  1. It's a shame they've had the green grass for so long and then gone with these wraps for the last month of construction. They would have cost a bit to produce, and because it is specific to DD - its unlikely they'll ever be used again...
  2. From memory - the Skylab seats 4 per gondola, yes? So the coaster wheel would be an upgrade per gondola with 6 - but unless lines are long, I can't see them combining groups that much. its a bit 50/50. i see your point for the upgrade, but I don't really see anything wrong with what they've got right now, other than the fact that the wind kicks up pretty bad and late afternoon riding tends to be pretty damn cold.
  3. ^I think someone mentioned that DC wouldn't allow anything 'not DC' within the confines of the villain space - so we're unlikely to see showstage used for something like that. I was actually wondering - since the tanker truck appears to have 'entered' showstage using the stage door - i'm wondering if that means showstage will never see a load-in ability like it used to? Could we perhaps see a new entrance to showstage pushed through from the other side near WWF?
  4. Much as I enjoyed the mobile gondolas in DCA - I wouldn't like to see LPS take a capacity hit like that - downgrading from 24 gondolas to only 16, half of which being mobile would put some groups off riding. Stationary gondolas in DCA had a queue about 3 times as long.
  5. @Mark Shaw - it seems the public backlash is out there. I realise you guys are doing so much - and the general public are obviously just blind - but did anyone consider whether a replacement could be sourced relatively cheaply - a la Tango Train at Luna Park being replaced old for new? If you're planning Mi3 3+ years in advance, its probably difficult to squeeze an unexpected replacement when something reaches end-of-life - but is it on the cards?
  6. Having done countless interviews as a prospective employer in customer service and retail environments, I support Brad's position on Jeans. It just doesn't look professional enough. Take a look at the vast majority of retail and customer service workers, and they're typically wearing black dress pants. These aren't expensive - as a matter of fact you can get a paid of black dress pants cheaper at lowes than you can buy kirkland denim jeans at Costco ($12.99 vs. $29.97), but they look FAR MORE PROFESSIONAL. A nice plain coloured Polo would be ok in my eyes for a position such as this, but as you move up in the food chain (think guest services) you'd be looking for a full button down shirt or blouse. And for goodness' sake - MAKE SURE THEY ARE IRONED!!! Something I look at when I do interviews though, is shoes. First of all - let me be clear - LEATHER. DRESS. SHOES. (Usually black). If you're contemplating wearing joggers, street shoes, or anything else along those lines - leave now. I was going to suggest school shoes as an example but realised most people wore joggers to school in later years. and girls - NO BALLET FLATS. It's easy enough to drop your pants (shut up @reanimated35!!!) or shirt at the dry cleaners and pay $15 to have them cleaned and pressed ready for your interview, but everyone always wears the same old black leather shoes they wore to school \ their fast food job etc. Filthy, scuffed, unpolished shoes will be a quicker 'no' from me than Jeans - regardless of the rest of the presentation. And @AllegroCrab - (to answer the last part of your post) this is why - When it comes to retail, and customer service, the first impression is usually the ONLY opportunity to capture, or lose the customer. A person who shows up in dirty, scuffed or unpolished shoes shows that they didn't put any real effort into impressing me. Same with Jeans, or a t-shirt. And if that person doesn't think I'm worth putting in the extra effort to polish their shoes, and iron a pair of $13 dress pants - how much effort are they going to put into presenting well to my customers? to serving my customers? to representing my brand? If there are 50 positions, and they're pressed for time, they may lower their standards to get people in the door because they need them, but if there are 10 positions, and they've got 100+ candidates, and they've got a few weeks to get you onboard - rest assured they will be looking for the quick wins on who to eliminate.
  7. Standard chain link fence (powdercoat black). not big enough for a driving range once you put the bottom end in the ground - bent top edge for application of barbed wire. I'd say rather than relying on temporary fencing to keep people out, this will be the new permanent park boundary fence to demarcate the ride envelope for the new coaster \ and\or the boundary fence for topgolf.
  8. The other major entry point to the US is usually Dallas - there are some noteworthy parks in Tx, but I believe most are a bit of a hike from Ft Worth.
  9. The Mickey's fun wheel is a darn sight larger than the LPS wheel though, isn't it?
  10. I don't know how enjoyable a flat roller coaster would be - it wouldn't roll, nor coast very well
  11. Clearly hoses run through the ring, so it stands to reason tanks aren't going to be INSIDE the ring - surely they'd be able to run lines further afield to a location much easier to swap out tanks though?
  12. As for your picture puzzle Skeet - that bracket on the arm is pretty well in line with the ring. the artist's impression doesn't seem to show anything there, but i'm assuming something that will fit in with the Ring theme...?
  13. Shockwave has a loose items box at the start of the ride, which is your first indication that phones \ cameras etc wouldn't be permitted... but i think a go pro chesty wouldn't be an issue, and clearly based on @reanimated35's quote, as it isn't in the Big9, i don't think it would be a problem - but TBH if they allowed you to take your phone on board, it isn't really going to cause an injury to anyone if you dropped it, and its unlikely to get into machinery, so i'd like to think it'd be more a case of 'at your own risk'... although in some cases it would depend on the operator.
  14. Thats the general gist of it - any ride you can take your bag \ phone with you is generally ok to record with any device. Of course you're risking losing it into the water etc. if it isn't secured properly.
  15. I doubt the tanks would be in the structure - far easier to refill \ replace Co2 in a ground mount, run lines to where the outlets are.
  16. Off topic Skeet - but i'm interested - why the name change?
  17. Lol. I don't believe so, but my source is also a member here who was at the park yesterday. I'm not sure whether they got pics, but i'm not stealing their thunder, just retracting my previous certainty to a somewhat more open minded view.
  18. Picture 2 shows tubes \ hoses \ cables coming out of the end. I'd assume this would be something to do with it. The artists image you posted just above shows it coming out of each of those 'vent' type markers, but it doesn't appear to be the case. If the devices aren't bulky, we may see them installed once the ring is in place, especially if they are sensitive, to minimise damage during the install.
  19. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but apparently there were some people within the confines of this fencing yesterday, and i'm now not so sold that its just grass growing. have to wait and see.
  20. We've seen that one before @GoGoBoy - i'd say their teaser was just using the generic manufacturer's rendering rather than any artist's rendition with added theming - you wouldn't want to let the cat out of the bag this early - i'm confident we'll see more than what you see in that image...
  21. I'm still with Magician - looks like the grass has been worn out a bit and they're trying to grow it back. these fences (known in events as 'bike rack fencing') aren't sufficient to keep people out of a 'restricted area' - they're just there as a barrier to encourage the area be avoided. If something were inside of it you didn't want people to get to if they wanted to, you'd either need the fence manned by security, or you'd need a higher fence. i'm sold its to let the grass grow.
