Yeah, where abouts were you working? I think it took about 30 minutes to get in the front gate even! But yeah, there was a evacuation at around 1:30pm that lasted 10 - 15 minutes. Then at around 2:00pm another evacuation that lasted 10 - 15 minutes. And then at around 3pm there was a 35 min evacuation. And SurfRider's Jets were running earlier in the day but not in the afternoon. And I think Wet n Wild could go with a whole park paintjob. I mean Surfrider and Tornado are just some examples, but not to mention black hole and other slides.

I was down at Wet n Wild today, despite having to be evacuated from the slides / pools several times from storms. Surfrider was experiencing ALOT of tech issues. It had several breakdowns, ranging from the floors getting stuck to harnesses not releasing. And also one of the rings (the one facing AOS) isn't spinning at all for some reason. The harnesses have also seen better days, the black rubber is starting to really show through the blue. The cycle has also got SHORTER... You get 2 full shuttles before slowing right back down to stop, along with the water not working. And is it just me or does Surfrider REALLY need a new paintjob?

Fire Warnings a Threat to Dreamworld
Spotty replied to ThemeParksAustralia's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, I can imagine. I've seen a few incidents at Dreamworld over the past few years. One comes to mind that I saw about 9 months ago now. Someone was in Goldrush and somehow managed to crack there head open. I then went into "Fairytale Treasures" and told a staff member, within about one minute there were several medics and staff sorting the situation out. So this would be another example of how efficient the systems they have in place really are. -
Fire Warnings a Threat to Dreamworld

Going by what Joz is saying, Yes the staff will panic and worry. But they will not show this, Recently working at Movie World there fire training was very informative. It was brief but it focused on the main points: What to do in the event of an Evacuation (Remain Calm, and Get staff and patrons out via the quickest safe route) Fire Extinguisher usage and all the other general stuff. I would presume that Dreamworld / WhiteWater World would have similar training practices available. So the staff would know what to do in the event of an Evacuation. And as it has been previously mentioned, Dreamworld staff have to have a refresher course every year and it is also part of COMPULSORY company induction. Also never seeing a mass evacuation before, I can't judge on how promptly they could evacuate the whole property, but it would be quicker than a standard "Home Time" procedure. But one thing that would take some time to do and would be VERY risky, is the animals. Now back in 2003 when there was the Canberra bush fires (which I was there for) They had to evacuate the National Zoo / Aquarium, and I have NO idea what they did with the animals. There is no way they would have been left there as the whole parkway (main road) going past there was completely closed off. So that would raise another interesting point with evacuating the park. -
LOL... Thats the song you sent me isn't it? I pity you, and also Dreamworld, there is only so many times you can play the same Jamiroquai song before it gets old. (And that goes for Don't Phunk With My Heart too...)

LOL! Lucky bums! And that announcement seems similar to the Pre Recorded Bermuda speil. "Attention riders, it is necessary for us to temporarily stop the ride, please remain in your boat at all times until a staff member escorts you off the ride. We apologize for the inconvenience." I think my record is hearing that 6 times in ONE day... I think the aliens had something to do with it

At Dreamworld / WhiteWater World today, I couldn't see any progress. Not even any earth moving seems to have happened...

Same, working at Red Rooster is a pain in the backside. One three hour shift a week just doesn't cut it.
-
Well Shadow, If your heading in let me know. I still think we should round up a heap of members for the last show!
-
I will probably be down on the 30th too to see the last show. We should plan a meetup to go see the last show!

Dreamworld's food is actually starting to pick up. I paid 10 dollars for a large chicken and chips (with MAP discount) and the chips were hot and crispy, and the chicken was a little bit greasy. It wasn't too greasy, but enough to make it not dry. I was actually very suprised with the quality. And I was able to eat it all minus a few chips. I did feel sick afterwards, but I later found out I had the flu so that was probably the reason!

Maintenance for those dates have not been posted yet, but September should be okay as it's right near the winter / spring holiday period. I will keep you updated though if you like. EDIT: I found these rides listed on the sea world website. They MAY clash if you go early September. Bermuda Triangle will be closed 21 July - 31 August inclusive for scheduled maintenance. The Water Park will be closed 4 - 31 August inclusive for scheduled maintenance. The Sky High Skyway will be closed 1 - 14 September inclusive for scheduled maintenance.

As of earlier today Batwing was running. I don't know how long it's been operational for though.

Like having Paris Hilton near candles? We know what happened there last time

Ah okay, I won't disclose who was involved. But the incident was on Space Roller. I wasn't 100% on what was allowed to be said or not in regards to the incident. Cheers for that Dj. I wish the person involved a speedy recovery. And I hope that the people who did this get punished appropriately for there actions! Chances are the people were half drunk, brought a ticket and were refused entry. Despite there would have been signage saying "Riders will be refused entry if Intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. NO refunds" * Now... That is not what actually happened (as far as we know) but it could have just been one of the many scenarios.
-
Knowing the operator in question I can't believe that these things can happen. It just shows what the world is coming to. I sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. I am actually not able to disclose what ride this incident happened on at this stage, but I will keep you updated.

I'll have one thank you!

The Official Jet Rescue construction thread
Spotty replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think I managed to find the longest sentence ever in these forums! Seriously guys... Full stops and punctuation are your friend. On another note how the hell are Goldfish deadly?! And since when is Bermuda wild? I mean the ride itself isn't that spectacular, It's the theming that makes it great! And faster than MDMC? That can't be hard now can it -
From what is being mentioned by showmen that I am in contact with it actually seems to be staffing issues at the moment. It was one of the reasons a few major rides didn't show up at EKKA last year (Thunderbolt mainly) Now weather or not this is 100% accurate I don't know. But it's what has been going around lately.
-
Yeah, the stuff they use in Queen Street is rather good, I'd much rather them have it in segments like sails than a full roof to be honest.
-
I know the ride goes around 64kph on the launch, so if someone could do the maths And I also don't think S+S Power make Higher SpaceShot models, I think Batwing is the highest they build.
-
Weather or not what Bikerman says is true, It doesn't seem too far fetched now. Considering the ride has been down for so long... all I can say is R.I.P eureka
-
I think it will start where Stars Cafe ends, all the way upto the FujiFilm shop. But i'm not sure.

That and it was a freaking expensive ride to buy, and because it's so huge and the ride experience is VERY intense. They can charge more for the experience. No limit was brought 2nd hand from Europe and was still around 1.5mill to buy minus the shipping costs. Another factor as to why it's so expensive is the nature of the ride means higher insurance premiums (this is the MAJOR reason the showmen have to charge so much for the rides is so they can keep up with the rising premiums) And not to mention fuel prices constantly on the rise etc.
-
From what I have recently heard, the weather this season was only ONE of the reasons for the new roof. One of the other major reasons is to do with events. I can't say anymore but thats what I've heard.
