the suggestion put forward was to have all the parks on the one calendar, so one could see the best time to visit to capitalise on that across all 4 majors. having each company do their own for their franchises still doesn't solve the problem raised in the beginning.

Now hold on there - i wouldn't go that far. The article makes a point - that the ad features BOTH real experiences and 'imaginary' ones, blurring the line between what you can do and what isn't possible - without making the distinction between them. This is actually one point I CAN agree with - that the distinction should be made clear - be that in fine print or with 'dream sequence' style editing. In a Lynx ad - its clear that the entire ad is fanciful. There is nothing real about any of the models used in the ads actually using the product - let alone the results they portray after using it.

i said my part in the other thread. I can see where this article is coming from, but i don't specifically agree with all the points made. I will concede they probably could have used a small print disclaimer across the bottom of the add disclaiming that some experiences portrayed were only imaginative and not available in park - but i think the ad achieves what it set out to do, and won't generate much negative response from people wanting to take a canoe ride with a crocodile.

Well... they do croc feeding and you can see it up close - so that much works - for the rest - it's pure imagination.

I love the juxtaposition of the Buzzsaw photo used for the Herald Sun one - implies that they were stuck upside down. Disappointed that Nine News was on the scaremongering wagon after the nice piece they did for green lantern.

I'll admit back in 2004 when I was planning a GC trip, I did sit down with the maintenance schedules and map out when i was likely to have the most rides open, and i found it very useful - but as I said earlier - maintaining that would be a bitch - i did mine up for a 'point in time' and it suited me just fine - but adding rolling updates to the schedule is painful.

I disagree - and i mean no offense Brad but i'm taking those comments the same way I took those who felt the start of the new pure imagination ad should have been avoided. They can't tip toe around anything that remotely resembles the TRRR incident. If we're going to be that pussy-footed around water - why don't we just close WWW right now? #emptythetanks The park has recovered, and is moving forward. if they were seen to shy away from anything that remotely resembled TRRR - they'd be criticised for that too. Now - nobody is suggesting they build another rapids ride, and that indeed would be in poor taste - but the specific billboard you've focussed on - gives me no feelings of danger - the people are safe in a boat, and the croc is showing no interest in them whatsoever. If the image was of the croc stalking after the people in the boat - sure - but there is nothing wrong with that billboard. (also - i'm pretty sure they do have tiger island billboards also - but you can only fit so many out front).

not to mention - a lot of locals would likely be signing up to be GOLDOC volunteers - leaving very little time for them to visit a park either. i do agree though - regional exposure to the world is what is necessary - and nothing like a shiny new thrill ride dominating the highway for the international media to do a filler piece when their athletes aren't competing. Sydney saw an increase overall in tourism prior to and after the games - because thats the other contributing factor - airlines shuttling thousands upon thousands of games-related passengers don't want to return the flight with an empty plane - so they'll offer cheap flights on the opposite leg of each trip to fill the flight - which will bring tourists in.

a great idea - but sadly maintenance dates can often change or blowout - i'd hate to be the one responsible for maintaining it.

^lol. yeah but it took two attempts to get it right. i'd rather VRTP take their time and get it right the first time... Plus yours is cosmetic, with no safety changes (except a warning not to get too close). If Scooby were that easy, they'd have been able to do it with a spray gun. But you're right - for those few occasions where a family decides to go - perhaps that once a year thing is all they can afford - being able to take the grandparents \ kids along (who wouldn't ordinarily go without that worker) too makes for a great day out.

Shut up Smurf. See the thing is - whilst I only have a pass for one, I can choose, independently of spouse, partner, mistress or friend to go to a park whenever I choose. I could literally get in my car right now if I desired, and be at MW in a shave over half an hour. This of course does mean I have rego and insurance to pay - but it gives me independence - and if that makes me a peasant - then i'd rather be a peasant than a smurf.

Additionally to this, but i think if they add stuff into the ride, they'd have to test the envelope to ensure people can't hit it \ touch it etc - so if they did it piecemeal every night, they'd have to test the envelope every day before they could open it... I don't think so.

since it gives you free admission, and since it gives 3 other people really REALLY cheap admission, i'd say they'd be pretty set on 'you need to prove you are eligible' I'm on Parkz, and I don't have a Dreamworld pass... what are you trying to say? Not everyone can afford a pass, or both passes every year - some rotate from one to the other to change it up...

I think we'll see the shelters established pretty soon. As for power, it probably wouldn't be too hard to run a temporary line out to the dongas from the nearest source - I doubt generators would be used - but it does depend on the placement - are they against the entrance driveway or closer to GL? A few riser posts to take the supply line over the driveway is all they'd need.

I can't find anything for the GC parks, and I haven't heard anything through our chain of command. Rest assured if I do, i'll share it around.

I'm very impressed with that last photo. Looks like a very modern looking facility. Can't wait to see it open!

I liked how: they didn't answer the actual question they played obnoxious music really loudly so that you could barely hear the guys speaking (edit: i've now listened to it on mobile and on desktop, and it sounds fine on desktop, but mobile you can't hear a word clearly over the music) they subtitled what was being said (probably because of the shitty loud music) but didn't leave practically any of it on screen long enough to actually read it all they used technical terms that general punters won't understand - like torque lines and moveable trim brake fins they can't even master basic punctuation, such as an apostrophe at the appropriate time (start's at 5:30am) they used the exact same ride that appeared in the channel 9 segment - (which makes you wonder what's wrong with their other rides) You can apparently be satisfied with many things on a mechanical device by simply grabbing, pulling, or rubbing your hands over the ride part - (checking bolts are secured by gripping them with your hand for example) I give them an A for effort - Dreamworld would do well to push something like this out - but they get an F for execution. Much of my issue with this video would fade had they not pretended to answer a question asked on social media - if they'd just introduced it as a 'your safety, our priority' video, without the schmarmy SM post from 'Rob' many of the other things wouldn't matter so much to me.

I really grow tired of reading these stories the world over where they say "...will build a disneyland style park..." - i mean let's be honest - few of these parks get off the ground, and those that do are nowhere near the mark of 'disneyland style' except that they both have rides and charge admission. I wish they'd just be more realistic... As I sit back and re-read this, I realise that there isn't really another park you could point to that is universally known around the world - i mean you could say a 'six flags park' but many outside the US (and the enthusiast community) would even known what that meant... likewise I don't think 'Universal Style Park' paints an image that people the world over would recognise... so I suppose 'Disneyland' is really the only truly "universal" park (pun intended) :sigh: Also, you spelled 'Britain' wrong.
