  1. Hint of something to come for SeaWorld (Resort and waterpark)?
  2. Continuing your nerdy point of view - considering the movie (and the ride) are 10 years old, is the movie really relevant enough now to stay true to the theme (ala Wild Wild West) ? If the licensing details could be overcome - changing Scoob up could be a worthwhile exercise - it's still one of the most popular all-round attractions in the park, and is generally the first with a long wait, despite being a "continuous load" attraction - Giving 'the doo' a little makeover could be just what the doctor ordered - especially since the theatrical cobwebs and dust are now being overrun by real cobwebs and dust...
  3. I agree it would be nice for them to try something different Alan, but these 'themed events' have only really taken off here in Aus in the past 5 years or so (ignoring Wonderland's events which were never really outside of normal operations). The overseas parks have been doing hallowe'en christmas spring break etc etc etc for many years. What sort of event would you like to see them do, that hasn't already been done? (and I would caution you - there are many well travelled members on these boards that may be able to point you to a park that has already done it!)
  4. It's just you. Bluey's is a better lunch than anything inside the park.
  5. I am aware that they CAN be sacked with an hours notice, but the ability to give their staff MORE than an hour would be APPRECIATED which was my statement.
  6. ^a slightly higher capacity ride with a slightly higher restriction on riders... sounds perfect.
  7. well I did say it included WnWS (by helicopter)... so it wasn't strictly a queensland pass...
  8. Another low capacity one trick pony shoe horned into an existing park with no thought to cohesiveness or suitability, and purely just so they can say "see? we added a new one!"
  9. sorry to keep this totally off topic (perhaps these discussions could move to the lot sale thread?) but are the scanners the ballast discharge type? Understand if you don't wish to discuss Ifrit - but what are you going to do with them all?
  10. paving the way for next year's "Q156 VIP Gold Magic super special platinum world discovery passport spectacular 'nWild stunt driver heli-pass, giving you unlimited entry to SW, WnW, DW, MW, WnWS (by helicopter), plus discounts on fuel, shopping, mobile phone credit, free entry to outback spectacular, free pit-pass, free lunch at Rick's, accommodation at Sea World Resort, and a seat in the Senate at the next election.
  11. So it was part of the old studio tour once upon a time? Did the scanners all still have the 'green question-mark spinning gobo?
  12. Honestly? I'm going with "A" - i'd prefer reef diver and stingray. Here we have TWO HIGH CAPACITY attractions, that are a mild-medium thrill that many people can (and do ride). Now let's just assume it will be a power surge for the purposes of a comparison - Power Surge: 24 riders, manufacturer's height restriction 122cm (some are 132cm) Reef Diver: 40 riders, height restriction 110cm Stingray: 36 riders, height restriction 110cm So you're taking away two rides that younger kids can ride as they "graduate" from the kiddie rides, that can collectively handle 76 riders per cycle, with a mid-thrill that the whole family can enjoy, and replacing it with something that will eliminate kids 22cm taller than those who were riding Diver or Stingray, that can only handle 24 riders per cycle, with a high thrill that most parents would probably shy away from, and some kids would too. (looks to Liz.wiz for an opinion on that) (Edit: Liz has said previously she sticks with Dreamworld because they have the better offering for her kids - more variety at their levels etc - if DW continue to replace these "middle of the road" rides with extreme ones that are not only a much higher thrill, but also a much taller height restriction - I predict Liz may convert as the kids grow...) I mean don't get me wrong - replacing high capacity stalwarts with low capacity one-trick ponies is Dreamworld's thing - but the question was what would I rather. I'm not complaining that we're getting a new ride - but as has been said - if they stopped wasting money on these gimmicky one-trick ponies and just built solid attractions (even if we had to wait an extra year for each one) they'd be back on top again. They really are the Six Flags of the coast - except Six Flags at least recognised that the way to get people through the door was to build coasters (never mind that you can't ride them all in a single day unless you pay through the nose for it)
  13. I figured the movers would be AOS (which is why I didn't even consider taking a stab with all that dust! So i'm assuming the scanners were Riddler's Lair? Can't even remember it? where was it? anybody got any pics or info?
  14. They just flogged off a shitload of moving heads and scanners in their last maintenance lot sale, but they seem to do pretty well with lighting... just have to wait and see.
  15. How so? Shockwave is a Disk'O Coaster - A power surge is nothing like it? Unless you mean the Disk'O Coaster, Air Race and now Power Surge implies a 'Zamperla' theme?
  16. ^i'm sure their staff would appreciate much more notice before they go out and look for other work make other plans.
  17. I'm not sure they'd allow wetsuits? wouldn't it affect friction on the body slides? (aqualoop especially) but i find if you keep moving around (and not much waiting around) - and especially if you take a towel (take several and swap them out as they get too wet) and dry off after each slide - and you'll be fine. Be prepared for it to be cold though.
  18. Yeah I've got a feeling these daytime shows aren't involving any of the hired gear, and are more of a 'dress rehearsal' for them to get things right. Naturally when the hire gear arrives (if they're using any), they'll then set that up and continue running the day show to get the kinks in that sorted out. No matter what the system and who the tech, theres always a kink to work on... nothing ever works right first time without preparation.
  19. It is very hard for a stage performer to give faultless vocals whilst also dancing and moving around vigorously. studio recordings are usually done standing still where the performer can really concentrate on their vocal control. I don't think it's fair to criticise someone singing live - that alone takes guts. As for being ahead behind - are the performers wearing earpieces? It is possible for them to receive a wireless audio signal to an earpiece that helps them keep in time with the music from front of house... if they don't have IEM (in-ear monitoring), its extremely likely that they may just be relying on the speakers down main street - and sound takes time to travel over distance (especially that echo-ey tunnel) so they may receive their cues delayed depending on where they are in the park. (I have no idea your or anyone else's backgrounds [with a few exceptions] so i've explained this so any member might understand this explanation. If i've "dumbed it down" too much for your liking, please just roll with it.)
  20. ^well, thats better than announcing it on the day.
  21. Is that just an opinion? History suggests they've got a good working relationship with Zamperla (who no doubt build plenty of SPINNY things) - Fabbri are (in my own opinion) more of a carny ride builder and are less likely the ones supplying this "thrill" ride.
  22. Well, according to the text from 'Movie World' if you do it before June 30, you get gold for FREE.
