  1. Wont be just a "wrap" onto the existing train, as there were reported sightings earlier that the coasters original train was sitting out in the bolt graveyard whilst the new train was in the station. The design of the carriages also looks different compared to the original cars.
  2. There may not be an existing lake at Movie World, but there is a very close by swamp...
  3. I agree, its a good start but its lacking polish. The fountain could be better. I also don't quite understand why they didn't attach the Dreamworld logo to the globe and have it spin with the globe. Sure it won't be picture perfect everytime, but it sure would look nicer than having an extra support system to hold it up, and it I also love (I use the word loosely) the "temporary barrier" as a fence on the deck. Credit where credit is due, its a good start, but it seems a few silly decisions were made in the design phase without properly thinking it through. I'm just glad though that they didn't wrap it in that awful "Happiness" banner...
  4. I'm of the opinion that the churro stand looks great for Dreamworld Standards. There was a time where the people in charge did just whatever without any thought as to how it blends in, which is why we have a situation where Main Street is full of Brightly coloured buildings instead of more aesthetically pleasing tones. The same thing happened to the paddle wheeler. I am impressed that Dreamworld in recent times have been making sure any works they do fits in with the surrounds. For example, the new ticket gates behind the tickets windows on Main Street, there was a time where I'd expect them to just be a carport (case in point, look at Vintage Cars). Current management did the roof over the ticket gates to match the most iconic part of Dreamworld which it sits next to, the entry building. I for one applaud the park for replacing that hideous RCT style churro stand with something that fits in and matches the building around it. I can't wait to see the outcome of the Ice Cream Shop works.
  5. They may have other music mixed in, but I can assure you they also have theme specific instrumental tracks playing in Kung fu panda, shrek and Madagascar. I agree that it's not all themed music from the respective films soundtracks, however they have gone to the effort to ensure the area has an upbeat feel as well as tried to keep it all in theme.
  6. Just on that, they also have area specific music for Dreamworks area. Each mini land has its own music, for instance, Kung Fu Panda has music from the soundtrack playing.
  7. According to the website, the Vintage cars aren't currently open at all. Anyone know if this is accurate?
  8. I think you can count on Turtles getting a themed ride or area atleast. There seems to be a water tower on site already which looks similar to a water tower seen elsewhere in the turtle world...
  9. If the Peter Brock cars that are presumably coming are indeed a temporary exhibit (be it like Dino Island) then it is entirely possible that they could also put them on the old blue lagoon site. They have done something similar before with a few temp mazes, which is why there is concrete there instead of the old pools. The building they had on that slab is now the building which houses Zombie Evilution. On the construction under cyclone, well it's hard to say, as no one knows the footprint or scale as to what they are doing, however if they were extending the redline building to house these cars, there is a large amount of space back of house where they could fit it in without affecting day to day operations. I think we now need to play the "wait and see" game.
  10. My fiancé and I went to Dreamworld today, and noticed some demolition and construction work happening under the cyclone and behind redline. We also noticed the small corridor between cyclones entry building and redline had some temp fencing. If I was to speculate, Cyclone getting the v8 refurb, new Peter Brock car exhibit behind redline.
  11. I'd settle for new trains or a complete rebuild of the current fleet with air conditioning retrofitted and the ability for them to run faster. It's kind of pathetic when it takes 20+ minutes to get around the circuit and by the time it gets to the resort station it is packed full of park guests stranding many resort guests on the platform. I mean first come first served sure, but isn't one of the selling points of the resort the ability to catch the monorail into the park therefore making it easier?
  12. As if the parks weren't busy enough, now every cat and their dog will be getting memberships. Disney did this years ago (albeit more expensive) but it is believed it is one of the major contributing factors that the Disneyland resort no longer has an off season. Now was the time with this pass to introduce blackout periods and different tiers, and they just blew it. Good work!
  13. I don't quite understand why a retheme of Cyclone is considered to be a new lift system, new train? Is there something operationally wrong about the existing lift hill mechanisms? Granted the trains are in a horrid cosmetic shape, but that's nothing that can't be fixed up in a small monthly refurb. Changing the trains "theme" can also be done at the same time with a plastic wrap (similar to what you see on buses and other public transport vehicles which have all over advertising). Queue line work, well, yes that requires a bit of work if the talk about it being rethemed is true, but if you truely think about it, the work required isn't really anything that can't be achieved in a month with a small team. We have to remember that the work such as re theming a queue line isn't done by in house maintenance employees...
  14. Is Redline still open? Last time I was at the park it was closed, and previous to that I have not seen too many people taking part in the attraction. Pie in the sky thinking, could it be that Redline is out, and turning into a Brock or v8 Museum with an expansion of the building, and Cyclone gets a small retheme/ overlay to fit the v8 focus of the area? If it's a car museum, it's kind of a return to the past when the park had the Giltraps Auto Museum move into what is now the Marketplace.
  15. The monorail is another attraction which has been a victim of this operating style for some time now. Very slow, one train operation. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a timetabled service, but it's not, and even on some days it's a struggle to even get a seat on the thing. I haven't seen it go a speed faster than walking speed for a long time now, nor have I seen more than one train on the track for a while. Is it knocking on deaths door as well, or is it just a case of poor operation practices?
  16. Just a hunch, but I don't ever think anyone was aiming for a 2015 opening. I'm happy to be corrected, but with little amount of activity happening within the mountain (thanks Andrew) I think its safe to assume that 2016 will be the year if the project proceeds as planned. Remember that a new CEO for Ardent has now started and has already caused some waves within the park. Lets see where we go from here, but lets not get too confident that 2015 will be the year that Eureka reopens to the public.
  17. Yeah, I feel the cast chosen did a good job playing the roles they were assigned. Linda Cardelini and Matthew Lillard being the stand out performers. Maybe I have personal vested bias, maybe I don't, and movies depend on peoples personal likes, but I thought it did a great job of bringing the cartoon to life.
  18. Whats with all the hate towards the live action Scooby? It was well casted, and well scripted. Yes the follow on movie (SD2) wasn't anywhere near as good, but the live action original was damn good. The theme is still relevant and well done despite some maintenance issues. I would say it could do with some plussing as has been suggested above, but certainly a change in theme to a generic scooby cartoon would be a step backwards IMHO.
  19. Mono means one and Rail means Rail. The old plantation tour had 2 rails. The rails did look similar to a monorail track, but I can assure you it was no monorail.
  20. Thanks for your story ThrilLSeekerNoMore. From all accounts and as frightening as it may have been, the park followed procedure, and i'm sure some employee's could confirm that the breakdown message "Sorry for the delay, the ride will start up again soon" is a recorded message, heck possibly even automated once the E Stop procedure has been triggered. Good to see a happy ending to the story, and don't let it stop you from Thrill Seeking, it is still safer to ride Roller Coasters than many other things in life.
  21. Makes you wonder why there is no redundancy incase all the wheels fall off on your car whilst you are driving, or that there is no harness for a commuter train to be caught when a trains wheels fail in this fashion.... I'm not going to come on here and say the failure wasn't bad, because it was bad, and somewhat shocking to see an incident like this happen in Australia, but it happens It doesn't matter how many redundancies you have in place, redundancies can fail, and machines can break down, and sometimes there is a thing called overkill.

    Bush Beast NL2

I wasn't aware of the other one that had been done Flea. Thanks Alex and Flea for your input, for my first coaster I'm reasonably happy especially considering its my first no limits coaster.

    Bush Beast NL2

So I have been playing on NL2 for a few days now, and thought i'd give a crack at doing the Bush Beast ex Australias Wonderland wooden coaster since no one has done it before (to my knowledge anyway). Still a bit of tweaking to do, and I need to work out how to build some custom structure (namely the storage shed and brake run roof covering). Whilst its not 100%, I think its reasonably close.
  24. One would hope and think a revamp of the v8 redline wouldn't be significant enough to justify it being mentioned on the report, especially considering the Tiger Island refurb wasn't mentioned at all. From what I understand, as claw said the refurb for Tiger Island is going to be a rather large investment. The whole island will be shut off for a while, so it isn't a case of it just getting a facade refit. So slightly off topic, but the V8 investment must be significant. Time will tell. Hopefully we see a new coaster out of it (think i305 style).
  25. So according to the Ardent Half Yearly Results presentation, we can expect a new V8 Supercars attraction at Dreamworld by end of the year.. http://www.ardentleisure.com.au/Resources/Documents/AAD-HY14-Results-Presentation---Final.pdf Lets hope its something better than that Redline attraction...
