  1. Space Mountain Paris was a interesting experience. We'd ridden it just before, and found out the final brake run was vicious on the shoulders. Lethal Weapon was gentle in comparison. So I had braced ready for it, when we hit them it was "that wasn't as bad as last time" then whack into the emergency brakes, which where worse! That section was pitch black, then the music and sounds stopped in the whole ride. My brother's first comment was "well at least the other train has stopped". The lights came on fairly quickly. After about 5 minutes the we could hear staff around the train, the track was elevated so we could just see their heads. They spoke to us a little bit. They must have evacuated the other train first as it would have been up in the second lift area. He got our camera out filmed a bit of what was going on, the restraints made it difficult to get much footage. Eventually they unlocked all the brakes and the car drove slowly into the station. Our stepdad had been waiting, apparently they wouldn't tell him what was happening. Apparently it does that with some regularity. It's the only e-stop I've experienced personally, TOT has overrun once before my ride, and mislaunched a few times. Been on one ordinary launch, they drove us back and then "sorry guys, ready to go again"?
  2. Physically climb below the track and release each set of pads, maybe 8 sets at a guess. Rembering Space Mountain Paris is a completely different ride to the rest of them.
  3. Except when Space Mountain Paris. Where stuck in the emergency brakes (after the final brakes, before the station) for at least 30 minutes. It appeared each brake needed to be manually released.
  4. I assumed the brown "skids" between the tracks in the station where part of the charging system, like seen on other rides with audio. Been a while since I've ridden it, if my description is off.
  5. Most likely. The fill for the new runway at Brisbane needs to settle for about 4 years before runway and taxiway construction can start. Different loads (landing A380 vs foot traffic) but similar concepts.
  6. Illegal Street Racing is constantly called Drag Racing. Big differences between the two.
  7. My wife is claustrophobic and we went up Q1. About half way some smart ass goes "has anyone seen 'Speed". It was all I could do to stop there being a murder!
  8. Whoops, oh well, there goes an early retirement
  9. Excuse me for a moment, just off to register some trademarks and patents
  10. I'd suspect TOT throws a set amount of energy at the car and it goes as high as it goes. Perhaps that is why it "looses" the car occasionally. I thought Superman pulled until the track sensors picked up that it reached a certain speed. Using the "seat of pants o-meter", on half full trains it feel like it accelerates harder but comes off the launch car earlier. Just my observation.
  11. If you want a "pier" style to it, why not combine different carnie style games? A mash up of the little trailer mounted games from sideshow alley. Shoot ping pong balls into clowns mouths, pick (instead of catch) the fish, lucky dip (shoot at little doors that then spin to reveal a score). The more points the better the reward, like a 10% off voucher, free drink, free meal, etc
  12. Cards against Humanity - Love that game!
  13. I genuinely thought the main wheels where off too, sorry about that. Never really looked too hard underneath. Looking forward to when both loco's are operational, the Perry team has made good progress of late.
  14. Agreed. They weren't under the loco, so they are still off (the loco) for repairs.
  15. It's being given a minor overhaul to get it service for ANGRMS - Woodford Railway. There are three loco's planned for use: Melbourne, Bundy No. 5 and the Perry (Perry is the builder's name, the loco doesn't have a name) The idea is to have one operating, the second ready as a backup, a third in overhaul. Fingers crossed Perry and Melbourne will be operating by years end. The overhaul will then start on Bundy. Once completed, the Perry will go in for a major overhaul, then Melbourne etc. Future overhaul shouldn't be as major as the loco's aren't working that hard.
  16. Thanks reanimated35. On mobile so struggled with it. As you can see the dreamworld carriage is being used for storage. The railway has suitable carriages and slow restoration is ongoing on the PL111 (ex QR 3 foot 6) with eventual plans to fit air operated brakes to it.
  17. Didn't know I could, used to using photobucket
  18. As requested. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w231/rcdrags/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160403_145551.jpg Perry in the shed. The wheels are still off for repairs, the cab has been shifted back to allow the boiler to be lifted & the cow catcher is off to allow for works on the tender for the other loco to be carried out indoors. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w231/rcdrags/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160403_151456.jpg DR railway carriage. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w231/rcdrags/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160403_151524.jpg Perry "cow catcher" inside the old DR carriage. Can't get the images to work.
  19. To extend the time until the next major maintenance most likely. Remember how long it was out of service for (and the Perry is still out for). No off the shelf parts unlike the diesel.
  20. It's currently occupying the shed at the Woodford Railway under minor overhaul. Had its boiler raised slightly to repair broken stays (bars that separate the firebox & boiler to allow water to surround the firebox) about two weeks ago. Search ANGRMS on Facebook for photos, or head up Sunday for a look and a ride with the Heritage Diesel cane loco </shameless plug>
  21. I'll try to remember to get one on Sunday whilst I'm there.
  22. 7 news tonight reported that low air pressure issues where the cause, and showed footage of mechanics working on the equipment beside the final brake run. Sounds like the brakes where struggling to release.
  23. Given its 11 years old, perhaps a major service/replacement of the winch & hydraulic components is due?
  24. +1 Should be an awesome day out with "the Yank" tomorrow.
  25. Work has started, albeit slowly. There are endangered species in the creek to the north, as well as a few technical issues to overcome, like putting HV electricity cables under the highway, as Energex no longer puts new feeds over highways. Apparently people don't like them shutting the highways down during maintenance .
