  1. I’ve heard through a reliable source that 2020 will be the year for WnW GC. With possible slide refurbishments, relocations and one (maybe even two) new attractions. Multiple locations within the park are being explored (Buggy’s, Mach 5, Behind Block Hole). I would at least hope to see Mach 5 removed, with a replacement attraction and some slide refurbs (River rapids, Aqualoop, Constrictor, Tornado). After WWWs big investments last year, I hope that is a wake up call for VRTP to invest into the park properly.
  2. Maybe after all the negative comments they got about TOT closing, they will just keep pushing its opening back and then one day it will be officially closed, but there won’t be any official post about it and it will be erased from existence.
  3. Doomsday and Green Lantern are also closed for a couple months too
  4. But there has been times in the past where a ride has had scheduled maintenance in the future but the ride just closes permanently beforehand
  5. Why do they always have the same rides under maintenance at the exact same time every year. I get they might want to have rides down roughly a year after the last maintenance, but surely there is no harm in pushing it back by a couple months so it’s not closed at the same. Swapping JR and SC would be a smart move
  6. Seems like all the attractions are closed during their usual months As the Star Flyer isn’t listed for maintenance does that mean we will see if close before the end of the year? Maybe we will see it close once major Leviathan construction is underway?
  7. I did some looking into your statement, one person commented saying it was ‘like a rotisserie oven on hot days’ and someone else replied saying that the whole of the park is hot (which I agree with). Because of all that concrete and lack of trees/shading does make that whole area hot, so hopefully during the return/expansion they resolve that issue. But in regards to your post ‘geh the complaints coming through’. I would say complaints and there was one person. One person. Who said it was hot. I definitely would say complaints are coming through. And no one mentioned air con. To resolve the issue, they just got to remove the Perspex. The ride already has bars, so no one can get through anyways. That simple.
  8. It launches forward, but not at full speed. So it rolls back and launches backwards to pick up speed, then it rolls back forward for that final launch to push it to max speed
  9. You say that, but the Jet Streams lasted about 6 seconds and they destroyed your back
  10. And I would much rather JR over Storm. JR is one of the best coasters on the GC
  11. Yep, it’s great when your sat on the seating, but because it’s so close to the shoreline, it isn’t great when your anywhere else
  12. Also forgot to add they hand out a map and cardboard glasses, which I thought was a nice touch. and here’s a look at the Aquacolour Spectacular set up
  13. It was supposed to go where the new helicopter centre and the penguin encounter is I think it’s a good attraction for the park. It was not a good replacement for what was there beforehand. They classify it as a family coaster, which is definitely is. The track section is fine. The most disappointing part for me is the river part after the splash down. It just ends, when it should have snaked a little and built up suspension. And the load and unload should not be right next to each other because that ruins the point of the story they build. The ship is supposed to be flipped, but the sign and other theming is the right way up.
  14. So I went to Carnivale tonight, the second time I’ve ever been (the last being two years ago). Overall, it was a very enjoyable night and there seemed to be a lot of good improvements. There was plenty of street entertainment and performers the entire night throughout the park. It just didn’t stop and it was fantastic. Created a great atmosphere, especially with so many of them. The park was decorated well (nothing majorly different compared to two years ago), but there was some nice lighting across the park. I must say that I do really enjoy SW at night. The types of lighting that matches areas of the park, signage and attraction lighting and watching the creatures within Shark Bay when they’re most active is really enjoyable. Parking two years ago was a nightmare. Navigating your way through the carpark was horrible and it took over an hour to get out. This year however they had traffic control which made the process a lot easier. My advice would be to just not park in the SW carpark at all and park on the street. The traffic to get into the carpark at the start of the night was crazy, so unless you arrive really early, don’t park in there. Both entrances were open (but I would recommend going to the straight ahead one rather than the usual pass holder one, it seemed to be much quicker). Side note: The main entrance looked different above the ticket booths, so it seems like they are undergoing a refurbishment. As soon as we entered the park at 5:45, the party had already started with entertainment everywhere, but also a lot of people. The crowds were very very big and this lead to probably one of the biggest issues with the event. Because of SWs long design, navigating your way through the park, especially with the park through the new Atlantis now open yet, makes the main path very crowded. Crowds in and around the plaza were also crazy and this isn’t helped by the placement of the food stands. Because they are at the front, queues extend across the path and cause bottlenecking to occur. I think reorganising the placement of these would be helpful. The entertainment under the plaza was fantastic and constant. Really felt like a part under there. The food also all looked really good and there was some variety. Definitely not up to standard of variety of Carnivale back when it was at MW, but still some good choice. Obviously the main part of the event is now the Aquacolour Spectacular. This year the show has a story. The water effects weren’t as spectacular as last time, mostly because they weren’t as big or as many. But with lighting, fire, projection and even fireworks. I found it to be a really enjoyable show. Just watched out for the creepy baby and the PS2 graphics. The incorporation of dancers, a float and the story didn’t feel cheesy (unlike the Thunder Lake Show) and I thought really added to the event bringing it all together. My partner didn’t find the show as enjoyable because she felt the story wasn’t necessary and things didn’t flow as well. She preferred the much bigger and dramatic fountains and water effects. Also, you will get wet if you’re sat on the seating. There is an announcement before the show letting the audience know they may get wet, but I can assure you, you will definitely get wet. It is only a mist, but this is because the fountains are much closer to the shoreline this year. Overall I found the event to be an improvement on my last visit two years ago and I would recommend checking it out, especially if you haven’t been in a while.
  15. Has anyone used this exciting new path? And has anyone noticed whether it’s been used often?
  16. I would imagine the majority are pass holder redemptions because it’s at SW I feel like most people might see it as too far out the way for them and because it has started towards the end of the school holidays they have missed the major part of the holiday rush.
  17. It was also great to see they had green tape on the ground to create an extended queue for the most popular rides in the park
  18. This Friday and Saturday have sold out as well as the 18th
  19. For those who have seen the show, what are your thoughts and how does it compare to previous shows/holiday entertainment the park has had? @Gold Coast Amusement Force posted this video of the exterior, pre-show entertainment and other activities within the building
