  1. They give the pre-show because otherwise the ride's story wouldn't make sense. It also makes things a bit more entertaining, and makes the whole ride experience longer then it would've been if it was just the simulator by itself.
  2. Well, he's right in one respect, and that is your dealing with guests constantly in food/ customer service, rather then dealing with heaps quickly, then just watching them go around (and around, and around and around). True the person flippin the burgers doesn't deal with guests more, but the person serving does nothing but deal with guests. They don't sit down for 2 mins watching the food being cooked (unless they aren't very good), they are constantly interacting with guests. Ops don't deal with guests as constantly, but deal with more people and get abused waaay more often.
  3. Just curious, is there a reason your profile says your only 17? Alex, I think its all relative. True food, retail and the like may deal with guests more then ops, but ops put up with more abuse then other departments (coming from someone whose worked in both food & bev and rides). People don't like being told they can't ride, and while most people understand its for safety, there are quite a few people (more then I would have suspected) who feel that the only way to respond to a safety rule they don't like is to raise their voice, and call the operator names.
  4. Yeah, if Dreamworld didn't already have the best eye candy from the highway I might agree with you there about the ferris wheel, but Cyclone, Tower of Terror, Giant Drop, Wipeout and even the Claw have kinda killed your argument there. Dreamworld is the one park that really doesn't need anymore eye candy, and could even go for something that is completly invisible from the highway. I do agree with one point though, if any park on the Gold Coast gets a woodie, I think Dreamworld would be both the most likley and best suited park to recieve one. I don't think I'd like to see it on the thunderbolt site (more towards the middle of the park/near Rocky Hollow would be a better spot IMHO)
  5. Paul didn't have to ask, but did, and since he did go the extra mile and asked, I felt it was wrong for people to be having a go at Paul without it being made aware that it was all good. For what its worth, I think a water park would be a good way to use that land. Afterall, its one area of the park where they are likley to attract complaints if its loud, and for that reason, a water park would be ideal. Thats also besides the fact that a water park is a good idea anyway.
  6. Paul has asked permission, and was cleared to post the link. Approval was given because the link was on topic, and because I got the feeling that Moviegirl wasn't aware that the ride has been scraped, so a page clairfying that is acceptable.
  7. Last I heard they were aiming at October, but subject to change as always.
  8. All the artwork is done, its just a matter of finding the exact right moment to release it all. For now, the artwork makes nice posters for the park offices
  9. Don't know if this interests you, but this is from September '99 so you might have been 8, but I suspect this may be the accident you speak of. There is also a follow up article here
  10. There were some floating around a while back, but I can't seem to find them now. Though the vids that were going around were pretty much just a black screen with a few lights coming into shot now and then, nothing to get all excited over. Best of luck with the search though, and welcome to the forums!
  11. Rightie-o. Now I'm ganna close this, so it doesn't turn into a big this site V that site sorta thing. Night all
  12. Superman is a licensed property, and there are some (if slight) issues with showing images. This is why we ask photos to be contributed. The added bonus is that it keeps things better organized, and the author gets to have their photos’ seen by more people.
  13. The Dreamworld forum has been quieter since the DW fan boys left. Nice observation!
  14. I doubt it. Most rides you can buy are sold "as is", and often need extensive work to be done to them. Just look at the parachute drop (forget what it got called when it was at Wonderland... Sky something?), that thing was/is a real write off. Its still not working on the Gold Coast, and with the amount the owners have spent on it they could've bought a new one.
  15. Those with the cash get in quick, SW is selling its current crop of Ski boats for a mere $26,000 each. First in first served as there's only 3, and come "as is" (moter, ski poles etc.).
  16. Well, he is right on one thing, the ride is all of 14meters high, so exactly how they found themselves 30meters in the are is a mystery.
  17. Whats the go with Western Sydney? You'd think the writing might be on the wall from that small snippet. Still, hopefully the worst that'll happen is it'll be re-located somewhere else. The same thing happened to Paradise Country when the previous owners wanted to sell the land.
  18. wow, I'm speechless that someone believed it. Well done.

    RCT2 Team Park

Are you still working on it Scott?
  20. I'm sad to see Double Screamer go, but I think it’s had its time. Its an old slide, and is in an unfortunate spot as it blocks in the kids area, which really needs the expansion. The other thing is user controlled rides are more dangerous then those where you have little say in where the tube/board/mat goes. You can't trust people to not injure themselves. I know of a few accidents on waterslides, and all of them come down to someone doing the wrong thing. It’s amazing how if people are told to lean forward, someone will lean backwards just too see what happens (and how much it hurts). Same with telling people to cross they're legs over (Screw that! I'm going to keep them wide apart and see why they have that rule!), people will just do stupid things. That’s why the trend is to build slides where its not as user controlled, and thus safer. I don't this is a bad thing though. Look at Terror Canyon, that thing is down right scary when it gets some speed up. I think the new thrill slides that will be introduced in the mid term should be ample replacement for Double Screamer. I do agree on one point though, the great thing about Double Screamer is it was a one or two person slide, and WnW could do with slides that a single rider (or a group of 3 for that matter) could enjoy without making someone wait or go twice.

    RCT2 Team Park

Lol, and I was going to do either a mine theme, jungle theme or beach/pirate theme.
  22. Interesting that the same people who did WWF also did Cyclone's queue. BTW, Scott, really love that sig mate
  23. Guys its not that hard to understand, if you buy your admission, then decide later in the day that you want to buy a Max Action pass, they take the days admission of the price of the pass. So you pay $60, then rather then paying $165, you pay $105, understand????
  24. To be fair, yesterday was busy everywhere, on account of the long weekend and because it was only a one off day, the parks weren't staffed for like during the holidays. We coped pretty well at SW, but it was a real hard slog yesterday getting everything moving along quickly.
