  1. That's Castaway Bay, a great themed area of the park. The track is the Battle Boats, and those structures are the Sky Fortress and Sky Climb. Been open since 2010 http://www.parkz.com.au/search/photos/location/ride-1439-Battle_Boats
  2. But they haven't said at this stage about removing the Eureka and chairlift station. I was told by a friend who used to work at the park, and she said that the Eureka Mountain has been tested in the past and does have asbestos, and they did at one stage look into removing the whole mountain, but after consulting with specialists, they said that the whole park would need to be closed for a couple of days while they removed it. And then the surrounding areas of the mountain would be inaccessible for some time while they removed the rest of the mountain. Hence why it has never been removed.
  3. Well technically it will be in the superhero Precinct of the park, if the access to the ride is via the path in front of Batwing and JL
  4. Sorry, I meant 3hrs for single queue. 4.5hrs for normal queue. The ride had only been open for about a week when I visited.
  5. The Flying Dinosaur had 4 trains, and they were all operating on my visit. And lucky the were because the normal queue was 3hrs, thankfully I had a fast pass, but still had a 15 minute wait. But in regards to the 4 train operation, they had 2 stations which always would have 2 trains in. While they are being loaded/unloaded one train would be on the track, while the fourth one would be waiting to enter the station until one was dispatched. The speed of loading and moving trains out was crazy fast, and worked really well.
  6. I don't think 2017 will be the year for new attractions at DW, but more getting things back on track. After the incident it could take some time to get back to the way it was in regards to the amount of people visiting the park. And the park may struggle finically because of it. But these are just quick thoughts at this stage as we don't know how much it has effected the park, until the Summer holiday crowds appear. And also the LEGO Store and Stage 2 of Tiger Island need to be completed, so they may have been put on hold while things are sorted out. Or they may push hard to get them complete in time for the holidays to try and attract the crowds.
  7. I don't think every 1-2 year would be finically possible. The first one went from Dec 2008 to Feb 2014. And then the current one went for 2 years before changes were made due to ththe motor bike accident. But I'm glad they got rid of the bikes because those ramps looked so crap and didn't match anything else.
  8. I think they need to fully redevelop the whole set and start from fresh. They could probably keep all the structural elements, as that's where the major costs are, but change the cosmetics of the set so it makes sense, so that your not watching a trailer for a Australian race in a American/Italian town. I really enjoyed the original HWSD, all it needed was some comedic elements and it would've been great. But PASS was just on a whole new level and greatness. I hope in the next two years MW change the stunt show completely, and not have a HSD3. Cars doing stunts is fine, and I really enjoy them at times. But there needs to be a proper story, and bring back some stunt men to really add to the show. And none of this, let's make a movie trailer, and have people come down and do some scenes while everyone just sits there, and then let's watch the trailer at the end while everyone again sits there awkwardly.
  9. I was lucky enough to visit Universals Studios Japan earlier this year, and got to ride the Flying Dinosaur, which was unlike any roller coaster I've ever been. The experience it gave was unreal. And that is what I really hope this new coaster does. I want to ride a coaster that is unlike anything I've been on, and if this coaster delivers that then I'll be very impressed
  10. But they do get off the floats and interact with everyone.
  11. Billabong Restraunt is pretty nice and reasonably priced, so if you want a feast it's worth it. And Corroboree is still the animal exhibits, with a couple of shows. The VR is just an extra experience you could
  12. @Gold Coast Amusement Force It is short for the 'Theme Park Social Network' Facebook page.
  13. The refurbed toilets down Main St are now open, while the ones next the enterancr are closed for their refurbishment (Photo TPSN)
  14. The Christmas Tree is starting to be constructed (Photo TPSN)
  15. I really do hope that they don't remove the ride. Come Christmas the queues for the kids rides, JR and Storm would be beyond crazy. Maybe as they started the maintenance they came across an issue and are waiting for new parts, and aren't sure how long it will be before they arrive. If they are removing it, then hopefully they would remove the Castle and can't install a new ride in that area.
  16. I can't see them painting those things black, when they've been installed. Surely when they would be made black during production of them.
  17. I was just surprised because it was supposed to be reopening today, but only just yesterday was the website updated and the date changed to add another 2 weeks
  18. I was surprised when I saw there were only 6 nights this year. Last year there was 12 nights. But they do usually add some extra Nights towards the beginning or during the event.
  19. DD and he villains area is now closed for maintenance until Novermber 19.
  20. This years event is on December 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18. Redemption tickets available now, admission tickets avaibke Monday. All the usual things, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there will be a Fairy Garden this year, which I can't remember from previous years. Rides include SE, Batwing, DD, SDSC, JL and the kids area.
  21. Just passed MW and there is currently concrete being poured for footings in the corner next to GL
  22. For me: Best Maze for scares: Wyrmwood Best indivual set: C2 These 2 were the stand out mazes for me this year. I got non stop scares in Wyrmwood, and there were extra minor elements that I don't remember from last year that really added to it and improved it. The detailing in the sets, and movement in the kitchen was great. F13 was good, but felt shorter which took away some of the great parts of the Maze last year, like that long tunnel. And for me when I did FDTD on the second night the actors weren't really scaring, just more staring at you, but the sets did look great. But from what people have said, it had improved, which is great to hear.
  23. Obviously this had major effected the park, but I don't think we will no the full effect it has had until the park reopens, and the summer holidays arrive. I'd like to think that a lot of locals will show their support to the park, which I will be. But until the usual January madness at the park arrives, I think that will give the true indication have much this incident has effected the park.
