley was underdone.1 point

I would’ve much preferred that they went back to using this entrance and closing off the access from Superman entirely, just to spread the crowds out a little more rather than bottling them all up at the front. This entrance was so good and really built you up to the ride because you couldn’t see any of it. This as a grand entrance to Oz down the yellow brick road would be so good, rather than walking through the DC Universe to get there.1 point

Even re-opening the former Arkham alleyway that connects to Scooby will help significantly1 point

It was only recently Movie World updated the text description in the app for SDSC to say closed, it said “closing at the end of the school holidays” all year. Safe to say communication is not VRTP’s strong suit. The ride is also still included under rides on the app, considering the main use of the app is navigation/checking ride wait times I think it should be removed until it’s reopening. Whilst this sign change is better than the standard a-frame maintenance sign that has been outside the ride since closure I think they should do better with a custom a-frame or similar with a bit more information, maybe even concept art. People like to take photos with the ride signs/replicate old photos so I think this should have been left as is so people can do so.1 point

People cry on here when MW/SW doesn't communicate and you cry when they do communicate. What are the parks to do to please you?1 point
