  1. In context, i'm inclined to agree with @reanimated35 on this one. "A while ago" can vary as you say from not within the last few minutes to several years. but in context it makes clear the appropriate timeframe - consider this: Hey, Is Jim around here? Oh, he was here a while ago, but he left This implies maybe half an hour, to a couple of hours ago. You wouldn't be talking about Jim being here 5 months ago. When did that movie come out? Oh, it came out a while ago Since movies are released once a week, the length of time a 'while' constitutes would be much longer. If it was this week you wouldn't say a while, nor would you say a while for something that was last week, the week before or pretty well anytime that month. For movies, i'd use "Recent" to talk about something that had been out in say the last 2-3 months, and 'a while' for anything longer than that - and i'm sure general usage would mostly agree. Some popular films can spent that long screening in a cinema, while others hit DVD not long after. If you take Krampus for example - it came out in December 2015 in most regions. It's already available on DVD. I wouldn't class this as recent - but again that all depends on context - it came out recently if you're considering the film industry since inception, but in today's modern world of 'everything and everyone, instantly' it changes.
  2. i'm thinking primarily more gore in the streets. the mazes do well, but the scare zones are usually just made up \ costumed characters walking intimidatingly. I'd like to see them have prosthetics - missing limb, blood spraying out (non-staining and washable of course). Hell - hire some amputees and do some really funky creative stuff with them.
  3. ^that's because MDMC above all others is the worst for rider fit. with our capacity and speed of loading (both of which are almost non-existent) - a tester seat really isn't needed as there is usually a station full of them to try out... far less in public than one out at the entrance.
  4. See I don't think so - you've got the western toilets right next door to DD - they've always been quite reasonable to access - even from showstage. I'm thinking perhaps we'll see something outside the current park boundary - most likely near the new coaster site, which we're all presuming is next to JL\AA in the current fenced area.
  5. i think they will handle it the way parks manage to handle this things the world over. Consider Wonderland - which had the retail plaza before you entered the park gates - the wildlife park however was accessed by a side door in the plaza. You simply presented your ticket at the gate and the staff would let you through. But what if i lose my ticket? i'm sure they could utilise a pass-out stamp to allow people into the shop, and allow them to exit back into the park on presentation of their arm. i can't really see them doing it any other way - but rest assured there will be some sort of gate between the park and the shop to prevent general public coming in. Or the cynic in me says that nobody is going to go to dreamworld just to look at a lego shop, and all the guests they have in the shop will be park guests anyway, so controlling entry through there will be unnecessary as nobody will use it, except from inside the park. we will see.
  6. I don't believe it's ever been an age restricted event. It's been 'strongly recommended' or carried some parental advisories, but i've seen parents walking kids and strollers through fright nights, some of whom then came out complaining that it was too scary for their kids... well duh!
  7. See the thing is - pirate ship style rides (i consider doomsday to be a pirate ship style) do a vertical loop - i don't know whether there's any reason for it but i handle a vertical loop a lot better than sideways swinging or spinning. I could ride the old Bounty's Revenge all day long without ill effect, but a gravitron, or a zipper - putting it horizontal, or utilising more than one axis is what screws me up. Tail spin without using the wings is great fun, throw in a well timed wing change to get the roll happening and it really hits me hard. Vertical loops are just a much quicker and steeper version of going up a hill at highway speeds. The same as loops in a roller coaster. I would not put DD into the same class as Shockwave, Claw, the old Vortex, even reef diver. This doesn't mean it's 'less intense' - it just means that your inner ear handles it differently... i'm sure it will still be an intense and thoroughly entertaining ride - i just see it was one less likely to lose ones lunch on (although that said, bounty's had its fair share of protein spill.)
  8. ^Agree with you Rappa - the one thing i'm puzzling over is how they would arrange queuing for 3 different cycles, if that were only to be for a while? We've seen how it can be done with two (pandamonium), which as I understand it works relatively well, but for 3? and only if it were temporary? You wouldn't want to build 3 queue lanes if you weren't planning on keeping them. However they run it I do hope they utilise the options available to some extent. Pandamonium is good in that it offers high thrill for people who want it, but it still offers something for the 'less brave' to give it a go, catering to most guests in that way.
  9. You paid $299 to do the star tour, which included fast lane passes etc all afternoon, and you still left the park early to go to dreamworld? for shame.
  10. Given the facades are on top of the existing buildings, those buildings probably could not accommodate them.
  11. I think a trip report or review, if the experience was negative, was fine, so long as you make efforts to recognise what positives there were as well - but if a trip to the Ekka for example was overall a bucket of shit (Went yesterday, left after 90 minutes having done everything I was interested in), then it's hard to be positive. I think the difference is that the podcast (I haven't listened to it and am only going second hand on what others say they present) is doing what i'm doing now - Judging something without having actually taken part in it for themselves. Except in this case - there were plenty of reviews out there both on Parkz, Facebook and private sites like OurWorlds that people who do a podcast within this industry should have been aware of it. Now, what little credibility they might have had - they've lost - because we know that their judgment is based on pathetic assumptions without having experienced it for themselves or listened to others that have. MW has really gone to the next level with this tour by all accounts - it is unfortunate that they (and our other parks) have for a long time tried to do things on the cheap, so now that is what is expected of them.
  12. Although there are many things you couldn't price up - not being available otherwise - there are comparable things to look at too - things like bridgeclimb (Storey or Sydney) are obviously a much higher and more elaborate sort of thing to this - taking you to the top of a structure that you would otherwise never be allowed to go, so even if you think of it as half the price of a bridgeclimb, you can still give that a tangible value which takes the total well over the ticket price, without even looking at any of the other experiences. VIP parking overseas at places like Universal and Six Flags are between $10 and $50 for the day - so split the difference, call it $25 and you're up in value again. The kitchen tour can't be priced, but the cost of the items can be - and you can safely add about $10 worth of bakery items consumed to the price as well. Theres a few other things you could attach a tangible price to - for example drink costs - chances are with jugs delivered, you would probably have more than just one drink while dining... stuff like that. On another note, the more I think about this tour the more I can't wait until I can do it - but it got me thinking about some of the other things the park has around that might be interesting. We know, for example, that the park stores the parade floats either out the back behind intencity, or in some cases inside the old LTRR building. We also know that the park has several worksheds where they create \ maintain theming - some of them are on studio property while others are behind LTRR. It would be cool if they added (or used as substitute when certain other parts of the tour were unavailable) an opportunity to perhaps stand on a float for photos (as this isn't usually available) or see some of the 'behind the scenes' work that goes into creating theming objects such as they use for white christmas (the 'snow' blocks placed around main street buildings for example). I don't know whether its entirely practical, but just an idea, and its the sort of thing I think would be a cool addition to what is already a fabulous (and definitely well worth it) tour.
  13. LOL. For those outside the circle - @reanimated35 usually hyper-analyses @Slick's articles on OurWorlds for spelling grammar and punctuation, so it had to be done! On topic - given that the tour was designed with Superman Escape in mind, and given the maintenance schedule has it out until almost the end of the current tour schedule, am i the only one thinking it'll be extended?
  14. You're right @downunder - i've just started paging through RCDB and there doesn't seem to be many overtly named.... now i'm going to see if I can find any that may be more play on words. Of note so far - 6 Man Bob. For obvious reasons though, i'm sure 6 Woman Bob would prove extremely popular. Bob also seems to be a very popular name for a coaster - although I can't imagine why... Angry Birds - although the theme is obvious, the okker translation is hilarious. Big Fury - (well?) Black Widow (x2) Black Witch (that's racist) Blazing Fury (*see above) Bone Shaker Boss (my wife wouldn't argue with this one) Bronco Buster ... the fun continues - i've done up to page 30 of 328 pages on RCDB - thats A and B covered. Anyone else want to take on the next block of 30? seriously - another 10 people and we can cover the entire database! start here: http://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&nm=na&page=30
  15. A good representation there @Wyncenuros - I guess then that people who require the ramp should aim to park closer to the bus stop than they do now parking closer to WWW. TBH it'd be nice if that were permanent - ie: DW customers parking closer to Buzz so that WWW customers aren't competing for parking closer to the WWW gate. Of course the only inconvenience then is if you plan on park hopping throughout the day and want to leave by a different gate than you entered, but that isn't really a big deal in the middle of winter.
  16. Given one suggestion is theming for current construction, and the other is hints to possible future attraction(s), and the fact that @reanimated35 has just been on the Star Tour, I find its more likely they were told about an attraction being built, than several that would clearly not have been signed off yet... therefore.... Brad is right.
