Glad to see they have finally replaced it! It was falling apart back in 2011 when I worked there haha.

The whole dark ride portion of the coaster has walkways which you can be evacuated from. That and any area that has brakes on it has a catwalk to enable evacuation in the event of a ride stop so you wouldn't just be stuck there. If the ride goes into a e-stop they will under NO circumstances restart the ride without a full evacuation.

Generally with Scooby if it stacks up to the hairpins it tends to fault. Most of the time the ride can be reset, but occasionally it can't be reset causing an evacuation. Movie World has 2 voiceovers for each major attraction (Superman, Scooby, Justice League, Green Lantern and Wild West). You have a female one which is generally played first which alerts staff to prepare for a potential evacuation and the lights come on. "Ladies and Gentlemen, It is necessary to stop the ride temporarily, please remain seated and the ride will continue shortly." This also signals to the entry host to stop allowing people to enter the line in case of an evacuation. After a pre-determined amount of time most of the rides will go into an e-stop if they fault can't be rectified. Or in scooby's case, one fault might be fixed and then another fault will happen causing a "cascade stop" This is then followed by a Male voiceover instructing riders what is happening. "May I have your attention please, it is necessary to stop the ride. An attendant will be on hand shortly to assist you from the ride. When exiting the ride, please leave via the exit doors marked by exit lights, follow the directional lines to the marshalling area situated at the front entrance of the ride. Once again, someone will be on hand shortly to assist you. Thank you" And this keeps repeating. Still kinda sad that nearly 3 years later and I still remember everything like clockwork. Could probably even go back there and remember how to operate everything haha. A fun fact though, the most common locations for a fault to occur on Scooby is the Lift, Turntable and the block section around the corner from the unload station. Also, in regards to what Flea is asking, Scooby is ran fully automatic from the control panel. The control relief supervisor actually has no role during normal operation apart from observing the cameras and the load station. The ride is physically operated by the attendants at the load platform and unload platform and there are 5 e-stops on the ride (Load, Unload, Lift, High Zone and MOCC) When the ride faults the ride kicks into semi manual mode which is when the supervisor comes into play, where he can attempt to reset certain faults. However if it's a lift or turntable fault the ride will be e-stopped as cars can not be moved on the turntable or lift with passengers in it. Also I think it's 90 seconds with any cars stopped in high zone that the ride goes into e-stop if i'm not mistaken. Most rides at Movie World have minimal actual operation by the supervisors except for initial startup. Wild West for example if all goes well the supervisor will only have to hit the station stop button throughout the day and the e-stop at the end of the night.

The ride had a new control system put in over the old Vekoma software for the trains. This would be due to the seat unlocking mechanisms mostly more than anything though. Compared to the Lethal days where they would have to unlock the whole train and then re-check they can unlock individual seats from the touch panel on the OCC. I am also fairly sure now that the ride is unable to run 2 trains due to the way the brakes are set up. If you recall when it was Lethal the train would come to a complete stop on the first set of brakes before coming into the second brakes before the transfer track. This is also where a train would be held whilst another was transferring in or out of the maintenance bay. Now with the Eddy Current brakes the train doesn't actually fully stop, it glides to a very slow pace before continuing around the corner towards the station. I know they were talking about adding a second train possibly in the future depending on how popular the ride became. As they were not sure if the new trains would rid Arkham of it's shocking reputation before hand. Obviously Village Roadshow have determined not to invest in a second train for various reasons, most likely a financial standpoint as they would have to buy a whole new train (bogies and all) compared to the lower cost of refitting an old train. The only way I could potentially see them ever getting a 2nd train is if a SLC goes up for sale and they manage to buy a used train and convert it, but I very much doubt that now. FYI the red and blue trains were cannibalised in early 2010 and the last time that the ride ran 2 trains was xmas holidays 2009 - 2010

Circus of the Dammed was a good show back in 2011 from what I saw when working there. Something like that could possibly work again. But I really think they should up the game for a DECENT show in the HSD arena.

Superman Escape can be a little bit iffy for larger guests. My advice for Wild West Falls if your unsure, sit in your own row so you can spread out a little bit to get more comfortable. It also makes it easier for the lap bar to come down. Batwing is fairly lenient too. From an ex MW op If you have any other questions I will do my best to help out.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

Those fences are new, can't really see the car clearly in the picture though... -
The sensors to trigger the effects are a very simple photo eye system. Walking past them does trigger the sensors for the effects. As far as i'm aware the final scooby hasn't had his mouth moving in quite a few years if ever. It never moved from 2011 - 2013 when I worked there.

There is no "switch" for the staff to hit to turn on and off each effect at the start of the day. The ride is inspected by AV and tech services each morning before being handed over to the operations department at about 9:15am. The supervisor + a staff member do a full track walk of the dark ride section of the ride to make sure all the effects are working and to make sure other things like emergency exits are not obstructed. They also check the high zone parts of the track where the catwalks are to make sure all mounting points for the staff to be harnessed to in an evacuation are in working order and to turn the smoke machines on. Basically if any effects are not working properly they get written in the maintenance book to be looked at for the next day. Depending on what the effect is it can be fixed whilst the ride is in operation behind the scenes but generally it has to be fixed once the attraction is closed. Sadly the park isn't going to delay opening of the ride for a simple effect not working (axes etc) unless it's a 2 minute job but most of the time it could delay opening by upwards of a hour depending on the severity. Obviously if any defects are found in anything like the mounting points or an exit is obstructed the ride will not open until that issue is rectified. The turntables and lifts are also inspected in the morning too before actual ride testing begins at around 9:45am where cast members test the lap bar mechanisms, station stops etc before opening at 10am sharp. Track walk tends to take about 20 - 30 minutes depending on how quickly the staff can be assed walking / jogging used to be my morning workout!

Would just like to clarify Batwing's height restriction is 123cm not 140cm

I'd personally love a Vekoma Roller Skater for Sea World over a Zamperla offering. Road Runner is a very good roller coaster for kids / families and a custom layout would be perfect for Sea World.

Tower of Terror Original, will it ever return?
Spotty replied to Andrewh's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Won't be happening any time soon or ever again most likely. The old car weighed a truckload more than the new one and would have required more power to launch such a heavy car. It would also be unfeasible / impossible for them to have a way of running alternating cycles with the car. The only way you will ever be riding ToT forwards again is if they reverse the new car or install back to back seating. But it won't happen. -
I thought I recognised that music from somewhere!! I kept thinking it all night long when I was there last week.

Even funnier if it happens to be a West breakdown. Happened to me when I was at Superman and got swapped to West. Had to sit in Lift because guests couldn't see me clearly, and then change into my "Park Uniform" on my first break. Ah, fun times. -

Movie World ride operators only wear the "Park Uniform" for Scooby Doo, Shows staff, WBK / RoadRunner and breaks. If your working on Superman, Arkham, GL (if / when it re-opens), West, JL, Batwing you have to wear a designated uniform. Even if your only going there for 30 minutes your meant to wear a costume. The only exception was if you were going to Scooby Doo lift or high zone or Wild West Falls lift room where guests wouldn't see you break the theme. I still remember that one time when Scooby Doo evacuated whilst I was in High Zone wearing an Arkham jumpsuit... the guests were a bit confused haha. Even some of the food and beverage staff wear special uniforms depending on the outlet they work in. -

^ Worked well at Movie World -
Went to Aussie World this weekend, and I will say although it's not as big as Infinity the Illusionarium is a great addition to the park and was very popular (20 minute wait, although due to the low capacity too) The staff at the park were once again awesome, and because I arrived at 3pm when the park closed at 5 the staff at the front gate only charged me and my friend for 1 admission as it was so late in the day. Didn't even ask they just did it. Every single ride had a dedicated staff member, the park was immaculately clean and every single staff member seemed genuinely happy to be there. Aussie World really has grown in the past few years, and I hope that the park continues to see as much success as it;s been having in the coming years.

Back when I was there if the flaps were not working the ride wouldn't operate... shortly after I was trained on it that procedure went out the window
-
If i'm not mistaken, the reason is that Superman always has to be seen "flying" and obviously a roaming character can't do that. It is why Superman has the flaps between the load / unload station as it's meant to prevent guests from seeing him motionless. At least that's what I was told when I was trained on the ride in 2012.

Can't even see Lethal Weapon in the background so i'd say between 1991 and 1995 that pic was taken.

Space Probe 7: The Ride would be by far my favourite drop ride that I've been on, closely followed by the Giant Drop. Purely for the theming and the overall experience is why I rate SP7 higher. I would love a ride like that back in AU with a decent storyline. If Movie World didn't already have BatWing it could have been a great idea for a drop ride to be themed to a generic alien movie.

Tailspin keeps breaking down at DW?
Spotty replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WipeOut's maintenance has been pushed back to April now. 20/4/15 - 10/5/15 BuzzSaw is now closed until the 22nd of March and Tailspin is down till the 28th of Feb. -
Water wasn't working yesterday either... Scooby had lasers going (the new coloured ones look great!) and was full of fog but pretty much none of the animatronics in the dark ride were working (axes, scooby near the lift... the werewolf that jumps out too...) It was really quite a shame. Wild West Falls was running great too with the mist even working at the reverse element too! First time in nearly 3 years i've seen it work.

The park's new opening hours appear to be 9am according to the Dreamworld website. With rides opening at 9:30am outside of holidays / weekends and 9am on weekends. Great to see even just an extra hour of trading -
The Royal Canberra Show is on the 27th feb - 1st of March. It has had the Crazy Spinning Coaster appear in previous years but wouldn't be 100% if it's attending this year. http://www.canberrashow.org.au
