Movie World April Update
themagician replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If by that you mean it’s quiet, it’s currently quite the opposite at DW, another reasonably busy day considering the weather -
Everywhere I’ve looked, as soon as Wipeout was announced ‘no more’ they removed Big 9 references

Nearly every ride has a wait time between 30-60 minutes, great to see the park having queues like this again. And it’s great to see they are making use of the big white side of the SV building for projections and laser effects -
Yeah you are, it was a fantastic ride. Yes it wasn’t doing as well in its final years, but when it was running at full capacity and it did all its tricks and flips... amazing. I unfortunately didn’t first ride it until around 2014, soon after it’s major refurbishment but I would’ve loved to have ridden it in its early years. Such a shame to see it ago, but in reality it would’ve cost millions more to rebuild it from scratch it get it properly running at normal again

Dodgems will be closed for an extended period of time this year which most likely means that we will see a FN maze back here again

Press Release Sea World to launch new Thunder Lake Stunt Show
themagician replied to Parkz News's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I watched the show this afternoon, and surprisingly I actually didn’t mind it. It is far from perfect, but I must say all the water stunts were very impressive and good to see them mixing it up and incorporating newer technologies into all. The story line is okay, never overly been a fan of shows where it’s one team vs another, but it’s much better than how HSD2 handles it. While the comedy of the script is corny, there were some laugh out loud moments. The BMX stunts didn’t really add anything extra to the show and the positioning meant you couldn’t see it in full, unless you were up the top. It is a shame the island set wasn’t utilised more with the show. It’s good it’s there to add some theming to everything, but a stunt through one of the doors would’ve added to it. The dance at the end definitely didn’t suit the shows style at all and is a bit unnecessary, I would’ve preferred all the stunt team being in the water performing a heap of stunts to end with a spectacular end. I think it is enjoyable and worth checking out, definite improvement from the last few shows, but still not on par or better than the Water Ski Wipeout era -
USS - Expansion Minions and Nintendo

I was there early December and it definitely wasn’t there -
USS - Expansion Minions and Nintendo

Yep, the plane is still incorporated into the story and all the effects and sounds play, but the plane itself no longer flies through the wall or crashes into the bank. Where the plane would smash through has been boarded up and it’s very obvious because it doesn’t match any other parts of the rustic metal look of the show -
USS - Expansion Minions and Nintendo

I’ve been to the park multiple times, and Madagascar is definitely the weakest area of the park, the attractions are poor and doesn’t add anything to the park. Minions are so popular in the shops throughout the park, so look forward to seeing that come to life. I can see the Nintendo Land replacing Water World as that area of the park is quite expansive. The show was already beginning to loose elements such as the iconic plane scene when I was there late last year. -

That pirate ship show, Pirates Unleashed didn’t really last that long and didn’t make good use of the lake. The island wasn’t used at all, with the ship quite close to the shore -
Piss off SW, you aren’t a car sales yard. And don’t try distract visitors from the land clearing with this crap. STOP.

Theme Park Merchandise
themagician replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
DW definitely go over the top with some of their styles for shirts, etc. It was a lot less bold and captured the park in other ways, I’d be a lot more willing to buy it MW merch is pretty good, but has a lot of repeats throughout the park -
They posted a countdown on the rides website for a few hours, possibly a day, but then took it down soon after
