  1. I was just thinking that since it was so close to construction that it would be closed; but at the same time, my logic in thinking that is very stupid, especially when considering revenues
  2. It just seems a little counter productive, when you have this all new area, but as a guest you have to venture out of the area to visit the cubs (that many are likely visiting for) but I hope that magician is right in saying that they will construct it when it's needed; because they definitely have the space for a decent enclosure. As for Cub Kindy, it is great while TI is closed, but it doesn't fit in with Ocean Parade when TI is open. Because then it's like the motorsports rides, we have Bikes over in this part, but there is also the dedicated Motorsports Experience on the other side of the park.
  3. Another photo of the same, just from further away. I'm really surprised Kodak is still open during all of this construction. and with the building gone you can see straight through to WhiteWater World.
  4. Ahh, thought so! Thank you --- Alright; so, here's my update for the week. [Sunday 28/08] Note: This week photos are 1024x768; higher resolution available upon request Tiger Island Update: Rockwork-work is well underway... except the photo is upside down even though it's the correct orientation on my device. When I said construction hadn't started on the Sumatran enclosure, it could be for good reason. There is a high chance this enclosure isn't even being built. I have no confirmation from tiger island staff, but an inside source is still a source. (But I doubt that they're not going to build a cub enclosure, so I'm a little torn on the information I was given.) Railings have been installed. Some detailing has been added as shown by the photo below. The photo I shared last week of the façade work. The shop façade (facing towards the actual island) has started construction, however, because there were many people I couldn't get a shot of it for you all. General Update: @AlexB Is this what you were referring to? Looks like the storage track that the pod would've been sitting on in storage. (As for where it came from, could've been made in house, or used to ship the ToT cart over 6 years ago) More bits and pieces have come and gone, the most movement I've seen in the graveyard in the past 21 weeks that I've been visiting the parks. - but here is another photo of the pod which appears to have been slightly moved over since last week. Giant Drop East was off this week, and no progress on the entry. Tree Kangaroo Enclosures should be open within the next two weeks. (Based on estimates, basically just cleaning to go) Apart from the ground ^ - This enclosure appears to be complete. The enclosure below has a little bit more work to be done. I don't understand why they painted parts of this blue. Its ugly and it stands out. and just like last week, Here is a photo of an unused F&B outlet (It's probably open during Christmas/Summer - but I don't think it was open for the latest holiday periods).
  5. Update for Sunday 21st. (and I know, that's ages ago now but I haven't had a chance to upload these photos) Just a note; all photos have been resized to 640x480. I can upload higher resolution photos if requested. Tiger Island Update: Mesh is up ready for the rockwork at the area entrance; otherwise nothing notable (that I noticed at least). According to the map posted in Tiger Cub Kindy the area directly in view of the below photo will be the new Tiger Cub Kindy and Sumatran Viewing Enclosure; however, nothing has been done for either of these two enclosures yet, and there's less than a month before the September school holidays. We also have our first view of the façade of the new F&B outlet, which according to the Ardent FY Report, will feature chinese oriented cuisine. Also, I hope they do something to blend these buildings in with the surroundings, such as a Kung-Fu Panda related façade on this building; General Update: Tower of Terror car is in the Graveyard, and Reef Diver has disappeared - doubt it's gone into storage now, after sitting there for two years. Pieces of SpongeBob FlyPants theming has appeared along with other items that look familiar but I just can't seem to work out what they were from. (and there's the Dora Explorer Sea Planes top piece) Below is the aforementioned FlyPants theming, and the other items I don't recognise. Below is the shrimp/prawn that used to be located on the GameSite building at the entrance to Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness; but there are no plans for this arcade to disappear, so don't get too excited. As I mentioned in the Ardent FY Thread, Motocoaster's second train has been gone for about three weeks (at least). ...and the Motocoaster Test Seat was removed a few weeks ago as well. (After someone mentioned that was the only thing the ride was doing correctly) It's a stretch but could this have anything to with VR? Motocoaster theming is still just as faded and ugly as ever. I hope this all gets updated and replaced soon. Giant Drop entry is getting some love; while Giant Drop West (?) was no where to be seen. While in other news the Tree Kangaroo enclosure re-build in the Aviary is almost complete. Tower of Terror broke down; and Motocoaster was 'testing' at the same time which allowed me to get the photos below. and does anyone know what this building was used for, and if it has any use now? (It's the building located behind Tiger Cub Kindy, next to Tail Spin and GameSite)
  6. Yeah, I know, but it is usually on the transfer track... and it hasn't been.
  7. MDMC seems likely. The second train hasn't been visible for at least 3 weeks now (Not on circuit or transfer tracks); it could be for unrelated reasons, but it's convenient.
  8. Plans have been submitted to the Whittlesea Council... and it's a Proslide TornadoWAVE. Source (Pages 135-145): https://www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/~/media/Files/Your Council/Council Meetings/2016-07-19-agenda.pdf
  9. I wasn't very consistent with my wording, but when I said Disney Parks I was meant to just say Walt Disney World in particular. But @westical is right, it's not that simple. But you are technically right as Universal can use any Marvel character (I believe); but: As I said in my previous post, as the Guardians of the Galaxy will be starring in an Avengers movie, their use in Walt Disney World will no longer be acceptable as per the agreement. (as of the films release date: 04/05/2018)
  10. The license allows (Disney to build) attractions for characters that aren't associated with those in use at Universal. (In this case; The Avengers and X-men) If Disney were to build an attraction with any character in use at Universal/involved with one of either the Avengers or X-Men; then Disney is in breach of the contract. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be in Avengers Infinity War, and means Disney will be unable to use them in the WDW parks. Therefore, unless a contract/license buyout occurs (or whatever is needed for Disney to be able to create these attractions), Guardians of the Galaxy will be unable to appear in WDW parks as of the release of Avengers Infinity War. (May 4, 2018) - Which means Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios is safe. (for now) ...and that Disney can use the characters for whatever they want up until that date. This is just my interpretation, and, may be (and is most likely) incorrect.
  11. @Jobe It will actually be open before or on June 1st next year. So you'll definitely be able to visit! Quote from: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/universal-orlando/os-ipw-universal-volcano-bay-20160621-story.html
  12. Thanks for that, at least someone here has solid info! Was just repeating what I was told. As far as I know he walks everyday, it was just a one-time thing where he had "other commitments." - I probably should've mentioned that in my original post! haha
  13. ToT closed today and will be tomorrow as well. (Info courtesy of Senior Ride Staff) Tower of Terror is closed due to a mechanical fault and not due to high winds as @Brad2912 suggested. Unfortunately the maintenance team don't even know what the issue is, so they've just been altering things (not sure what, but just going off what I was told) in an attempt to find and fix the problem. Personally, I don't think the ride will even operate (a full day) for the next week. Oh and that sign was changed less than a week after @reanimated35 mentioned it on the boards here a few months ago; so, good job noticing it @The_Ninja_59! - and yeah, that fence has always been there. As for today; SideWinder was closed until around 10:45; MotoCoaster had a few issues early in the morning, ToT II was closed all day, Wipeout had a few smaller issues and BuzzSaw has two seats not-operating. (10 people per cycle, one full queue row is a 30 minute wait) - Kai was not out for his walk, but Adira took his place, and Akasha walked from about 2:45 to about 3:10.
  14. Taken today while on the Dreamworld Express; the structure appears to be completed.
  15. Regarding Sharknado, I already covered most of it in the post I created; but filming for season two would've been done sometime in late 2015, personally, I think it wouldn't make sense to film the episodes 5 to 6 months after applications closed, especially since we're talking the second season of a fairly popular tv show. Anyway, the contract; ZE opened in September 2013, in the episode Lynton says that the contract has been 'running' for two years, (2015) and extended for an additional year, ending the contract September 2016 (or so, however, I'd say, like I did in the topic, that the attraction will close after the final Screamworld event for the year. (November 19)) - With SA (Sharknado Alive) opening in late March, ready for the 2017 April School Holidays. And for those who haven't seen the topic; it's here - Sharknado! Alive - Shark Tank proposal coming to Dreamworld
  16. Lots of uhh, third party substances in the water at Wipeout today... not closed because of maintenance, just for cleaning... (I'm sure you can join the dots...) The water was green and disgusting by around 4:45pm. I didn't get any photos of it because uhh, why would you want to see it. Tiger Island Plans have been posted over by the old Thunderbolt exit. (Near one of the two DWF donation boxes) There is the entire posted plan... (Includes currently existing back of house and tiger experience areas) Main Entry to Tiger Island will be through the current 'Lair' area; and new Shopping Outlet. Once you've walked in, to the left will be a new toilet block and small F&B outlet (Which I'm sure will be much like the Bengal Teahouse before it) - you then progress into the new tiered seating area, and events space, which is covered. The new 'Tiger Cub Kindy' enclosure looks to be where the nursery used to be. Other 'closer' photos aren't uploading at all. :/
  17. Here are two pictures of the Rapids Ride from today. On a smaller note; there seems to be some changes that are being made to one of the enclosures that usually house a Cassowary. Dora Explorer Sea Plane globe is now among the other old parts found in the Dreamworld Graveyard - aka. old Thunderbolt footprint (no photos unfortunately) Just as a note; the Sea Plane globe has been there for a few weeks, I have just been too lazy to photograph it. But to make up for that here is a shot of the Baldwin. Also, this is the last time Stormtroopers Weekend will be running according to the Dreamworld Facebook page, so to those who are going tomorrow, I hope you enjoy it!
  18. I assume the episode would've been filmed late last year, therefore the third year would be this year. Considering the attraction was opened in 2013, 2 years of the contract would've ended it late last year
  19. If any of you saw the episode of Shark Tank last night on channel 10, you would've seen Lynton V. Harris propose his latest interactive attraction, Sharknado Alive! For anyone who doesn't know, Lynton is the owner of the Sudden Impact! Entertainment Company, which has created various attractions & scare mazes for theme parks and other establishments across Australia and the United States, including the AVPX and Zombie Evilution attractions for Dreamworld. If you want to watch the attraction proposal, skip to 33:15 - http://tenplay.com.au/channel-ten/shark-tank/season-2/episode-1 There weren't many details released about the attraction itself, apart from this one concept image. TL/DR - I'm 99% certain that this Sharknado attraction will be replacing Zombie Evilution in 2017. So why do I think this is coming to Dreamworld? Since Laser Tag has been "retired," and now that Zombie Evilution only operates as a scare maze for special events, the attraction's closure is imminent. It wouldn't make sense to stop operating the scare maze before the final screamworld event (19th November) - so I believe that the scare maze will cease operation after the Screamworld event on the 19th of November, in preparation for it's transformation into Sharknado Alive! ready for the 2017 April holidays period. It took 166 days (31st March - 12th September) for the conversion from AVPX to Zombie Evilution, however, as it's highly unlikely that laser tag will return (and all of the technical side related to that), the conversion from Zombie Evilution to Sharknado shouldn't take as long. Assuming that the attraction's final night of operation is the 19th of November, this gives the park 133 days before the April school holidays, commencing April 1st 2017, to convert the attraction. To further back this up, in an email I received previously, Dreamworld has said: While this leaves room for doubt, the Sharknado theme actually fits into the Ocean Parade area (unlike the previous attractions [Aliens, Predators and Zombies]) - the infrastructure is already there for the attraction to be installed, and Dreamworld already has an ongoing relationship with the Sudden Impact company, I don't see why this wouldn't happen, but I can understand any doubt there may be. I'd love to hear what you all think of this
  20. Nope; Dreamworld had it on their Motorsports Experience page for a little while. It was actually the real name.
  21. My favourite rides: Twisted Colossus California Screamin' Least favourite rides: MDMC
  22. It's funny, because I was just taking the piss with that comment, but oh well, I didn't label it accordingly. Either way though, the *general* public don't really seem to care about stuff like that, it's only the kind of people that are on here that would bring that stuff up. I agree that the park could have used something new, but I don't think it's necessary. Look, I acknowledge your opinion, I just find it stupid that you're making such a big deal out of it all. I personally don't think it's a big deal, it's essentially a tent. It works for it's intended purpose, and that's it and as I stated previously, unless it's 'one of those people' on here, the general person whose going to see the tigers, is going to see the tigers and not look at the marquee they are using to provide shade. Look at it this way; It's infront of Kevil Hill, so the marquee is ripped, faded and patched in order to fit into the post-apocalyptic theme. Problem Solved.
  23. I assume it's for a larger enclosure for the cubs to move into while the Tiger Island refurbishments are going on. The works inside Kevil Hill (the briefing rooms) could consist of an additional indoor enclosure for more tigers? but I'm not sure if that would make much sense. Maybe all of this is part of the Tiger Cub Kindy area that will be around, if it is indeed an area, and not another form of VIP experience. What do you mean by major works, exactly? Are you referring to Tiger Island as "this whole corner of the park," or something else, because Dreamworld has stated that Zombie Evilution will be staying as a Scare Maze for Screamworld, which means the arena is staying and not being demolished for the Tiger Island refurbishment. As a bit of proof of this; in an email sent from Dreamworld; I asked: [Note: this is all part of a much larger conversation] So uhh; consider the "Tiger Island Expansion" rumour debunked. Oh and can confirm, no one else cares about the marquees, went there on Saturday, everyone seemed to be looking at the tigers when I was looking at the marquee, couldn't work out why?
  24. Why should they have to, it's only going to be there for a month (or so). Yes, they have the money to get new ones, or to add a custom print or whatever else, but why should they? no one cares. If you're going over to that area, you're going to see the white tigers, not to look at the marquee they are using to provide shade... "Wow! The park has these new white tigers... oh wait, that marquee isn't a darker shade of blue! I'm going to complain about it!" TL/DR Don't complain because they are providing shade.
  25. Yeah; those are the same fences that have been previously photographed, Thanks for the more 'overall' shots though
