  1. Yes, it is very much worth it, as it makes the ride much more visually appealing, enjoyable and interesting. It adds a great deal to the ride, because of reasons specified above. The theming must be visually appealing, flowing, interesting and if possible, have a sort of story to it. What makes it look good is a continuous flow of theming that corresponds to the ride's atmosphere. A stroyline to accompany the theming also makes it great.Theming that has had little effort/money put into it and has been hastily and poorly done. I think that theming should be quite sunstantial, but not so much that it is ridiculous or inconveniences customers. I'm not sure on the budget one. I guess enough to meet the standards that i have pointed out... Good Theming: SDSC, beggining of Batman Ride (very good as well as it has a story as well as good theming), WWF, Gold Rush Country and rides (yet they have slightly decreased in the past years). Bad: Cyclone (what is with this theming...what are they trying to do with that turbine??? If they had made all those weather things actually point towards something, then maybe), Batwing (could've been better, quite minimal), Dreamwolrd's Main Street and various other areas of the park that are slowly going downhill and Tower of Terror (some bits are alright but they really could've done more with it. Even when I was a little kid I have enjoyed good theming accompanying rides. There have been some really great examples of theming in the past and some even today. But theming these days just seems to be really a let-down with most rides. Theming should all be about creating something that will give you a a really good in-depth setting and make you feel like you're actualy in a different place from the park. Anyway, I won't blab on anymore, but I just hope that theming on rides to come improves.
  2. I'd just like to point ou the fact that SE has a very in-depth video loop playing every 2 minutes or so which is very specific in terms of loading procedures.
  3. You've summed up really well exactly what DW's current problem is. I especially like the term 'Rustic' Aussie Feel. That's a really good description of what so many long-time fans of DW have been longing for ever since it started to change to the new modern park with carports for queue lines ...
  4. Wow, I didn't realise that the track curved upwards so quickly. Wouldn't it be a little difficult for riders get on? Or would they let people on one row, and then move it forward a bit so that the next row could get on, so on so forth?
  5. Thanks very much, Gazza. If anyone else also has any, it would be greatly aprreciated.
  6. Would anyone happen to have any pictures of the Tower of Terror and perhaps the Giant Drop as well during their constructions? I have always been interested to see it in it's construction stages, but it was a while ago and I haven't come across any construction pics anywhere.
  7. Where did you manage to get a copy of the WWW loop? I don't really want it, but I'm just interested in where you got it.
  8. Woah, I can't believe the queue area used to look so good.
  9. Do you think that maybe some padding on the restraints could make it more comfortable for riders? Not that you would stop hitting yours ears, but they would be hitting soft padding...
  10. This wasn't the one at Kentucky Kingdom was it?
  11. We seem to have a reason already, though, assuming that DW has been telling customers the truth. Though it may not be entirely related to the topic of Eureka Mountain, it seems apparent that Richard is replying to this coment of yours: Richard has just pointed out ways of 'knowing' that a ride will close, without making any reference that the reasons he is highlighting are the reasons that EM is closed, but just replying to your post above.
  12. Would you be able to provide any information as to what these malfunctions are?
  13. Thanks for the pics. IMO i think that the turn should have a bit more banking than the limited or zero banking that it has now. Big 6 thrill rides? Is this sarcasm? You can't tell over the internet...
  14. Was this just a rumour or are there still plans for this attraction?
  15. matty_o your DW recreation was so good! You HAVE to do another recreation. If you can't do MW try SW. It would be great if you did another one, DW was top notch.
  16. Are these 'large permanent magnets' the earth magnets? There's been alot of talk lately about GD's braking and how the whole system works. I have a few question: Does the GD have earth magnets like the TOT? If so, are they the magnets that everyone has been talking about as the 'fail-safe' magnets on GD, or are they back-up magnets to another set of magnets?
  17. Could it be possible that DW has not closed GD because they are trying to display the confidence they have in their rides? I don't know, just a suggestion...
  18. This was on nineMSN this morning: Giant Drop stays open after US horror http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=274899
  19. To make more money from a seperate admission fee, perhaps? I don't know, I'm just guessing.
  20. Great job! Finally, we have shed some light on the subject which has been behind construction walls for so long. Good thinking, as well, djb.
  21. I also went and lined up at the beggining of the day for SE when I visited MW and, as happened to you wakeboardandy, it rolled back after the first launch. Several other rides had been playing up that day, as well. So we went to guests services and we got escorted to the front of the ride when it re-opened. MW guests services is great, they really do well to keep their guests happy, which is great as it adds to the reputation of the park and certainly made a great impression on me. Sorry, that was a bit off topic.
  22. When you say you're interviewing the park, are you going to walk up to the front gate and start asking the wall what it thinks of the new developments? Just pulling your leg buddy. When are you having this interview?
  23. No, actually I'm saying I would like nice big rides like WWF in MW where they belong. And I would like som water-based rides at water parks.
  24. Personally, I hope they don't. I hope WWW just sticks to the normal flow of a water park and just have the normal kind of of water park attractions. I'm not saying don't go and get rid f new rides like hydrocoaster and the new rides, I'm talking about rides with some brittle link with a water ride (for example surf rider.) I think WWW should just stick with the theme they've got going, it seems to be working well and it's enjoyable.
