  1. ^they did replace those rides. Junior Driving school and storm and are in their place. Justice league is like a laser tag ride, where you sit in cars and get taken along a track as you shoot at objects.
  2. Just having a look at ticket pricing and a DW adult day ticket is now $95. Since when did they go up another $10? I don't see how they can justify $110 for a year, or $95 a day. They must be loosing money through single day tickets now since the passes are cheaper.
  3. In saying that about TOT2, that happened in 2010. Last year they upgraded Wipeout and look what they can do. The ride looks brand new. So there is the possibility of them doing the same sort of thing to Cyclone. The ride is closed for just over a month near the end of the year, so we may see some minor upgrades down then.
  4. What I think they need to do to the ride is: replace the train with a new one, replace the chain/pull system up the lift hill and demolish the station and queue line and construct a new and better one. A fresh coat of paint on the track would be nice as well. I would assume that the ride isn't smooth because of the train. The track may have a couple of minor issues, but nothing major, otherwise it would probably need replacing. The seating themselves aren't comfortable, as there is minimal leg room and I find that the harness doesn't fit right or feels quite loose, so it causes you to thrown around a lot more.
  5. ^Yes. So many people complain about them and think they relate to the American SeaWorlds. The park isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so people just support them or at least stop complaining. As far as I'm aware there isn't anyone else going out and resulting whales from shark nets. Yes some of the creatures do perform tricks, but most of these behaviours are ones that most of them would do in the wild. I fully support the park, and think everything they do and stand for is an essential part to southeast Queensland
  6. Maybe one of the new v8 supercar attractions is an re-theme of MDMC
  7. In response to the parkz update, as it wouldn't let me do it on that forum: I didn't realise they were closing the area off during the ski stunt show. They should deinetly have a sign stating this. Also, I do get the idea of why they have only opened one of the gate doors fully and the other partially, so that guests can see the detailing of the gate, but it doesn't provide as much of an inviting feel as it could (IMO). Because the 2 areas of the attraction are apart, I do think there should be something that provides a link in some way. Even if it was some paint work on the ground (tentacles, foot prints, flowing water affect, small outlines of creature), just something so that it is a bit more clear. I defiantly feel like the whale shark over the grass is pointless, it just doesn't look right. It is a shame that they didn't build a new building on the grassed area, where the whale shark is, as that would make more sense.
  8. I think the Big Thrill Ride concept was a good one, but now I think they should move on from it. The only rides I think that should be a part of it are: Giant Drop, TOT2, Wipeout, Claw, Cyclone and BuzzSaw. MDMC is more a family ride. Pandaemonium, despite being quite full on, I don't think it should be a part of the BTR. Tailspin can be thrilling, but for most people who can't or don't try to get it to spin it isn't. I think the thrill rides should be classified as a ride which is large and noticeable and one that obviously provides thrills. I'm not saying that a thrill ride can only be a ride within these classifications, but for DW I think so. I don't think DW are going to change the Big Thrill Ride idea, but I do think that once they get to the Big 10 Thrill Rides, that is it for that campaign. If they are going to add more thrill rides after that don't bother with the BTR idea, because it will get ridiculous.
  9. I defiantly agree that Jet Rescue is better in every way. I don't think MDMC should be removed, as it isn't a bad ride, but it could defiantly be improved. The issue begins with the bikes. They are uncomfortable and aren't the easiest restraints to get into. The leg section for the restraint needs a lot more padding. The themeing is alright, but once you leave the station, that's it. As said, there is no major thrills to the ride excluding the launch. It mostly stays at the same level, and just has smooth turns. This may be due to the size of the bikes (not sure on that one). I think the issue is that the park advertise it as a thrill ride. It is more of a family ride. But I would say that most kids like to say that they went on a thrill ride/adults ride. If the track had more sharp turns and helix's it would be a definite improvement. This is unlikely though, as the track would have to be redesigned and that would be costly. I do enjoy the ride when I go on it, but it isn't one I have to go on, mainly because of the uncomfortableness of the ride.
  10. Yeah, but one man is thought to have lost his leg
  11. Driving past MW this evening and the Green Lantern logo has been turned back on. As far as I'm aware it has only been turned back on in the last few days, unless I haven't noticed before.
  12. So I went to SW today and checked it out, and overall I was impressed with it. The mixture of creatures, their movement, sound effects and controllability was really good. It is very similar to what Dinosaur Island was, but obviously having a different theme. The use of lighting was good and provided an extra good feel to the creatures. The jellyfish on the ceiling had a small fan blowing against them providing them sense of movement. The detailing in the creatures was good as well. The outdoor section was just as good. As you walked through the gates there was the sound of a dockyard with boat bells ringing and the sound of strong winds. The use of mist around the creatures was really good and did some what hide any supports required for the creatures. The movement on them was really good, particularly the small movements, such as eye, tentacle or fin. Some movements were particularly smooth, particularly noticed with the fin movement on the manta ray on the hill. Be sure to walk along all paths in the outdoor area, as there are a couple of more hidden creatures that you can't see from the main pathway. The great white shark next to the lighthouse I didn't feel like it fitted correctly. It might have been the angle of it or that it was higher up, but I think it should have been put in another position. Despite some creatures being in garden beds, they did use green/blue bark to try and blend it better, and the mist also helped with creating a better feel. The creatures that were controllable did allow you to nearly have control of all parts of their bodies. It was also good how close you could get up to some of the creatures as well. There was a decking section that went right up to the blue whale. I think I nice touch would have been if the whales had water spray out of their blow holes. I did think that the dirt and gravel behind the large whales could have had some large trees planted to provide a better background. Overall I thought it was a good addition to the park. In my opinion I ink that this will be at the park longer than dinosaur island was, because it fits better and they have gone to a lot of effort in modifying and extending paths for the attraction.
  13. As I said, gold coast theme park fb page said that the creatures do move, with some being controllable. They also said there are sound effects and lighting effects in the inside part. No it hasn't been updated. Last update was April 9
  14. They posted saying that it features movable creatures, with some being controllable. I'll be heading down tomorrow to check it out.
  15. Gold Coast Theme Parks posted a number of photos of the attraction today. Here are a few of us them:
  16. I personally don't agree with any of that. The only idea I sort of agree with is using the show stage (red) for a western show (fit the theme of the area). And maybe make use of the second of the building (green) which as far as I'm aware isn't being used. They aren't going to relocate the batwing and I'm not a fan of simulator rides, so I don't think that would be an addition. The park currently has a good variation in roller coasters, with a mild mouse (Scooby-doo) being included. For a park of MWs size, I definitely don't think they need another wild mouse, right next to a mild mouse. I like the idea of the mad max theme. But I feel that should be on the land to the right of the WWF. I think a flat ride would be suitable in the first space of WWF amongst those small buildings (couldn't suggest any ideas though, just a thought).
  17. Yes. I completely agree with this. And even if they didn't move Red Line, they could make these changes (But best case scenario was if they did move it). If the ride does get an upgrade, they should defiantly make the entrance i lot move noticeable, rather than it being tucked away in the corner.
  18. It seems like a good day at MW. As mentioned in the MW 2015 forum, all effects were working on SE and JL
  19. I think they way the explosion occurs is fine, but it's not that obvious. You see the hem pump tilt and a bit of fire occur, but the most people are concentrating on the cars, so cars cross the line and then suddenly there is an explosion. If they detailed the explosion, or made the fuel pump tilt's fire bigger then that would be good. That at police officer from polic academy is exactly what I was thinking, but maybe if they had a megaphone, the they could control the people to their seats better as well as making funny comments when the camera is on them
  20. Saw the show this morning. Overall I was reasonably impressed with it all. It is a definite improvement from what was there. But I don't think it was quite as good as the original HWSD. The interaction with the crowd was great. Before the show started they had some of the cameras going over the crowd. They even had a kiss cam going a few times. I think it would be good if they had one of the police officers who are in the show, are within the crowd, keeping them entertained even more. Daffy also made an appearance in the crowd. The set was also a good improvent, but still isn't perfect. The explosion timing was also not perfect.
  21. Went to MW this morning and I noticed a few good things. The water on SE is working again, and just before the launch the blue circle that goes across the wall is working and the audio is louder now. On JL there was a bit more smoke than usual and the sound effects were louder.
  22. The fountain is looking really good now. Great to hear the thunder effects are back. And the ABC world is also looking good. Thumbs up to DW
  23. The sneak peaks of the inside area are very promising. The image of the jellyfish hanging from the sealing with the lighting, I think looks really good.
  24. Well at least that sort of makes more sense than the previous version
