  1. Well, I'm not in business, so not probably the right person to talk about funding, about I would presume, most of the money is being borrowed? Having said that the company did just sell of the Sydney Attractions Group that it owned and Southern Cross Media just bought out Village Roadshow's majority share in Austereo. Back when both those things happened I do remember reading that money would o back into funding new attractions for the group as well as their expansion into Asia. All I can say is, go Village, I love to see an Aussie theme park companies expanding to show off to the rest of the world what we can do! I have been wondering as of late as well now that the Village Wet'n'Wild brand is growing in the US, what about the Wet'n'Wild in Orlando owned by Universal!
  2. ^ I think, from the review's I've read Main Street has been fairly packed, its nice opening up the road to the studios to where the two mazes are to help spread the crowds out, but I think as someone mentioned here before, add something to the back of the park around WWF to try and send crowds down there and space them out better. Maybe in future years be able to have WWF operate, another maze somewhere around there (I recall a maze being in the Intencity building one year and another in a tent next to WWF), and maybe throw in a show in the building, something like the Bill and Ted show Universal do. That giving the park, a show in HSD, the WW building, plus the shows and entertainment currently being offered in mainstreet. Maybe a few more people with chainsaws I've also been hoping to VRTP capitalise on Halloween and while the teenagers and adults head to MW, have SW get families and the young kids along for a family Halloween event, with a special parade maybe, lots of characters dressed up for Halloween, have some sort of Trick or Treat thing going and deck the park out with family friendly Halloween theming. That way the company can earn money from both having all ages able to attend a Halloween night spread across the 2 parks, the only thing is logistically it might be a bit hard for SW and they may need to up their ride count first!
  3. I'm actually curious to know what rides MW or VRTP have let deteriorate? LW was given a refresh by getting a new theme and trains. Both Batman and Gremlins were closed to make way for great new rides, with LT presumably next to follow. Sure, Batman and LT weren't looking great by the end of their life BUT they were at the end of their life, they could have kept them going with less people visiting and let them fall apart even more, same goes for BT which is now getting replaced. WWF just went through a major rehab, sure the lift hill isn't quite what it used to be since the fire but that was a long time ago, and at its current standard all effects are always going to the best of their ability. Anytime something wasn't quite right with Scooby people on here would mention this and it would seem the next time someone visited the problem was fixed. The flooding on SE broke, that was fixed. Corkscrew was given a new lease of life as SV and when problems occurred with that the park spent a considerable amount of money fixing it to keep it going. I've the flume go down numerous times as well for a well deserved rehab. So, really I'm curious what rides then has the park "let go" to deteriorate, as is apparently their reputation, other than ones that are getting ear marked for replacements?
  4. If you read the article it also states (which I forgot about) that only does the ride have all the signage but the annoucements from the speakers as you make your way up the tower. To top it off since her saying there was no warning given to her whatsoever, she has since back tracked and no says. . .
  5. I'm just so pumped to see such a great Batman Adventure The Ride replacement. Now I'm going to be greedy and look to the future, I'm hoping they replace the LT River Ride next, open a refreshed kids area in the middle of next year, with the River Ride replacement opening in the Christmas holidays, or this time, depending on when they plan to open SW's water coaster. Then finally moving onto the Wild West area, but thats just me being greedy. At least now this can shut some of those people up on the Facebook page, I had a good laugh when someone posted how much better DW is because they have a better upkeep on their rides and don't leave them SBNO, and don't let things or theming stop working and not replace them.
  6. Yep, there would be about 80 people on the ride at any given time with people at loading/unloading and therefore over the hour my horrible maths would tell me it could take 800 people per hour!?!? Gazza would be better at this. Also, for those who have ridden this type of ride system before, how does it compare?? I know this is a first of its kind, but other shooters out there, not just Disney and Universal, both other similar ride systems at other parks. Real cool review as well Gazza, good to read an in depth detail of what happens!
  7. So that's about what 800? My Mathis isn't the greatest that seems pretty respectable, how's that compared with other MW rides??
  8. You know I read these comments before and just thought, do some people just complain for the sake of complaining without even experiencing first before passing judgement?? I'm not going to pass any judgement on it, until I get to experience it first hand... But it does look completely awesome and really want to get back to the coast asap to experience it!!
  9. ^ My guess is, with everything in their opening days need tweaking here and there.
  10. Its been mentioned on these forums before, but no. It has something to do with DC Comics won't allow him to be seen unless he is flying, or in the form of like a statue (like how he is on the DC store)? I think its been said before, it was something along the lines an actor dressed as him before was shot, because someone thought he was made of steel and it wouldn't affect him
  11. I have heard when these get into crashes, which I believe happens frequently (well at least in the early days don't know about today), it needed to be taken by truck up to a Mitsubishi factory sort of thing up in around Springwood? To have the work done to it to fix it up and then driven back down by truck again to MW to return to the show. One of reasons the show has such a high cost involved. Link didn't work for me.
  12. Which is something I've been meaning to ask, does anyone know if management decided to buy the second train? With Summer coming up, their busiest period of the year, I was wondering if they were going to do something to help relieve those long lines it got last holidays and that wasn't even the parks peak period. Plus, no doubt, the park will be pulling a lot more visitors with JL!
  13. I realise this, but I would really like to see the park preserve with it and turn it into a Halloween style ride during the month, much like the US parks do with some of their rides and attractions during the Halloween months, some of them even do it for Christmas as well!
  14. I've been thinking about it and I'd like to see the park do something as follows: $99 VIP Pass - Block out dates during holidays and public holidays - No "buy 3, get one free" - No F&B discounts - No early entry - No free entry to WC or FN - No discounts or special promotions $150 Gold VIP Pass - Less restricted block out dates, but still some during the parks stupidly busy periods - Offer "buy 3, get the 4th half price" - Small F&B and retail discount (something like 5%) - No early entry - ONE free entry to either FN OR WC - Small access to discounts and special promotions $200 Platinum VIP Pass - No block out dates - Offer "Buy 3 get one free" - F&B and retail discount (this time 15 maybe 20%) - One hour early entry - ONE free night to both FN and WC (guests with this pass could also upgrade to passes that give you unlimited access to every night for a smaller price than everyone else) - Access to all special promotions and discounts - Priority line and the parks entrance for them - *Access to them getting a say in the parks future attractions - A proper card, rather than the print out plastic ones *Basically just a simple survey, similar to what the park already does now, they also could treat these surveys with a grain of salt and many pass holders probably wouldn't complete them. However, from marketing perspective it could make them feel "special" and "included", that they are such a valued customer the park wants to know what ride they want next. The park could price it however they want to suit their profits, but from my POV that seems to make sense, but I'm not in the theme park business. I also like it because those who can't afford Platinum, still basically the same they get now, just with block out dates, the block out dates would work wonders for the park to stop it getting overcrowded in the peak periods, with full paying customers and cheap passes, as well towards the end when the passes run out. Locals can still get the cheap on and help nicely balance the parks attendance figure out in the off-season. The park makes more money from those paying the extra money, and those paying the extra money, feel that little bit more special. Those with the more expensive pass may be more inclined to buy F&B or retail in the park because they get a discount and perceive it as good value, whereas they might not have before. Also, for those paying the full entry price, I would let them gain the extra entry as well, so they get a chance at some ERT before everyone else with a pass rushes in. This sort of model works wonders for the Disney parks, why couldn't something like this work for our 3 GC parks and maybe down the future work WnW Sydney into, to give even greater value with the VRTP pass over the ones offered by Ardent Leisure. I know people have said this before, but what are people's thoughts on this. I also have no problem with naming and shaming staff if they aren't providing good service, these people are meant to make customers day "special" and forget about the real world. If some staff don't do this then management needs to know and correct it. In Alex's situation I'm not going to comment, but yes I think it needs to be drummed into staff, these are paying customers that are here to forget the realities of the real world. Just wanted to touch on this since we're talking about perks, passes, pricing and staff. The idea of fastpass sort of thing that the park has already trialled, before they bring it in, I would rather they focused on operations and got ALL rides and attractions to operating at full capacity and getting people on and off and on their way as fast as possible before even thinking about bringing in this type of system. IMO I also don't think people should pay for it, it would give an advantage over DW's current system and if it will slow down wait times and the throughput, the amount of people getting on these rides and attraction per hour, then plain and simple, I don't want it. Just keep operations performing at its best, getting through as many people as they can in line.
  15. Yes, but they solved this in past years by setting up portable floodlights around the entire back portion of the ride.
  16. ^ Ah, it was right in front of me, and I completely missed it, thanks
  17. What surprised me is that the site states Justice League will close at 9pm, Batman use to open till closing and surely this new ride won't make any external noise?? If this ride is a huge people eater it will be disappointing on the night to close it down only leaving Scooby open. I was also hoping GL would be far enough at the front to somehow get an exemption to open later, guess it too still makes too much noise! Actually checking their website, there is no mention of Scooby being open, it lists the attraction open and Scooby is left off, typo?? WWF doesn't seem to be open as well, also disappointing, because I remember going in past years and it being open, I've always thought it would be a great ride to theme it up for Halloween with the ghost town and all and have actors roaming the attraction to scare guests on the boat, but then I guess that comes down to OH&S. Also, no mention of Club Blood this year, thats disappointing, was really hoping that would return.
  18. If I could choose the next ride for MW, I would want either, a wooden rollercoaster, a second water ride (being a rapid ride, something high-tech and blows DW's old rapids away, look at what they have overseas, we're seriously missing out!), or an omni-mover (something that would replace LT, if they don't want to re-use the river, simply because they are huge people eaters, great family rides and provide an opportunity for some great theming). Next, though I think the park should revisit the kids area, to really keep focusing on that family area, now that we've had GL and AA. Give the area a new look, keep the LT theme, some new rides? And replace the river ride with either the two suggestions I had above with a rapid or omni-mover, depending on what fits.
  19. I believe the park has even done plans for this, as was seen in another thread. I believe they want this, but I'm guessing they're just waiting for the perfect time! But don't expect to see the studios moving anytime soon, just because of the cost. Personally, I wouldn't mind them moving the studios, just to make way for the "resort" to be bigger and move the studios so they can also expand and make way for more movies and shows to be produced on the coast.
  20. I'll be interested to see how the water coaster goes from Bermuda over to the old Pirate Ship area in back, if it happens. I was more hoping for a flat ride that would replace the Pirate Ship and get the ride count back up, but I won't complain about the water coaster being bigger. Also, should we split the thread now, one for the Seal attraction and one for what we presume is the water coaster replacing BT??
  21. Details now coming through, just got the email! Looks like the park is going for a Zombie theme this year! http://themeparks.com.au/VIP-Zone/Fright-Nights.aspx?WT.mc_id=VRTPeDM;120821fn;HFindoutmore
  22. Awesome, I've been waiting for something since the last Seal attraction left, and SW takes a step further at returning to the park I used to love and returning everything that left! Question is where does this go? Over near the Pirate ship I would think is too close to the rides, BT I thought we would be seeing the Water Coaster go there (at least until I found all these new attractions coming) or over in the plot of land they cleared near Dolphin Cove. Over near Dolphin Cove would seem like the most logical answer to me, but is public access easy and is there enough room over. Nonetheless VRTP just keep pulling more and more surprises out of their hat and makes that VIP Pass look all the more attractive over Dreamworld's... which surely by now they must be thinking "shit!"
  23. Its at DW, the first ep said 'coming to you from Dreamworld' and the end of the show has the big DW logo and DW have also tweeted peoples tweets about the show. I thought the show was in the old house because I remember seeing photos of the old house being re-done. How did you see it anyway? The show is currently on now and is so far tucked away in the property you can't see it from the park!
