  1. For those who have seen the show, what are your thoughts and how does it compare to previous shows/holiday entertainment the park has had? @Gold Coast Amusement Force posted this video of the exterior, pre-show entertainment and other activities within the building
  2. There are at least 6 shipping containers on site for Leviathan, plenty of machinery and the small building I’ve posted about before seems to be a more permanent site office/work space for the project
  3. To make way for The Reef, an expansion of the existing Castaway. And it has proven to be much more popular than the original water park. What was left of the water park was outdated and didn’t suit a theme park.
  4. I thought it was a great series and really gave a good insight into their thought process and why certain decisions/directions were made. Having been to Disneyland Paris, it was great to see how that park developed and their high level of attention to detail
  5. Well the website says it’s opening this Summer. From what I saw when I was there last week, that won’t be happening. April is definitely a more realistic time frame
  6. I’ve also heard from staff that the park is very popular with plenty of guests and the feedback has been mostly positive, especially as it gives consistent updates on ride wait times
  7. But when I went yesterday the entire Intencity building was closed
  8. Just been past the park and cones have been put out on the overflow carpark
  9. I went on Scooby this morning to check out these new lighting effects. Wow. They are very good. Best I’ve seen them in years. No smoke, but the lighting makes up for it. And the box at the turntable has been adjusted so it is only on while a car is turning, so that you don’t see this bright box the entire ride. I also did notice some new theming elements, particularly around the swinging axes and at the evil laugh guy. The still very poor screens were timed right, but the graphics still really really let it down. The screen before the lift should just not be there. And the screens in the lift I found myself not being able to look at them because they really threw my balance off as the timing was all out. Awesome work MW with the disco room, but the ghost train part still needs some work. On another note, the whole mystery inc gang is back in the park. For a couple years now it’s just been Scooby and Shaggy, but today I saw them all
  10. I would say that there were already some initial plans for these attractions well before Greg came along
  11. @Brad2912 this is exactly what I was referring to a couple weeks ago in the discussion about MW in the summer. Within WWF there is rubbish everywhere every single day because people are pigs and there is only one bin at the end of the queue
  12. A new delivery/site entry gate for the construction of New Atlantis has been added along Sea World Drive
  13. So it’s been a massive decade for Australian theme parks, with some of the smaller parks around the country really showing that it isn’t just the Gold Coast parks that can have some awesome rides. Focusing on the Gold Coast though, there have definitely been some major highs and all time lows. The industry was beaten down a few times and there were some incidents that were major wake ups. Just want to get peoples thoughts on what they think our parks have done right and where they are still missing the park? What have been some good turn around points? What decisions did managements make that make you think, why? But also you wish to congratulate them on. Here’s a quick list of what new attractions have opened this decade: 2010 - Wet ’n’ Wild: Aqualoop and Flowrider - Sea World: Castaway Bay - WWW: Wedgie 2011 - Dreamworld: Shockwave and BuzzSaw, - Movie World: Green Lantern Coaster. 2012 - Movie World: Justice League - Wet ’n’ Wild: Constrictor - Dreamworld: DreamWorks Experience 2013 - Sea World: Storm Coaster 2014 - Dreamworld: Tailspin - WWW: Triple Vortex 2015 - Dreamworld: ABC Kids World - Sea World: Nickelodeon Land 2016 - Movie World: Super-Villains Unleashed - Dreamworld: Tiger Island 2017 - Movie World: DC Rivals Hypercoaster 2018 - Movie World: WB Studio Showcase 2019 - Dreamworld: SkyVoyager - WWW: Fully 6
  14. Hopefully it is because Greg realised how ridiculous those boats were and new ones have been ordered
  15. @Brad2912 I think he’s referring to the second train rebuild for SE (hence why they only have one train running). That train is used by Intamin in their latest coasters
  16. I went past the park at 3pm today and the carpark was 95% full. Fully 6 had a queue going 3/4 way down the tower
  17. It was the Superman logo being projected onto the wall
  18. I don’t want to see the ride close, but based off the parks recent closures and it being the last ride that was built in-park, I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. They installed a horrible roof and it has been closed for several months now with very little visible work happening. I would hope that they would replace it with another familiar attraction of some form. Maybe another boat ride that is just a shallow river that goes through a gold rush town with scenes, etc
  19. I’ve been into Jellies many times and for some reason, there did seem to be less lighting than usual. And it isn’t an over reaction in any way, I was in there for 5 minutes and watched 2 instances of people walking into each other and 1 person trip over a pram as someone turned around
  20. I also overheard months ago park executives doing a tour in the park and saying that the Vikings castle will eventually be demolished. That could be years down the track, but there has been talk about it
  21. We went to Sea World yesterday and it probably the first time I’ve ever been to the park during the busy Summer holidays. We went in knowing how busy it would be, but just thought I’d share some comments on how they handle it and what the park had extra to offer. With Carnivale about to begin, there were already some food stalls out for the event, which they were making good use of. They added an extra unique option of food and drinks that the park don’t already have. There were also some candy stalls and a Boost truck along the path to Castaway Bay. The extra queue footprint the park has added for Storm and JR was a great decision and was definitely needed. There were extra show times, which were full every time. The park has stated they aren’t happy with the lighting within Sea Jellies and yesterday showed how much of an issue the lack of lighting was. While it makes the jellies visually amazing, people were walking into each other and tripping over prams. People were turning on their phone lights to be able to see because it was so dark in there. The main issues the park has during the busy period is the parking and entrance. The overflow grassed area was in use, but I definitely think there is a need for traffic control out here because it turns out people are very incompetent when there are no line markings, cones or people to direct. There was some order at the front, but then people would leave massive gaps, park in front of people so they couldn’t get out and by the time we left at early afternoon, it was single lane to get in an out which proved to be a challenge. This is not necessarily the parks fault but I think they could implement ways to fix this. Also, with them constructing the new helicopter centre, there is no turn around point for cars at the end of each row, which caused issues. At the entrance, they were making use of the pass holder entry and had set up a queue rails for the large crowds (well done SW), but because they insist on getting your photo, it made the process very slow. And they ended up closing this entry at 11, which made the main entry very long and unorganised because of their camera/photo set up. Overall it was a good morning at the park, even with the massive crowds. The park definitely do some good things, but there are some areas to improve on to make the guest experience even better
  22. Is it similar reasoning why Storm never got its fire effects?
