  1. Penguin is back! Along with many other classic Batman Villians and Superheroes 😁 Everyone is really getting into the atmosphere, people dressed up everywhere ☺️ There's stacks of new daily shows and photo appearances too 👍 Oh, and they are playing music and theme songs from all the relevant shows and movies down main street too, instead of the usual pop music 👍
  2. To be honest the only real factor I can recall of riding Eureka as a kid was the sore neck it left me with post ride, as it had some very sharp and sudden turns. That said, I'm still excited over the concept of it coming back, but I think that's mainly due to nostalgia since I wasn't really a huge fan of the ride itself. At least not that I remember lol. I think the upkeep (or lack thereof) of the Thunderbolt was a prime example of this. I recall reading many rumours (no idea if they were true or not, but the speculation was there) claiming that Dreamworld's lack of effort to maintain it was a major factor to its closure. The condition of the track was definitely a bit of an eyesore in its final years of operation, it's really no surprise that they failed to find a buyer for it before it was scrapped. But yeah, despite their past history and reputation, who knows... they have since had a major wake-up call toward ride maintenance and care as a whole, so they may very well turn over a new leaf now with the overall upkeep of a major steel or wooden coaster?
  3. Oh bugger. A victory for the neighbourhood locals of the park, but not one for poor Movie World I hope they manage to turn things around in their appeal. Personally I can't see what the big deal is, assuming that it's due to concerns over noise issues. Speaking as someone who has previously lived in a unit off a very busy (and fairly noisy) main surburban street for many years, the road noise there became background noise to me after a while, didn't even notice it anymore. These peeps already live practically next to a major motorway, so you'd think it would be the same situation. Most of the cars using the proposed carpark would remain stationary for most of the day, anyway? I mean its just a carpark, not an application for a new M1 exit into their neighbourhood. Really don't get it
  4. Was about to post the exact same thing! Yes, it does! #impossiblesituation Seems somebody went digging a little too far through the archives when they made that commercial (and apparently that same someone didn't visit the park often enough to have realised that one actually replaced the other)
  5. Oh, and for those who don't like reading small writing, here's a close up on the shipping container and what it's offering - a new upcharge option for kids to get a complete Hero or Villain makeover for $59 😮 From the fine print underneath, it does appear to have an age limit on it though (2-13 I think? My phone won't zoom in enough haha) 😛
  6. Cheers @xRazzBerryx 😁 One thing that made me happy today was to finally see the purpose of that randomly placed support base that was sitting out in the garden bed in the carpark! And what a very important job it has 😁 Then: Now:
  7. Lots of new stuff popping up on Main street for this event starting over the weekend 😁 Sorry the one below turned out a bit blurry! Didn't realise till I'd left (d'oh) Sneaky sneak peek through the divider gaps lol...
  8. Well here's another update on your update, @Skeeta 😁😛 As of 1.30pm this arvo.... Locking another support into place 😁 Might pop down tomorrow morning to see what progress has been made with our loopy loop, given they are working hard on it atm 😁
  9. Lassiters was my fave ride as a kid. Will never forget that memory of the Donkey hanging from the roof in a bucket 😁 ETA: loved that flying fox in the kids area of WNW back in the day as well ☺️
  10. They're way past the testing stage, @Gold Coast Amusement Force. Did you read the last few posts? It's been taking on passengers for a while now 😛 In fact both sides were operating last week when we visited 👍
  11. From what I've heard previously, this was a independent decision Dreamworld made as part of their efforts to increase their ride safety measures as a whole across the park. So not really related to any Zamperla requirements being changed, thus most other existing Disk-Os at other parks will remain the same.
  12. It most certainly does 😁 Hubby & I both witnessed it whilst jumping into the car one (quiet) afternoon... at the end of a typical cycle the car is usually caught and then reversed back down to the station for unloading, but that one particular time we were watching, it caught the car, then immediately sent it up and around for a second lap 😮 Actually pulled my phone out and filmed the next couple of cycles in hope it would happen again, alas it was a one off lol. But definitely possible to keep the ride going for longer if they want to 👍
  13. At least the park benches are removable... they can very easily put them out for busy periods and then take them out for the remainder of the time, in which they can set anything up in those spots, really! It will free up some space for more special event stuff as well ☺️ That was my initial thought, but then again what's stopping the same kind of people from attempting to stand up on the benches as well during the parade? Will they then expect the park to have 'do not stand on tables' signs around the area as a reminder not to do that as well? 🤔
  14. Last year Movie World were receiving a lot of complaints via their official FB page about the lack of seating around the park during busy periods, people having to resort to sitting on the curb etc to eat their lunch. It was a particularly big issue over the Xmas holiday period. Clearly this is management's response to that feedback, as extra park benches and seating have visably popped up all over the place, and just in time for the June school holidays 😁
  15. More building structure going up at the Topgolf site 👍
  16. Yeah... Not all that much really happening behind that divider atm lol 😜
  17. At the park right now. Here ya go guys. Bit more progress on the loop. And more parts have arrived on site 👍
  18. Last pic I took of it was this one on May 27th. When we visited the park last week, it looked no different. Still completely gutted and pulled apart.
  19. I'm confused over the use of the word "look" as an apparent description of a first hand ride experience. Very interesting 😑🤔
  20. Remember they were advertising that group Xmas party event last year at a similar price? Where it was like $100pp and you had to book a table of 10 (or something along the lines of) and included a drinks package, entertainment and what not. That whole event was scrapped after the incident, so it sounds to me like this may be a second attempt at reintroducing the same concept? ETA: Found it:
  21. Just dug up this old photo from earlier in the year. Yep, I see bricks and flowers 😂 So looks like you're right, @Slick... let's face it, even if they did add "keep off" signs, people with little common sense will still look for reasons to blame the park if they injure themselves on them 😑
  22. @Slick did that side still have garden beds? I thought they had already been removed. I recall park benches/tables and a bar being there after they put all the fake grass down, but yeah, clearly my memory deceives me with the garden beds 😂
  23. Hahaha, I was actually just about to post the link to that article of yours here Ben, specifically for the "Nostalgia" part as it's EXACTLY what I was trying to get at with my previous posts. You're just heaps better at wording it than I am 😂 But yes, I agree with your article 101%. Nostalgia is a huge factor for Dreamworld, and people are always asking for old attractions and shows to be brought back to the park. And that's what I believe (and hope) they are intending to do with their latest plans, given they are actually bringing back so many of their old family attractions. It would be a major win for them if they did, especially given so many of them were Disneyland inspired.
  24. Now something is happening on the other side as well 😂
