  1. It's still crazy to me that if you live on the Gold Coast with this deal you can get Season Passes to both major Providers, 5 total Theme Parks for $169. Here in Sydney I'm contemplating paying $199 for a Luna Park annual pass...
  2. Both of these are dreadful. Both parks have the ability to sell these types of things in themed storefronts/food outlets but instead bring in an external company to do so, completely throwing what small iotas of Immersion our Parks entrance areas had left.
  3. I think the reason people are getting confused is that the promotion run by Destination Gold Coast is literally called "Gold Coasters' Play Money" but Dreamworld also has a completely unconnected ride called The Gold Coaster they're using as the main promotional image for the campaign. The terms may have been updated but for me they say "Local Annual Passes for Play Money Rewards applies to Gold Coast residents only" before any talk of QLD residency. I don't think it's fair to get mad at Dreamworld for this promotion their post about it starts with "Gold Coasters, it's time to grab yourself a Dreamworld's Locals Annual Pass for only $50".
  4. Looks like the park is tentatively reopening on the 23rd of October, day tickets have just become available today for that date, where yesterday the tickets just said "coming soon". Appears to be only open for 5 hour sessions, with the first few weekends expected to have a day session 11am-4pm and then a night session for Halloscream.
  5. It's a real shame upkeep is impossible in QLD because of their weather
  6. Knowing some people behind the scenes they're currently still planning for Halloscream to open on the 22nd of October, scare actor applications closed today. Woudn't be surprised if that's also the day they plan on opening the park to fully vaccinated guests or at least that weekend.
  7. The mock up has people under the coaster but the backstage area is still gated off. The stairs from Glen St to Maloney's Corner were meant to reopen around the middle of this year according to the sign on them which would suggest the walking under the coaster part is true (Though the stair reopening won't happen while the park is hard gated like it more than likely will be upon reopening). While it would be good to make the park more open and connected, I doubt they would want to lose some of the little backstage area they have.
  8. It currently has a Vekoma train but the ride is Arrow. It's one of the final few Arrow Custom Loopers built.
  9. There's plenty of older custom Arrow Loopers out there still operating in the world. Whilst it is the only one that has ever been relocated it would be a shame to lose a piece of history, the fact they've done a couple of big refurbs in recent years shows the park thinks it has a good amount of life left in it.
  10. In theory yes, but all businesses in NSW pretty much count everything when figuring out capcaity limits. I've seen tiny shoe stores with 20 people allowed inside which can only be so if they're counting back of house areas. The Governments rules are just length x width which is what I based my calculations off
  11. A quick rought Google Maps measure of the parks guest accessible spaces shows they could have up to the 5,000 guests limit and still have more than 4 square meters per guest. Of course I don't think they would want to/ should be trying to get anywhere near those numbers when all those guests are going to be cramped in queues not evenly spread throughout. Would love to see a small ticketed reopening of the park with 1,000 guests per day but my guess is they will bring back sessions like they had last year, with a couple of ~4 hours sessions a day.
  12. Re-watching the POV now it's available in higher resolutions on In The Loop and it's not as bad as I remember it being when I watched on GCB. There's still some Janky moments but I'd also lean towards it being slightly better than Rivals official POV with even the top comment on that video pointing out how smooth the ride is compared to the POV. Neither of them are spectacular though and I'm just talking about footage quality and watchability here. Let's hope this is just a first-run POV and they bring out something more for the official launch oopening everything is fully completed.
  13. That New Years Eve party only had around 3,000 guests... I don't wanna see the park if they cram in 5,000...
  14. Someone left Hypersmooth or something on in the GoPro and it was not a fan of some of those transitions...
  15. Gee I can't wait to ride the 100kph launched, 4 inversions family coaster! /s It's hard to say this ride isn't for Thrill Seekers with the stats it has. In Europa Park Blue Fire has the second highest height limit of their twelve coasters. If "Air-time" is the only metric that apparently matters, I guess Batwing is one of the best flat rides out there!
  16. Yep to preorder it works out ~$10 to rent and ~$16 to buy in AUD. Twitter was having a meltdown the other day about it costing money rather than being free on YouTube as before the trailer launched it hadn't been mentioned as anything other than a YouTube video. With expected ad revenue in the Niche if he can get 1 in 1,000 people who would watch to instead buy he will come out around even compared to a YouTube upload, anything more will be more than he would expect to make on YouTube. The budget would have been much higher for this than a regular YouTube video so it makes sense. While I don't usually watch Coaster Studios videos this one looks to be a great watch and at least is actually available in Aus unlike closed for Storm...
  17. I still feel if you got a wide range of guests to ride both of these on the exact same cycle and pick their favourite attraction of the two, the results wouldn't be close to 50/50. Just because someone doesn't scream to the rooftops about the quality of theming doesn't mean they don't at least subconciously appreciate it and leads to them having a better day/spending more money. Let's also not forget these two are in a park that sees similar attendance figures a year to Movie World, it's not just the big boys doing incredible immersive experiences like this
  18. The attitude of "Well you should know what they said won't be real!" is the reason our Parks get away with promising the World and then never delivering on it. To say the public don't care or think about whether an area is immersively themed is a huge assumption that I don't believe is true. When you talk to people who've been lucky enough to travel to some true immersively themed parks in the World you hear as much talk about the feel of being immersed in another place or location as you do about the rides themselves. Shifting the goal posts for the Australian parks is what has let them get away with lacklustre additions/operations and more for years.
  19. Trident and Leviathan are still meant to open "This Summer" according to their website. I was honestly expecting VRTP to find out the date of Taipan's opening and go "OH by the way everyone, Leviathan and the rest of New Atlantis opens up the day before!" but a completion of the land (I'm not calling it a precinct!) before next year is looking more and more unlikely by the day.
  20. Yep exactly what Dapto is saying, Steel Taipan needs to be the beggining of a new chapter for Dreamworld and they should be advertising and thinking about it as such. Issue is they seem to be thinking this will be the magical fix all for the park and be an acceptable replacement to the countless lost attractions over the past few years. They need to do a Hong Kong Disneyland and as they prepare the opening for their brand new ride they also announce the next big park expansion plans for the next few years to show they actually have plans past this one ride that while impressive can't hold up an entire park.
  21. I was at the parks a similar time in 2020, the last week of NSW School Holidays and they were relatively quiet. It might be different this year of course if NSW is even allowed in as they've been blocked out for a while but it should definetely be quieter than when both States are on School Holidays.
  22. Seems to be pretty well seperated on the website of the Manufacturer but sure, even though S&S literally refers to them as "Inspired by" rather than being part of the same family. http://s-s.com/ride-categories/thrill-rides/
  23. You know that "S&S 4th dimension coaster" is literally the model name of the ride you're apparently not refering too @New display name
  24. You're the one who suggested a 4th Dimension coaster so clearly you think it would If Dreamworld were able to move the bus loop and extend into the old Big Brother land the could come close to fitting one in if they wanted to (Which they wouldnt)
