Castaway Bay is great -- yes. I'll give you that. I am just going off my experiences from the last few months, and obviously all of today's examples. If you say that work is being completed then I am happy. I do ask though, how is it obvious? (did I miss something?) Anyway, as I said, if I am proved wrong then I am happy. I'm not out to bad mouth the park and give it a bad name, but rather express my concerns. After all, I remember a time when the park had an amazing atmosphere. But, unfortunately, now most of that has deteriorated in my opinion. Just my 2 cents...

Went to the park today. It looked terrible. Every building down Main Street was in need of a refurb... to the point where black duct tape was being used. Not to mention the many windows that were completely open (to the point where you could see the internal roof), to equipment sticking out, speaker covers flapping in the wind and electricity cords running from one window to another. Found it interesting that some things have been fixed up, but replaced with the wrong colour wood panels, or panels that were completely different the building's overall design. Many of the park's major rides are in need of some serious work (Wild West, Scooby Doo, Batman Adventure, Looney Tunes), including the queue lines and surrounding facades. In my opinion, the park is on a par with a somewhat decent Six Flags park... which is far from world class, and also consider that Movie World's "point of difference" is theming, storylines and movie magic. Back on topic... I think we won't see anything too "complicated" replace the River Ride. I believe that WVTP will not want to spend the money needed to maintain a ride like this, as MickeyD has said. I want to be proven wrong here, but if they won't/can't spend the money required to keep the park looking somewhat decent, how can we expect them to spend "big" on the next attraction (theming wise). Of course, things may change once the VIP passes expire. I feel the next big attraction (as well as Sea World's BT replacement) will debut once the VIP passes have finished.

^ Sounds pretty cool. I really wish they'd rebrand the Looney Sports Store, though. It's full of HWSD merchandise!

Does anyone have a picture showing the building's exterior? -
WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
BNErider replied to Intamin's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Those fly coasters are quite common at Cedar Fair/Six Flags parks (from what I have seen). I went on one at Kings Dominion and loved it. I'm glad that WnW is installing one because I find they deliver quite a thrilling experience. -
^ Do you know if the 'Music Man' theme will be removed?

Love the ad! I really hope that the park continues to refurb some older attractions over the next few years. I also hope that they have something big in store for next year!
-
It might be the pre-show room for that new B&M the park is receiving next year...
-
I mistyped it originally as 'iMac'... Back on topic... I'm really glad to see that Dreamworld are starting to fix up parts of the park. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!

That's great! Have any of the external facades been painted? I can't wait to see what happens with the iMax theatre.

Has anything been done with the Marketplace?

Couldn't you just have coaster cars that resemble old cars? Even Disney wouldn't do something that extreme...
-
I suggest doing the same. I'm building a park in Sketch Up at the moment and it's x10 easier than RCT3.

I hope they do some work on the ride for their 20th birthday. They could advertise that it's 20 years old and has been 'reworked' in celebration. They could update the ride's main logo with a special '20th anniversary' design. And I hope more of the park receives a high-presure clean. Some areas around Main Street (HSD entrance for one) need a good clean!

What happened to the water mist on Superman Escape and the Batwing? Is this a 'cut-back' or just something that requires some new parts/maintenance?

As I said I was on a tight schedule. I had to basically do both parks in just over one day. I did everything that I wanted to do once, and Harry Potter twice.

I didn't make it to Disney World, but did go to IoA/USF. I stayed on-site for one night to take advantage of the front of line passes. I'm not sure how much they cost to purchase in the park, but would be well worth the money if you're on a tight schedule. The only rides that you can't use the front of line passes for is the Forbidden Journey and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (which isn't open at the moment). I do recommend hitting USF. It's much better than USH and spent about half the day there (with front of the line passes). IoA is great -- although didn't ride Dragon Challenge and some of the smaller rides. The Hulk has a great layout (one of my favourite B&Ms)... although I found the front to be quite rough. Don't get me wrong, the back isn't smooth, but I thought the back was more tolerable. Harry Potter is nice, but with all of the media fuss, I thought it'd be a tad more "Disney-like". However, my opinion might be skewed a tad because I had just finished two back-to-back TPR trips (plus visiting all of the LA parks), so I was starting to get sick of it all. I didn't hit SeaWorld, but wanted to. Manta is said to be a very good roller coaster, so I recommend going.

djrappa: Just to correct you, Hot Tomato was broadcasting live from Main Street. Not a huge deal, but it did take away from the atmosphere. It would have been better if they didn't play mainstream music at a Halloween-themed event... I agree the night was good, but I just wish a few things were improved. Still, it's their first night and it was raining, so I won't take things to heart.

It didn't seem that busy... just slow-moving queues. The queue for the 3D maze was shut off at 10:15pm... The two other mazes were great, but VERY long lines. The atmosphere wasn't as good as it could have been. Hot Tomato had their radio station playing quite loud out the front of the Photo Centre. Also, there didn't seem to be as much fog this year. However, there were more actors running around, which is great to see! Overall, it was an alright evening. If I could choose to make some changes, I would do the following: - Turn some lights off on Main Street - Increase the amount of fog coming out of the stormwater drains - Make sure that the only music playing is Halloween-themed - Keep indoor attractions open until their posted closing time - Keep the park open until midnight on busy nights 7/10 -- and considering I won a free ticket, that's a pretty low score.
-
^ Great news! The front looks great and I just hope that there will be some more actors on Main Street this year. On another note, did anybody win tickets to opening night? I guess I'll be going twice this year... No complaints from me!

I just measure things with the program's ruler and selected metric units. It was more a 'fun' project and didn't pay much attention to the scale. I should start again and do everything right. If you want, I could upload my project. It consists of a main area, 'Studio', New York section, stunt show courtyard/entrance and currently building a Tower of Terror-type ride. It's Warner Bros. and includes a Tower of Terror... so as you can see, it's totally for fun.

I really don't understand why people go to extreme lengths to 'copy' a park in RCT3. It takes a lot of time and effort for an end result that is never any good. RCT3 simply doesn't offer the amount of freedom that you'd need to do a park like Movie World. If you really want to design a park, choose a 3D modeling program like Sketchup. That's what I did.

Props -- like show props. Theming, I guess you could say.
