  1. I'd love to see that 'portal' idea so you don't see the area from outside, but I don't think it's plausible as it would be a massive choke point - not to mention showstage being within the area it needs to be able to cope with large crowds for that as well (when and or if it is used besides FN). I'd love it to be enclosed but i think its smarter - even just from a safety perspective - that they leave it open. The wristband thing is the best point about it and clearly they'll need somewhere to issue those - I do hope it's not 'just another shop' full of the same stuff, and there is actually a point of difference, or conversely, perhaps with a dedicated outlet, there is less of a need for DC stuff to proliferate throughout the generic outlets.
  2. its a very tall structure if just a shop - must be something pretty elaborate going on top?
  3. Actually, nearmap images of those houses prior to the storm (only a MONTH prior) show there was a good 15 metres between the beach and the pool. In almost any approval process - 15 metres would be sufficient. Who would imagine the ocean would wash away FIFTEEN METRES of soil, grass and trees?
  4. Does anybody have suggestions over what the new slab will be? My first thought was queuehouse, but it seems a bit far away from the ride, and the structure looks like it's going to house something...
  5. Although it's a stark contrast, one does have to remember the different levels of adjustments that cameras do to photos to try and improve them these days. A lot of 'automatic' cameras will do this without you even knowing. This is very crudely done, and i'm not claiming its a realistic representation, but its an example of how the same photo can look VERY different.
  6. Now that you mention it, i do recall. It would be awesome if it could be partnered with some coloured lighting \ heat lamps to really give the impression of fire etc.
  7. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to achieve a similar 'explosive shockwave' such as they have on a few Disney rides too - Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars at Hong Kong comes to mind - it has a launch where a cave \ explosives are about to blow up, and a burst of high pressure air from behind gives the impression that you're actually being "blown" out of the cave. That wouldn't be difficult to achieve, surely?
  8. Yes, I don't think we need another ride themed to the joker.
  9. Although the park has been moving further into DC territory and it seems to be the 'in joke' right now, I don't see why anybody could suggest WWF would get a retheme in that vein. Short of demolishing the entire ride, I don't see it happening.
  10. VR isn't new. It's been around since the 90s. the only difference is the graphics are better, and the devices smaller.
  11. You would be wrong. I have no intention of getting VR.
  12. Particularly for members who haven't logged on in a while, and re-ask questions that were answered 10 pages previously. It's not a complaint about those members, but topic specific stuff can get lost in the vastness that is the megathreads.
  13. I'm fairly certain we will see theming on the back of the new framework - they won't be raising the old wall though I don't think...
  14. during manufacturing? Well they obviously didn't spend enough on them then...
  15. Seems a shame that they wired the two together. Surely an independent switch on the front logo lighting could have been put in without much bother...
  16. ^Just on the Wheely Adventures clip - I believe the girls weren't travelling with parents, so they were 16+ and made their own decisions. They met local friends at the park for the day. I wouldn't say Rainbows end is breaching any policies, they've simply assessed the risk differently. Risk: Skin Cancer from sun exposure Control Measure: Wear long sleeves, pants and a hat, use sunscreen. Control Measure: Never go outside during the day. Both are appropriate control measures, however one is being a lot more pragmatic. Neither are inappropriate, but obviously one more restrictive. In the event something were to happen, one could look at the control measure and determine it was adequate, but as the log ride event shows - if in doubt, its better for them to be safe than sorry - and a more restrictive control might piss people off, but by eliminating, rather than managing the risk, it is far safer.
  17. Brad, he said "is - this - not" not "this - is - not". Its a question, not a statement of fact - he was saying it was a public forum by asking a rhetorical question. But aside - I agree with you that a person saying 'it's definitely this' should be justified. I have no problem if someone doesn't verify it with actual names or proof, and I don't think people should have to PM a mod as this in itself can breach a confidence with the source.... time will show whether they were correct or not... for example with some of the statements MickeyD has been known to make in the past... but it should be said "I have a friend who works in <park> who told me its definitely <blah>' rather than just 'it's definitely <blah> without any background as to how someone comes to that conclusion... However the fact that @dmh has used words like 'views' 'thoughts' or 'opinions' suggests to me that's all it was, rather than any factual statement.
  18. Well the Buderim Ginger Factory has an indoor flume ala Small World. I guess it depends on what you class as a 'dark ride' as opposed to say - a rollercoaster or whatever. If we go with a broad meaning - Aussie World has the Rock n Roll Rebel, Scooby would class as a dark ride too. As you rightly point out - Justice League is up there. Even with broad meaning I would naturally exclude walk through attractions like LPS has, or even ZE at Dreamworld.. but then you have rides with inside\outside elements, which would expand to include Superman and Storm coaster. Of course as I said it depends on how you class it, but even with narrow definition, we've still got more than one so plural is definitely acceptable.
  19. @razza1987 - i love that you're catching up on threads, but please for the love of god edit the quote so only the bit you need is left! a DA is a Development Application... or Dumbledore's Army... depending on the context.
  20. I read something somewhere about a WB park being built in Abu Dhabi or something - near ferrari world. They're spruiking superman and batman attractions - but not sure if that would equate to characters in-park. If you read the article I posted, it refers to the Marvel license for the east coast of the US being owned by Universal 'in perpetuity' - it means Disney can NEVER have Marvel characters in their east coast theme parks... ever. (Unless of course they buy them out, which I'm sure given the current attractions in IOA, Universal would charge a pretty penny for).
