  1. How have crowds been at MW for the last few days since QLD schools went back? Queue times? Thanks
  2. There is a new pass now available that is valid until the 30th of June 2012 for only 79.99 online or 89.99 at the gate. Is there anyway to upgrade my current summer locals pass to this new VIP offer?
  3. Are all four of the slides identical to each other or are the middle two a little different from the outer two? Thanks,
  4. Will it be ridable today during the meda launch???
  5. What kind of Themeing could really be expected at this stage with roughly a week till opening? There seems to be very little construction around the station area. Is anyone else concerned?
  6. Just spotted this article online: What do you think? Another park that won't ever get past planning? "QUEENSLAND'S richest man, Clive Palmer, has vowed to invest "a couple of billion dollars" to make the Sunshine Coast the jewel in the state's tourism crown. The mining magnate, who recently bought the Hyatt Regency Coolum Resort, said the area was unique in the world and deserved better recognition. Mr Palmer opened fire at politicians and the private sector, saying a lack of commitment in promoting tourism overseas had led to the industry's demise. "This generation has let it die. In the past we had images of Paul Hogan putting a shrimp on the barbie and World Expo. The potential has always been there, but we have let it slip," he said. "There are 10 million Chinese going to Waikiki and the US on package tours each year. Why don't they come here?" He foreshadowed a major redevelopment of the Hyatt site and "other properties in the area" to create a resort precinct that would be attractive to international tourists. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. He would not confirm or deny considering a casino element, but said an exciting family-oriented theme park or attraction could be in the mix. The Hyatt's championship golf course would stay. "I expect to announce a comprehensive plan in May next year," he said. Mr Palmer, whose company Mineralogy is private and unaffected by the sharemarket turmoil, was at Coolum yesterday to announce the Hyatt would sponsor his Gold Coast United soccer team in the upcoming A-League season. Queensland Tourism Minister Jan Jarratt said that Mr Palmer's promise of investment was a "vote of confidence" in the state's tourism industry. "If anyone knows a good investment when they see it, it would be Queensland's richest man," she said. Ms Jarratt said she disagreed that not enough was being done to attract international tourists. She said Tourism Queensland had established offices in China and was working hard to prepare operators for the emergence of what was expected to be a strong growth market. Mr Palmer also revealed he would work towards luring direct flights with China Airlines to Sunshine Coast Airport." Article Link
  7. I really hope it is longer than the extended version. Even that seems really short. Plus how is capacity on this ride? With only two carriages what will the lines be like?
  8. Ummm are you sure you were there NYE? I was and in the the hours I was in the park (10-1pm approx) SE broke down 3 times from memory.
  9. Well I went to MW on the 18th and SDSC was a disgrace. There was little smoke in the room, only 1 or 2 lasers most of the time and the audio sounded like it was coming from 1 speaker that was facing the floor. The disco room was also really bright - as in the whole track layout could be seen from the turntable with ease. Polar Express is OK. Seats offered very little by way of motion throughout the film and their movement was sometimes out of sync and really didn't add anything thought the mist effects implemented well. Went to Gotham City for dinner and waited over 1hour (yes it was timed) in a queue of about 20 people. Very inefficient service and the queues beside must have cycled through about three times the length of ours over the duration of the wait. Other than that good day all round though some staff incredibly rude while others exemplary. White Christmas was amazing and really impressive to see. The lights looked fantastic and the snow, entertainment and immaculate floats resounded quality and attention to detail. LW soundtrack as per normal when I went. SW tomorrow.
  10. How are SDSC, WWF and SE after maintenance? SE got a new coat of paint yet?
  11. Personally I think that Green Lantern and these type of coasters are look awful though I think if it was built indoors it would be a fantastic addition but I realise that the enclosing structure would have to be huge.
  12. What a shame that the zipline and flowrider are upsharge though the latter was expected. How is the zipline going to work as in will it land in the wave pool or or near it?
  13. Haha if he thinks that was very fastest I can't wait to see what they say about the Aqualoop slides. Looks like a winner to me.
  14. Wow it must have been in the construction stage still
  15. Another cost cutting measure? This is getting ridiculous.
  16. How did you get multiple entrances to your park Joz?
  17. Does anyone think that Whitewater will beat WnW in completing the addition first. The above comment says that WWW will get it in Easter while WVTP said they were hoping for a September opening. Maybe they will rethink after this new piece of information.
  18. Wow! It is looking really good Brandan. How long has it taken you so far?
  19. haha, those videos are so funny, the dialogue in the second one especially, they were really freaking out. Does anyone know if any compensation is given to patrons who are stuck on a ride for a prolonged period of time such as food vouchers etc. etc?
  20. Definitely sad to see Twister go, I just wish that they could move them to another area of the park. Maybe over near Mammoth Falls. That said, I am really excited to see these 4 new additions come to Wet'n'Wild. I hope they do something really spectacular with them, something that makes everyone who sees them think, WOW! I also would like Terror Canyons space filled with something new, preferably enclosed slides just like the Terror Canyons with multiple, unexpected drops and turns. Oh and does anyone else think that Tornado is in major need of a new paint job?
  21. I have been once when the outside queue was open, it took so long to get on the ride. Good to hear Scooby is running well again I hope it stays this way for the months to come. Last time I went was just before these Christmas holidays and the disco room was full of light and there was hardly and fog.
  22. It would be nice to see a new attraction installed at Movieworld. A group of us went today and with Batwing down and many major rides only having 1 operator, the queues were fairly long. SDSC was really poor, the disco room was not dark with minimal fog and only a handful of lasers. A little disappointing considering it just came out of a maintenance session. In all I really hope that MW can come up with a bunch of new quality attractions to increase the ride count while ensuring that the quality of former 'star' attractions does not drop.
