  1. So - where did this information actually come from.... exactly?
  2. Ash was right. It was mentioned back in November: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/in...ost&p=48698
  3. I think they play the Imperial March - but also (as Spotty pointed out) the Cantina Band, which was was playing in the bar that Ben and Luke went into at Mos Eisley in Episode 4 (the first movie released). I'm sure there are others where I've thought, "Oh that's........" but now I forget what they are! I'm pretty sure I've heard the theme to ET (The Extra Terrestrial).
  4. Wikipedia can be a useful source of information when information is added by people who either know their stuff or have done the research. But you're right. We shouldn't take it seriously. In fact, it's quite hilarious that someone can be that stupid to post opinion and misinformation like that. I bet they think they're a real hero - when really they're just a loser.
  5. Yeah it's pretty disgusting. An encyclopaedia is supposed to be FACT, not OPINION. This kind of stuff belongs in a blog, not Wikipedia. Edit: And it doesn't stop with the quote above! "Despite continuous maintenance needed on this ride, Dreamworld will keep the Wipeout open. On average, the ride has a fault at least twice a day."
  6. Hey Shadow! Glad you went on SE and Batwing. They're heaps of fun. I was at Movieworld a couple of weeks ago. We ended up hanging out with a couple of girls from Toowoomba who hadn't been before. They weren't going to go on Superman Escape but we talked them into it. One of them was freaking out as we got closer to the front of the line and nearly chickened out. But as soon as we finished the ride, they both literally ran back into the line to do it again! Once you get over that fear and actually do it - you have so much fun!
  7. Please!! No!! I hate spinny rides! They're so 80's! (Okay so they're strapped to a roller-coaster as well, but still!)
  8. Yep - http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/in...ost&p=48698
  9. And where did this information come from? You seem to have a lot of "inside information". The Stingray is back in place, but wasn't running on Saturday when I was there. It's no longer on the "Ride and Attraction Maintenance" page so it might be up and running again now.
  10. That's what I wanna know too! I just love all the posts on here from people claiming they have inside information from a relative's friend's co-worker (or some mix of those) or a "contact" they have. I'm with MickeyD. I'll believe it when I see it!
  11. You'll probably find that as a business, Dreamworld had to come up with a plan to reduce water usage. It was probably included as part of the plan. Who knows, when the drought is over, they might fill it again. All purely speculation on my part.
  12. Thanks Spotty! I'm not going crazy after all!
  13. I have heard that a larger friend of mine was not able to ride Superman Escape, but he is extremely large. If you're worried, why not call the theme parks and ask? They'll be able to tell you the specific rides where size may be a problem. I'd recommend Dreamworld and Seaworld. They both have enough to keep the family entertained even if you don't get to go on all the rides.
  14. Only one projector would be used. 3D movies are generally shot with 2 cameras, side-by-side (like eyes) with filters on each camera. Back when they first started 3D, this was achieved by coloured lenses (e.g. red and blue) The red lens would only let red light through - the blue one would only let blue light through. The two images were then combined onto one film. To the naked eye, it would look like the image is ghosted, because you could see both the red and blue filtered images, but when you put 3D glasses on, one eye would only see the red and the other would only see the blue, creating the 3D effect. Unfortunately the colour filters meant that colour images didn't show right, so they started using polarised lenses. These are a bit more complicated - and only allow light through in one "direction". You can tell if a lens is polarised by holding it over a digital watch and rotating it. The display switches from visible to completely blank. (This is because digital watches use polarising lenses to make particular sections look black for the display.) The downside of the earlier "linear polarisation" is that tilting your head affects how the image is seen. More recently Disney has developed a method called "Real D", which uses "circular polarisation" (clockwise and counter-clockwise), which means it doesn't matter if the viewer tilts his or her head. It also alternates frames between L&R rather than actually overlaying the image (although it'd probably look exactly the same on the screen). For more informaton, check out the article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_film
  15. If you look closely you'll notice the picture changes just before take-off. (Actually, you really don't need to look that closely.) No doubt the later shot was taken with the person safely in place with lap-bar down and the phone/cam pointing backwards in his upraised hand.
  16. I'm with Churros. I have a feeling that the ten-pin bowling complex will be built outside of Dreamworld - where patrons of both Dreamworld and WWW can go if they choose. It will possibly be open 'til later in the evening meaning you can go bowling after a day at either park. (Although I'm usually stuffed and can't wait to get home!) People not actually going to Dreamworld or WWW could also go bowling, but there will probably be discount offers for holders of Dreamworld or WWW tickets.
  17. Did you end up going on the weekend? I went today and there was a section of fence "missing" - possibly where it had been wired up.
  18. Is it just me or has the Wipeout sequence changed slightly since the recent maintenance? During the middle, it changes so that the motors are going in the same direction (after going in opposite directions), but they're not lined up. This is before the ride stops and does the slow upside-down thing (where it IS lined up). I could be wrong... it just seemed different.
  19. I went to Dreamworld today - took a friend from New Zealand. He hadn't been before. As we were queuing for TOT, he commented that the whole place needs a makeover. This is coming from someone who has never been before, so it's not just those who have been around for donkey's years who believe that it is deteriorating. There's some work going on behind WWW - don't know if the land there is owned by Dreamworld and if it is, whether it's development for WWW or DW (I'd say WWW). Also today I was wondering whether one day the Cyclone might be removed - and WWW expanded to that area and include Flowrider. Just a thought. The Cyclone is a rickety old thing and DW needs a fast-launch roller-coaster like Superman Escape (imo).
  20. Just clarifying - it was the ride op who said this to the maintenance guy. As I was getting off the ride, I do not know what action the maintenance guy took. For all I know, he could've looked at it and fixed it straight away.
  21. When I was at Dreamworld a few weeks ago, it was making a strange sound just as it was coming back to the station. It made the sound as we arrived back at the station and there was a maintenance guy there. I overheard the ride op saying, "It was doing that the other day."
  22. The percentage is based on the total number of boxes ticked in all votes. Add up the Yes and No votes (currently 4 and 8 respectively) and divide each one by that total (12). Currently the "Total Votes" is 11, but 4+8=12, which means that one person voted both yes and no (i.e. Gazza).
  23. Hi Sonic. Sorry to be picky, but.... 1. The poll question is different to the question in the subject and message body, making it necessary to tick the opposite to what you would if you were answering the subject or message body. This could be a bit confusing. 2. There's a big difference between "doing well" and making "their biggest mistake". People may not believe Dreamworld has "done well", but that doesn't mean they think Dreamworld has "made their biggest mistake". When posting polls, you should be clear on what you're asking people to vote on. 3. The poll has check boxes instead of radio buttons, meaning you can tick both yes and no. Again - sorry to be picky... but I don't think we'll get clear results with the current wording and options.
