  1. Source? I had to look a few times at the Murrisippi - the first photo of the river just made it look like a golf course... it was hard to believe that was water. They need to put some agitators in - a few water fountains or something wouldn't cost much. Looking at the wipeout queue, it looks like the 'loose items house' has had a new door put in - is that right? The WWW shot (after the half-painted Claw) really highlights how faded all the slide pieces are... this new slide is really going to highlight how badly WWW colours have faded. Anyone have any ideas for the WWW slide... "triple the fun" and what it might mean (maybe an Alley?... is there room?) - sure it could have three elements... or it could just be that its a third 'little ripper'? (unlikely but the triple could mean just that)...
  2. Yep - Joz is right... the height comment was related to the star flyer suggestion...
  3. Precisely. A gravity fed coaster (take for example Cyclone or Sea Viper) has a sensor at the station exit, and another on the lift hill. The system is programmed to expect the train will reliably take a certain time to travel from one sensor to another. Where water is involved, many things (including riders rocking the boat) can impact on how long it takes the boat to travel from one spot to the next. If a boat is getting stuck up on the outdoor track, this doesn't mean that it is that outdoor portion of track causing the issue - it can just be boats stacking indoors, causing the occupied blocks to lock out the previous blocks and prevent further boats entering the splashdown until it is cleared. Just a theory on my part anyhow.
  4. looks like (in the foreground) that that is the fountain of stars...
  5. Precisely - Storm is barely six months old. If it's an inherent problem that keeps happening, Mack will be obliged to fix it, or redesign it and replace the faulty part with the redesign. If it were a custom design, with custom components that were dictated by sea world, then it would be their problem - but it's a stock coaster... they all have problems, but if it's a faulty product, it will be warrantied.
  6. Naturally if it is a reprofiling of course they will. I simply said 'i'd be happy if...' - in other words, I don't care for any gimmicks like high fives, or inversions... I just want a nice traditional woodie brought back to life.
  7. No. Just no. Colossus is a seat divider away from being an ACE coaster classic. Apart from that - high five requires the trains to come head to head - whereas colossus is a racer. I'll be happy if they bring back the camel humps and get rid of the block brake in that spot. I'd love to see the trains return to PTC style carriages as well.
  8. lolman, it's all speculation. If you want to go - go. If you hold off going to parks on days you think will have crowds - you'll never go. Go with 'medium' It is a long weekend, and it is one of the last weekends before many VIP passes expire. If the weather does eventuate, then it is possible the crowds may drop a little... but they may not.
  9. Wasn't there a problem with Aqua Drop? Wasn't that why they pulled it out? Also - the 'WnW JR is for kids who can't ride the adult versions... i doubt the AquaDrop would be suitable for that age group...
  10. i'm not sure, but my recollection is that it got the arse after the spat between WNWAW and the golf course mob. Doesn't mean it won't come back later....
  11. The wording is just vague enough that they may only announce a new ride, but not have it ready for next season. It's not time to change the name of the thread because they still haven't announced it, it's all still speculation.
  12. World's oldest what? Woodie? No. Wooden Racer? possibly. At 36, it comes in on RCDB's list of 'still operating woodies' halfway down page 3: http://rcdb.com/r.htm?order=10&ot=2&nm=na&st=93&ex=1&ty=2&page=3 I was quite disheartened to hear the news the other day from TPR. The comments did suggest a reworking, rather than demolition (although colossus does occupy valuable real estate that could easily fit 2 or more other coasters if they wanted to). I rode Colossus in 1996 and 2013, roughly 18 years apart. I must admit in 2013 she looked like she was struggling, and they were not running two trains across the structure at the same time. In whatever fashion they choose, I hope they keep the old girl around a bit longer. Step By Step, KnightRider, A-team, a KiSS movie.... she's one of the industry's biggest stars when it comes to film and TV.... and an absolute icon.
  13. I know it's over in the Mini Movie World thread - but perhaps the WnW Jr portion of the article could be posted here too for relevance? (edited to only include the WnW Jr info - full story given at link shown, along with pictures)
  14. i think my disappointment will be tempered if 'grown-ups' can accompany the kids (and hey let's face it - ride themselves at least once). It's not like any of the other rides where the kids can see their parents standing behind the fence. What good is the ride if the kid disappears into a dark room for 15 minutes and then comes out going 'awesome!' - Where are the home movies going to come from now?
  15. Nothing sad about the original disneyland autopia... except it's nothing like it (in my own opinion)
  16. Probably nothing - but don't both Tornados face the west? Would it lack the same 'solar' ability that many of the others do because most others have wide open or northern facing pools?
  17. hell if you're a QLD'er visiting Sydney for a week - $60 is a nice price to visit the park for a day, stop in for a night-session, drop by for an afternoon's dip... (If it weren't for other benefits, i'm sure its the kind of pass Gazza would love to make use of)
  18. Yes... in the same way Wonderland had 'beastie' (which many guests called 'little beast'), and bush beast - beastie was something smaller kids would ride and enjoy and be a 'graduating step' from kids rides to the big thrills. Now we'll have Tornado, and Tornado Lite...
  19. Such Creative. Wow. Thats a good selling point. (Looking at the photo in the article, it doesn't appear to be something parents can ride too) *For the first 6 months before we run out - at which point nobody will bother to order more and we'll just discontinue the practice. In other news, we're hiring more cleaners to deal with the several thousand discarded driver's licenses left on the ground. Carnivale* I know Movie World is ABSOLUTELY overdue for a good quality kids ride... and it looks as though they're going to be waiting a while longer. I'm quite underwhelmed by the concept, and looking at the cars, it doesn't look like adults will be able to ride. I'm concerned we've ripped out a 'fun for the whole family' ride to replace it with what is in effect a very expensive, high-real-estate-usage kiddie ride, that is intended to be EDUCATIONAL?>??????? I don't want to be too judgmental with only the concept at hand at the moment, but - like a year ago when we all first started talking about it - i'm disappointed. The WnW move confirms the excavators and other works seen at the park recently - and perhaps should have it's own thread? I always thought that this 'WnW Jr concept was something missing - especially when you see the wiggles area at WWW - this fills the gap nicely.
  20. ^that's actually a fantastic idea - people would VERY quickly forget about the early-late-closure, and immediately begin discussion and speculation over the new addition. That said - I don't think we're going to see another massive blockbuster for a while - next season i think we'll see some love to some existing attractions.
  21. but the NORMAL season WOULD have closed by now - it's only that they advertised 'open until June' earlier in the season because of an apparently 'bumper' season (because of Abyss) and now they've baulked at the possible losses of a bit of bad weather (which you have to eat when you're in the tourism industry) and make two bad calls - the first to close the park at a moment's notice because of the rain, and then to rescind their extended season because the rain continued... My calendar is lying to me this morning, and i'm pretty sure Perth has a public holiday today, so this long weekend should have been a fitting end to their season. As I said earlier - this is going to leave a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouth after what has been a fantastic season.
