Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Main reason I said to go for 'making a movie' was the big screen, and all of the filming-related hardware. You don't need all of that if you're just showing the 'sequel'.... it'd be an incredible waste... thats my only thought on it. -
Pretty sure they've put a Marquee on the storage slab behind showstage \ next to WWF in the past, haven't they? The stuff stored on that slab COULD be condensed into a smaller space if necessary. A Marquee surrounded by temporary fencing that leads all the way back to 'regular park' through the WWF laneway. I don't think it's feasible leading them from Scooby\Arkham couryard - its too far away.
-
I did see that mentioned earlier - however the cinema isn't really that big (it is definitely smaller than the dodgem space), the queue rails have been removed, and the 'exit' to that space would now flow into the Arkham queue. It would work if you used the 'outdoor' queue for Arkham (feeding off the laneway to the studios) but then you restrict the queue length of the ride - but you would then be able to 'enter' the arkham queue, flow into the cinema, and exit out the old entrance... All a lot more work than it would be worth for the amount of space it would provide.

Assuming soundstage is off limits - Show Stage, Intencity, Scooby are your go to locations - realistically you only need to replace two mazes - and Intencity is one of them... but if they're going with these three, which are typically the smaller locations - i feel ike they should have more than 4 mazes - kicking it up a notch with 5 mazes to substitute for the lack of the big studio mazes... means in theory we need two more locations that won't impede daytime operations.... a Tent maze on the 'storage slab' out near WWF is one possibility... but we still need one more... A Chinatown Alleyway is a possibility - that space is only used for storage which they could make do without for a month... There is no option in WB Kids - it opens a lot more of the park to light up and cover (as does the storage slab near West), but you also don't want to be putting 'horror themed items' in the children's area. There really isn't anywhere else within the bounds of the park - unless they close the Roxy and use it... they could easily create a maze that works 'around' the seating in that space... Lastly would be out the gates next to JL3D - they could put another tent there, which - whilst technically on the studio space, wouldn't infringe on the actual soundstage space (the patch of grass across the driveway next to the lake). It isn't a huge space, but you'd fit a decent marquee in there. During the day, the gates would be closed - and only opened up after hours - when the usual studio access isn't open... those are my thoughts anyway...

nice pics... looking good... i'd say maze is definitely confirmed in there!

I think they're better suited to 'movie making' show than 'live in the theme' show. Water World is meant to be 'living inside the movie' - everything is done as 'reality'. HWSD's set is set up to be 'we're shooting a movie' - the big screen, the multiple cameras, the 'production' facility to compile it all together. I think they're better suited to keeping to a theme (like LMA) where the pretence of the show is 'we're shooting something for a movie - and you're here to watch how we do it" -

Ahhhh - I see! We all missed that extra bit too! Here's the full quote: -Construction due to start within 12 months (unless we don't say anything about it for 6 months in which case you can consider the topic dead and buried) -
I'm sure nobody thinks that POTC is going to be filming in September - and some mazes i've seen in the studios in the past have been little more than temporary fencing and fog machines... surely it wouldn't take too long for them to erect a maze of that calibre? ...and whilst they may not be using ALL the stages, they may be using the CLOSEST stages - the two we always see for Fright Nights. I can't imagine the park using the two furthest from the park just because they are the two available.... I also wonder whether the studios 'reserve' the stages needed for FN in advance, or whether they just pick them up 'if they are available', and if they do reserve them - whether they'd cancel a reservation because a big-name franchise comes to film? The dodgem scenario makes perfect sense if the studios are unavailable - but thats also a big hole in their capacity - the studios hold thousands of people in queue and in maze... if they aren't opening that laneway, there is going to be a much bigger crowd within the confines of the park... Opening up the Western Area (heading to WWF) may be necessary to thin out the crowds (they could put a stage and some lighting up at the western facade, and maybe a chill-out zone up the back... I realise it's being used for other things but i'd like to see them bring back the maze through Chinatown Alley - i've been to several FNs and that maze still sticks in my mind.

I just can't believe that Yoshi is STILL at LPS - it's been 2 days now!!! No sign of a new aisle, but there were guys with these big wheeled carts filled with boxes! What do you think is in them? Could it be the new shelving? Maybe it's just a restock of chips and chocolate.... thoughts? -

I think the easiest thing for them to pull off would be to introduce Mad Max to HWSD. It wouldn't take much to convert the sets into an apocalyptic wasteland, get some suitably themed vehicles, and shoot a 'scene' from the next Mad Max movie. Audience participation still pretty much the same - some nice green screen shots of people acting on camera - maybe just have a 'front-only' costume they can throw over the person's shoulders that would take 5 seconds to do. have some prop guns - a big 50cal or similar. It'd also give much more relevance to the giant fireball at the end... HWSD 3 - Fury Road? -
Sums it up - TPSN has no idea.
-
Well, they didn't need the side or under wheels that last time it operated...
-
Yeah - I'm with Pin - that one laser was very effective. Everything else is just 'disco' - but that drop laser actually added to the ride...

Hi Everyone. I'll be popping into Woolworths later on this evening... When I'm back i'll cook dinner. -
Coaster trains usually have a mix of Urethane and I think Nylon - they tend to look very different. I can't remember which is which (the Tatsu documentary explained it well) but basically one goes faster than the others, so they tend to use a mix of different materials on the trains to achieve the right speed \ force. I don't think Red Wheels are anything to go all crazy conspiracy theories though...

Wasn't the watermark big enough this time? -
Do you mean about the pass processing centre, or just in general? Don't you already have a photo of yourself as your avatar? Why does your face look like a mangled pizza?
-
Yeah - then you can't see \ hear the 'Rikes! Ronsters! Rent that way!' from the first Scooby animatronic. those who have no idea what we're talking about obviously haven't ever seen scooby running at 100%

Disney World annual passholders include "Unlimited admission for one year to all 4 Walt Disney World theme parks" - still doesn't include special events.
-
Despite the definition - a state premier is the highest in the state - but not the country... so there's that going for them... "Would you like to upgrade to our Campbell Newman pass? Or Would you prefer Tony Abbott?" "Neither, Thanks." "Good thing - looks like Campbell Newman and Tony Abbott have sold out..." "I'm totally not surprised" (Side note: they decided against renaming the pass "Palaszczuk" because too many people had no idea how to pronounce it, and the PR & Media team couldn't spell it to update the website.)

Standard ride breakdown makes headline news. Reports suggest Gold Coast Bulletin "Journalists" now working for UK Rag. In other news, Sky News UK keen to interview CEO over latest unsafe ride -
Well not really - if people are 'locked in' for 12 months - so is the park. They can't increase the price when they already have a contractual agreement with the customer for them to pay 'x'... once the contract is out, they could increase the price, but this would start getting messy - over time you'll end up with a whole bunch of people on a whole bunch of different pay scales for the same product... it's achievable, but i think they'd want to keep it as simple as possible. Every 30 June they'll have a price increase, and that'll be it. Why not? Disney Annual Pass holders generally don't get access to special events outside of normal operating hours... why should it be any different here?
