  1. @djrappa @AlexB sounds like one of your favourite type of people.
  2. Maybe the raft in the incident was the first one through after a test cycle or two, in relation to the problems they had even having that morning. That might have possibly explained why the raft in front was already empty, as the ones ahead of it likely were as well. Alternatively, maybe it somehow rolled back a bit after the previous passengers had already disembarked (maybe due to the pump failure) and then subsequently got stuck. Once again, all pure speculation on my part and open to alternative suggestions.
  3. Thanks @AlexB. Definitely more food for thought. It's ok. Not upset. Just want to clarify what I said earlier, as I don't want anyone to think I want to see the CCTV for reasons other than getting my head around the chain of events that led to something of this scale taking place. I admit that I'm still struggling to accept how exactly of this magnitude happened, especially for what I've known for 30 years to be a harmless family ride, also knowing that those two small kids managed to escape at what would have even an extremely crucial time. The mind just boggles
  4. I'm aware of that. As I said, the human nature in me is just curious to see exactly how the physics played out in regards to the raft tipping. I certainly don't want to see the aftermath of it.
  5. Sounds like we've had different experiences. My best friend went to Sea World last Wednesday and said it was like a ghost town, he walked through a large chunk of the middle of the park (including the Food Plaza) at midday and could count the number of people he saw along the way on one hand. A few of us here attended Fright Nights as a group last Friday night and couldn't believe how quiet it was either, we only had to wait 5-10 mins at at a time for mazes. Given it was the second last night, it was expected to be a heck of a lot busier.
  6. More likely to be a domino effect after what happened at Dreamworld. If the obvious visual drop in attendance numbers at both Sea World and Movie World last week are anything to go by, I dare say a lot of memberships would have unexpectedly freed up since then.
  7. I've read numerous suggestions now as well that when the failed pump reactivated, it may have caused a huge gush of water to have come through the conveyor belt end, which could have very well even what launched the raft up onto the empty one and (with its rear end stuck in the conveyor belt at the time) consequently tipped it up. Once again, all media speculation. But I thought this to be a plausible explanation. I guess we are all trying to play the scenario out in our head with different possibilities, just to try and piece together exactly what made it physically occur in the first place. I don't want this to sound the wrong way and I admit that although it will likely never happen, but I confess that a small curious part of me wants to see the CCTV footage just to see the physics of HOW it happened. I'm still trying to get my head around it. But the rest of me doesn't, because I don't want to see any of the graphic outcome
  8. http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/dreamworld-founder-ive-lost-a-lot-of-tears-over-the-terrible-accident/news-story/b0b462719bb389e530719000d959f788 Dreamworld founder John Longhurst is reported to have very distraught over the incident This article also gives a lot of insight to the history of the park. Worth a read.
  9. Sure did ? #istandbydreamworld And yep, I've seen the same thing on a few others as well. Along with a couple of other very lengthy public anti-media rants... following my own recent one, of course ?
  10. Agreed. I saw that article pop up in my news feed this morning and rolled my eyes. The media really are clutching at straws with the dirt dishing if they think her upbringing has anything to do with what happened at Dreamworld last week. On a side note whilst talking about the media, I was approached via my blog yesterday by the GCB. They wanted permission to utilise one of my photographs with credit for their latest article about the MW Coaster. After some thinking and advice from friends and my husband, ultimately decided against it, mainly out of disgust and protest for the way they and other similar media outlets have handled the Dreamworld incident. They can bite me ??
  11. http://www.9news.com.au/national/2016/11/01/03/33/no-call-this-week-on-dreamworld-s-future/?ocid=9newsgcfb According to this new article, the investigation into the River Rapids incident is expected to take months.
  12. No, nothing has been confirmed, and won't be until Movie World make an official announcement. This will likely be delayed now, due to a certain recent happening at a nearby park.
  13. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon. The event was pulled first thing Thursday morning, less than 48 hours later. So I don't think there was really enough time there for ticket sales to "dry up". However it is true that they had not sold well in general over the past couple of weeks. I put it down to the event being held on a Monday. Not exactly everyone's ideal party night, especially with the Melbourne Cup on the following day. But that obviously wasn't their fault, given they don't control what day of the week Halloween Falls on each year. Last year it was a Saturday night from memory, so it coincided with the Sat night Fright Nights. That's right. They added the Final Party a couple of weeks in.
  14. Yeah, he's been doing that for a good couple of months now. It was part of the VR upgrade to the theming.
  15. Obviously. I didn't even notice until after you'd pointed them out.
  16. Has anyone happened to have seen a fundraiser anywhere for Cindy Low's family? I'd like to donate them an identical amount, especially for her small son, but have had no luck so far coming across one online
  17. My daughter, best friend and I made the decision to stop by Dreamworld late yesterday afternoon to pay our respects before heading to MW. This was the second visit for me, and I was absolutely overwhelmed with how many more floral and candle tributes have been added by the community in the last couple of days, along with stuffed toys, cards and letters. It made for a beautiful but heartbreaking sunset. The lingering storm in the distance definitely set the bitter-sweet tone of the moment. Will be stopping by again tomorrow, on the request of both my kids whom have expressed an interest in wanting to add tributes of their own there for both families. Such a tragic situation overall. Still can't believe this has actually happened ???
  18. Looks like it's a massive safety crackdown for all Queensland theme parks now... absolutely no chances are being taken. http://www.news.com.au/national/australian-theme-parks-to-undergo-safety-blitz/news-story/3724f2ba0b87abc4ff37298fd7f89797
  19. I second that. I would absolutely be not going ahead with any park purchases right now. In fact I'm surprised the website is even allowing transactions atm, given everything is all up in the air at this time Not that I don't doubt for a second that the park will pass it's safety audits, but that's one of many things that could change the park's future with reopening. It's a one step at a time process. We all just have to be patient.
  20. Man, I have photographs I took of Eureka maintain about half an hour before the accident happened. They include the TRR reservoir and the river itself whilst in operation. Anyone know if I should be forwarding them onto anyone? I don't know if it they would be classed as a form of evidence or not, given that they were still taken a little while before the incident occurred. ETA: just jotted the QPS a quick email. No harm in offering if they may potentially help in any way.
  21. Wow. That would most definitely include the Buzzsaw too then, given it shares a fence with TRR and is literally right next door. Looks like it's going to be back to being the Big8 for quite a while then, huh ? That said, and with the Buzzsaw out of the equation, the Gold Rush area can be quite easily fenced off without affecting traffic flow throughout the remainder of the park (fence at GR main entrance, fence at bridge near Giant Drop). Honestly though, at this stage, I'll just be relieved for the park to continue operating, in light of all the malicious rumours and speculation that it may "never open again". I never believed that for a second, but the concept alone was still enough to send a chill down my spine. I think this is an absolutely terrible tragedy, I really do. I've made no secret of how much this horrible loss of life has affected me personally over the past couple of days, it has rocked me to my absolute core. But, like many others here, I've grown up with the park since the 80s, and never want to see Dreamworld close, especially in such a manner as this. It has to stay open ❤️
