  1. I still wish they had put the effort into restoring the Looney Tunes Ride - the ride was a park classic and was still popular even if it was a little lacklustre in its final years.
  2. Looks like Dreamworld may finally be cleaning up its act*, literally! * Or could be a result of the cooler weather
  3. Here is the latest Nearmap image of the Wet 'n' Wild Jnr. Construction site, from 25th June. Not too much happening yet, but gives a sense of the size of the attraction.
  4. Godzilla? There is no way they would use Marvel characters in Movie World, nor would Disney ever allow it. And Transformers is already taken by Universal Parks.
  5. Exactly, I doubt a lot of the teens that ride Twilight Zone TOT have no Idea about the TV series. (the only reason I know is because I'm interested in theme-parks and take the time to look into these things).
  6. I disagree that Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster would work "better" if it was re-themed to the animated series, what would you do to achieve this? I do feel that they could have rides based on a generic movie theme. Like Wild West Falls, it is not in reference to any particular movie, but pays homage to the western genre of films.
  7. When it comes to film licensing we also have to remember that the parks are owned by Village Roadshow - they are no longer in any part owned by Time Warner (Warner Bros.). Village roadshow simply has a liscencing agreement with Timer Warner to use the Warner Bros. Brand name in/for the park. So just because Warner owns the rights to something, it does not mean that it can be automatically put into the park.
  8. That's were the mini fount of stars (water fountain from the front of Movie World) will be.
  9. Yes Ollivander's is still at Hogsmede, although they did close the joke shop (Zonko's) and expanded the candy store (Honeydukes) into its space. Ollivanders at Hogsmede was one of the major diversions the park made from the books (with permission from J.K Rowling), as Ollivanders in the books and films is only found in Diagon Alley, so they made the Hogsmede Ollivanders to be a sort of of local branch off the original location. And the interactive wand is not an upgrade of the Ollivanders experience its all new - When you buy a RFID chipped wand you can walk around the area and cast spells with the wand and see things happen all around Diagon Alley and Hogsmede. See Here >>
  10. How do you prefer your referencing - Harvard style or APA? Dots, D. (2014). Theme Park Rumours. Paducah, KY: Dippn' Dots LCC.
  11. Considering that the entire new land replaced 1 single ride (Jaws Ride) I think this is a huge improvement! * It now has a signature new ride (Gringotts Coaster) * The train ride going between the 2 parks * A range of highly themed shops (7 shops + a market area with stalls) (A huge range of theme-park exclusive merchandise) * Ollivanders Wand shop is basically an attraction/show in itself. * A Restaurant (Leaky Cauldron) and other food options * A stage with 2 different live shows performed throughout the day * An interactive wand experience (you purchased wands can be used to interactive with theme elements in both Harry Potter worlds)
  12. I know that both the Imagine Dolphin Show and the Fish Detectives shows are both in the process of being updated/changed, but it is a relatively long process as the have to retrain the animals (mainly the seals, as the dolphins just require a rearrangement of the skills they already possess).
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP_Cr0PNaEQ Here is the Gringotts scene from the movie - Looks like it was made to be turned into a ride.
  14. sorry the far right looks like Wild West Falls to me - you can see the shape of the mountain with a black opening with blue presumably water coming out.
  15. it looks like on the far left of the mural they have painted the wild west falls, and on the far right could be road runner?
  16. I wonder if they will include miniature scale versions of the rides.
  17. I'm thinking the hole in the wall will be kept as a viewing area for parents to watch their kids drive around - especially considering it doesn't look as though parents will be able to ride with their kids.
  18. Here is the latest NearMap from 21st April of the "former" "Wild" construction zone.
  19. Here is a pic with footprint of the SeaDiver - it takes up a much larger area than I initially thought, especially if you include the seating area next to it.
  20. Here is a NearMap Image taken on 21st April, of the Wipeout work.
  21. Food and essential services retailers are free to open at any-time on ANZAC day in QLD ,many smaller retailers tend not to open due to higher staff costs on a public holiday. The themeparks however come under a different set of rules of the trading act as a "place of amusement" they cannot by law open until 1:30pm on ANZAC day.
  22. How does Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage fit the theme of Tomorrowland? Or Pirates of the Caribbean fit into the theme of New Orleans? Disneyland itself the "model" themepark has a few examples of jarring themes.
  23. True haha, but there isn't any fire effects in that ride - Its all digital projections with fog-machine "cannons".
