  1. That looks like a very tight twist for a train that's going fast - isn't it?
  2. For sure they should refer to it as a 'Hyper' - it's a buzz word that people associate with speed. Even if they have no idea it means 200ft plus - it just sounds big and fast. "Chewy, put the Millennium Falcon into Hyperspace.... "
  3. A world first at what, boringness? Yeah, I don't really like GL, but that's another story and no need to debate But seriously what was it for, the first hill being over vertical? And yes I think the branding is important - surely they aren't building one that falls just shy of Hypercoaster status, that would be a massive "wtf?". Yes the difference between 60 and 61m would make sfa difference to the ride experience, but being able to claim Hypercoaster would be beneficial - it just sounds big and fast. And not to mention Mack being able to claim it as one of their accomplishments in design and construction.
  4. Sounds like it's towing a couple of tin cans on a string behind it. They were running two last Saturday, although for a while the second one was going around empty. Once both were going it was pretty much walk on. Also Scooby stopped for a while when I was ta the top, about half way through those horrible hard turns. Mustn't have been anything major as we were going again, very slowly as we'd lost all momentum, after a few minutes.
  5. Is Blue Lagoon that ride looking thing near the Big Bother House? Was there a water park down that end long ago - I can't really remember....
  6. You'd think they get pretty scratched up all jammed in there like that. But I guess it just looks that from the end and they probably are well wrapped protected etc.
  7. I went on it twice on Saturday and it did feel it's age. It didn't seem to accelerate the way it used to, unless I'm just used to it, and it bunny hops pretty bad coming into the station (although the second time was better). It's way to bog an attraction to simply get rid of.
  8. But I want a tunnel!!!! But seriously - I just like the change of going through a tunnel, even if it's short like SE. It heightens the feeling of speed (zooming through a small space), and changes the ambient light. But yes, we can't have it all.
  9. Yeah if there was a tunnel I would have thought that would be dug and concreted already. Which is a shame, I'd like a tunnel so hopefully I'm wrong...
  10. That must include leaving the station and snaking through the themeing? I suppose you have to include that but really the distance from launch (or top of lift hill) to brake would be better for comparison imo. AA feels longer the SE for example.
  11. Nah, I'll pass on the seminar thanks. I agree $100 isn't outrageous but for 5, expensive night out! I'll just pick a night when wifey and I can go. Kids can have baked beans and netflix.
  12. I'v never been to Australian Outback Spectacular - am I missing out? I looked at tickets a while ago and (I think, I can't exactly recall) it added to about $400 for 2 adults and three kids, so passed. I just looked $99 per adult so nearly $500 - anyway to get discounts as I wouldn't mind seeing it?
  13. Maybe I should have used the word 'vibe'. I think for a theme parks long term prospects being 'dead' is a bad thing, but I won't complain in the short term if I can walk onto rides.
  14. Dreamworld was pretty much a ghost town on Saturday. All rides were walk on, MDMC was closed for technical difficulties (not sure how long for), Buzzsaw was open before the advertised 1pm open time (I think it was around 11.30 when we went on it) and Wipeout is literally in pieces, the carriage is off and the arms disassembled- it's not going to back up and running any time soon..... It was just dead and it felt that way. Then went to MW and what a contrast. It wasn't packed (SE was pretty much walk on, reasonable wait for Scooby) but the main street had heaps of people, and it generally had a much better 'feel'. Once the new MW coaster is completed I think Dreamworld will be in a bit of trouble and will have some work to do.
  15. Sorry, your post wasn't clear but re-reading it...... I assume there shouldn't be a full stop after delay.
  16. When did I mention that you mentioned it? Like any major project there can be unexpected delay's due to lots of factors. To categorically state that it will be operating by the September school holidays would be risky. Sure that might be the plan but who knows what difficulties may arise?
  17. I don't think they could be 100% certain it will open in time for the Spet. school holidays, so advertising that it will be open is risky. Personally I don't think it will be. Major projects nearly always run over time. September school holidays is only about 5 1/2 months away....
  18. I would have thought some promotional stuff for the Easter Holidays would be beneficial so people are aware of a new ride and what it will be like, so an announcement and some in park (or outside of park) promotions. I guess you could argue that it's obvious that a new ride is going in given the car park closure and equipment... but at least you are keeping people informed rather than them speculating. Save the expensive television adds, billboards etc for when it is closer.
  19. The Elton John? Just add a few sparkly bits to the train, job done.
  20. ^ nailed it I was reasonably confident it would be Batman and they'd re-theme the glorified Ekka ride to something else. I actually like Spaceshot but it doesn't do Batman justice!
  21. What's if it's not DC themed at all? Austin Powers verse Dr Evil would be cool, if not a little dated now... Something that makes people have a laugh would be good. My Little Pony! The train has a Pony Head at the front and a Pony tail whipping around at the back. I think they have enough Super Hero/Villain stuff going on, especially if they have to resort to 2nd teir characters, which it seems they'd have to do given the current themed rides.
  22. Bizzaro Never heard of him/her. Surely they wouldn't choose something so left field that nobody knows what character it is. A long shot:
