  1. the mummy tunnel used to just be an avalanche tunnel with no specific movie tie-in.
  2. Thanks @Levithian - gave me a few ideas too - mine are a little different to yours, and i've only factored in park expansion so haven't allowed for hotel, new carpark or carpark rerouting. Ok - so you'll see i've moved the maintenance buildings out to the middle of the carpark. The black area is the overall park boundary, and then on top of that i've overlaid: Disneyland Main Street. (obviously not to scale) but I envisage a promenade leading to the fountain, with facades, or shops, perhaps even some attractions space permitting (and obviously no buildings or facades could take part of GL because of its proximity to the entrance way. This leads out to approximately the second row of parking, as you suggested. Yellow section is an expanded WB Kids area, with room for more kid friendly attractions, effectively doubling the size of that area. Red section - I have two ideas here - either the red section becomes a new 'show stage' building - providing a stage area for entertainment similar to what LT village had before RRRC was built. (Yes, there used to be a stage in LT Village) - except it would be enclosed, as the showstage currently is. This would then free up showstage for development and expansion, and place a multi purpose entertainment building within easy reach of a park boundary, should the venue be hired or used separately for night events. Alternative Red section - use this space for construction of another soundstage \ shed, thereby releasing the old LTRR building half that is currently used for storage to be utilised as the above entertainment venue, although without as many positives. Blue section - an expanded DC heroes area, where some of the 'lesser known' heroes and their sidekicks get smaller flat ride attractions in the shadow of Green Lantern Green Section - a new themed land - with easy access direct from main street as an alternative route to WB Kids, therefore providing more than one way around the park - adding to the 'occasional' shortcut opened up through the old Chinatown Alley. I have no suggestions for theme, but i'm sure VR has plenty to choose from. Potentially this area, being front of the park, could also have a separate entrance, and the ability to easily close it off from the rest of the park for a night-time entertainment precinct including restaurants etc - conveniently placed close to the prep kitchens behind Stars Cafe for easy access. The carpark entranceway would have to reroute - instead of coming down to the park boundary, it would turn right almost immediately after crossing under the 'road facing WB sign' above the driveway. A new main arterial road would run through the middle, with left lane traffic taking parking on the left side and right lane traffic turning right or continuing straigh on to the far end. I see the hotel potentially in front of the green section, or over on the grass, with carparking out onto the grassy area expanding as needed. Its rough, but its a nice idea. thanks for sharing @Levithian
  3. The thing is though, Although Movie World is meant to be this big themed movie park, the people want coasters. They proved that when Lethal Weapon was installed. Scooby was an easy gimme. They already had the soundstage built for another attraction, but to expect them to have a fully enclosed full circuit coaster is insane. Well out of MW's budget. So we either get coasters, and be happy with the minimal theming to station and queue, or we do away with coasters and build immersive rides that are fully enclosed. I know that would make some people happy but the GP would then view it as the subpar park to Dreamworld, simply because dreamworld would have more coasters.
  4. Whoa. Did you just compare Movie World to Disneyland? come on... Movie World has done a great job with DD, and a few others before it, but that doesn't justify that sort of comparison... Batwing? Green Lantern? Lethal Weapon \ Arkham (pre-VR), pretty much all of WB Kids, HWSD v2, v2.1, v2.2 all the way through to - wait what is it now? v2.97853? With Movie World's track record on theming, with the exclusion of Scooby Doo, I think we can expect a nice full circuit coaster, with a decent theme applied to the station and queue... which i'm taking to translate to your 'relatively unthemed' classification.
  5. I'm quite prepared to be underwhelmed, which then means any effort made will blow me away. Although DCVU and DD has shown us they have the capability to produce mind blowing results, i'm going to have low expectations to avoid disappointment.
  6. The GL stationhouse IS themed. it may not be elaborately or immersively themed, but it IS themed. A good quality top notch coaster stands on its own. it doesn't need something to be truly immersive - and TBH most coasters of the scale we're talking here generally don't provide an immersive theme, because that is usually obliterated the moment you leave the station.
  7. ^Oh I don't know - if the CONDUIT failed, you'd probably run a new trench and connect it up before and after the pile at convenient points, but if the cable itself failed, it wouldn't take much to pull it out, and snake a new one in. It still seems pretty silly to run it through the pile though.
  8. @YLFATEEKS can probably explain this better than I can - but for my thinking, the land and environment court wouldn't be restricted by the expiry - it is the council approval only that has that limitation.
  9. LOL. We're never going to see a monorail all the way between Oxenford and Sea World. the tram will be more than adequate. Seeing one on property though - linking WnW, PC, AOS, MW, TG, Hotel, Campground\Cabins would be desirable. And It would certainly serve to keep people on property - as Disney does - if they have a monorail to get all around the property, families flying in don't need to rent a car - which then ensures you keep them hanging around.
  10. No, he'd just insist that it wasn't themed well enough, and that it should be connected to the Jupiters and sea world tracks.
  11. JL does not exit from the same spot as BATR. Perhaps you could use the plethora of maps that has been uploaded recently from Nearmap (the Magician did a great Zip file a few days ago) that actually has all the updates, so you could work from that. Looking at the latest images, there is merit in the idea. The entrance was always going to have to come between GL and JL3D, so I think we all figured that driveway was going to be deleted, since the studio entrance does actually run in next to AOS... We haven't seen much in the way of works over in that area, and i'd almost overlooked it, but your post prompted me to look closer, and I found that there is now temporary fencing blocking that roadway. Chances are the stationhouse will be situated in that area, but I don't think we're seeing a showbuilding, and my thinking is more something like GL's station.
  12. Remember a lot of the WOW with Lego Store is the giant models built out of lego. And the wall of lego. Take a look at your average Toys R Us or even just the WB Department Store at MW - height makes it spacious. It could be a single storey, with high ceilings and nothing more.
  13. I decided to go take a look for myself. I think your scale is off. Attached is a nearmap image, with scale. Overlaid on this is topgolf Alexandria. You will see I have left the scale in from Topgolf. Unfortunately I don't have Nearmap access to the USA, so i've had to pull it off Google (but as you will see, the nearmap image is also using Google imagery), so i'm confident the scales are relatively on point. I haven't cut it out as fancy as you as i'm working with microsoft products on an office computer, but i'm confident the scales are as closely matched as I can get them, and you will see not only that your scale is off, but also that my scale has TG positioned well within the markers we've been discussing, including the building sitting nicely within the carpark width.
  14. pffft. Who cares about noo zulland? Didn't do Wet N Wild? Not even for the single credit? Or was Surfrider (as usual) closed?
  15. Are you referring to the green stairs? Pre-existing. Like the marketplace before it - the ramp will no doubt be accessible, especially as: this outlet is likely planned to be a primary exit from the park to drive guests through the store modern constructions have to comply with disability access requirements by law. The store entrance will likely be on the other side (closer to the entrance to the park), which will see it output onto the bitumen ramp rather than use stairs. As for there being a second storey of the store, it is possible, given other lego stores do have a second level (take Downtown Disney as an example) If there is a second level, stairs won't take up much space compared to the added floor space of an additional level, and a small disability access lift won't be much of an issue either. That said, I don't think the Dreamworld store will need one as its unlikely to see the traffic of a store such as Downtown Disney. I think we can start making comparisons to stores such as that though as the framework clearly indicates a similar style.
  16. So? I provided an image already that demonstrates how a 3 storey building of that size would fit within the confines of the current carpark... Hell if you curve it even further to represent that like the other sites, it would be narrower. Ignore Alexandria. Ignore Las Vegas. They're a good indication of design and layout but this doesn't have to be identical. it doesn't have to be as long or as wide or as high as the others. Its their first venture in Australia. They aren't going to build the biggest behemoth ever until they test the waters. I don't see them getting the patronage that foreign versions will get. At the MW property, It's an add-on. A convenient way to offer another experience on property, rather than a destination. I'm satisfied this will be - for want of a better term - 'top golf lite' while they work out how the Australian market will take to the concept - before they 'go big' by creating a destination site.
  17. I personally hope that they do NOT theme the hotel to anything outlandish. My thoughts (especially since we're supposed to be "Hollywood on the Gold Coast") would be the Art-Deco style theme you see at Hong Kong Disneyland's Hollywood Hotel. see if this link works to check it out! edit: I think though that we will probably see something very similar to the design of Sea World Resort - rooms are clean, functional, with a subdued and understated colour scheme, but nothing more than that and a picture of a relevant topic on the wall... and i'm totally ok with that if it keeps the cost down and is a convenient place to stay on the coast for visiting the parks.
  18. Thanks for the update TPG! Roof? Or structure? Roof previously was a blue and white alternating checker. Frame was always a deep blue. This is what the frame looked like back on 22 September - how does it look compared to what you saw today?
  19. We've been well impressed with every iteration of AOS so far, although as you've only seen one version, i've no doubt you will continue to regard it as the 'best' regardless of what replaces it, so I look forward to hearing all the things you see wrong with it when the new show opens. I have absolute faith in the team at AOS and i'm sure it (the new show) will be just as spectacularly enjoyable as all the ones before it.
  20. Don't forget too that many of the documents lodged with council were done prior to some deadline before some sort of regulation or policy change - we speculated at the time that VR ltd had submitted all their 'potential' plans prior to that cut off to ensure more favourable treatment should they take the option to proceed. Lodgment with council doesn't mean something will actually happen within any particular timeframe, although as i've mentioned earlier today, if they don't take the option (*usually within 2 years) then they need extensions, or need to resubmit.
