  1. Forgive me if this is stupid question, but how can individual seats be out of commission on so many trains on so many different rides? Are these design flaws, vandalism or just neglect? It seems a bit weird, I don't ever remember this ever being a thing on rides or roller coasters back in the day late 90's, early 2000's when I visited the GC theme parks almost once a month.
  2. As far as what rides/attractions I rode the most at Dreamworld from the late 90's to the mid 00's when I lived on the Gold Coast and had a yearly pass it was the following. Rode every visit: River Rapids Log Ride Vintage Cars Chairlift Stingray Rode almost every visit: Paddlesteamer Enterprise Dreamworld Cinemas Rode every other visit: Train Gravitron Country Jamboree Only rode it a few times because I was either too young or too scared: Avalanche Thunderbolt Wipeout Tower of Terror Now that I've spent half an hour writing this list I wonder what the point of it was and maybe if it even deserves its own thread but whatever it is what it is...
  3. Thanks for the pics. When I click the link it says you must log in to Facebook to continue.
  4. Any chance of someone posting the photo in the forum thread for those of us without Facebook who can't view the link?
  5. I wouldn't even pay $15 but that's just me. People are clearly willing to pay so the parks will keep charging.
  6. End of an era, will this be the last time we see rusted corrugated iron used as theming at Dreamworld?
  7. A logo featuring even less rides than the original one, seems appropriate considering the state of the park.
  8. I agree the rake is a lot worse as far as branding goes. The WB logo is iconic, classy and harkens back to the golden age of cinema history (as well as Loony Toons) so its use as a logo doesn't feel cheap. The Village logo reminds me of renting shitty quality VHS tapes from VideoEzy, so you know nostalgic but not exactly something that screams 'quality'.
  9. I'm not criticising anything because I honestly don't care that much, it's a hotel. How its branded doesn't make a difference to me personally. Maybe it matters to some people, that's fine if it does, but for me a hotel is just a place to sleep and shower.
  10. If we do get this style of hotel on the GC, don't forget the all important company branding!
  11. As I seem to recall (could be wrong) they had a miniature train model go round on that little track on the hour.
  12. I understand why they haven't announced anything, they don't want to steal the thunder away from SeaWorld's new rides before they've even opened. Sure us enthusiasts would be happy for the news but to the average theme park goer it would be an inundation of new things and possibly dilute the excitement for Trident and Leviathan.
  13. I agree. The whole triple launch thing is weird to me, I'd never even heard of this as a thing until this coaster was announced and to a lot of people who aren't familiar with roller coasters they're going to think something is wrong with the ride seeing that it needs to go back and forth to get the speed to go over the main hill and complete the course. Hiding that all in a tunnel have been a lot cooler both in preserving the illusion of what the ride was doing and making the experience more exciting for the rider.
  14. This picture gives me "the exit of Lethal Weapon" vibes. The nostalgic part of me likes it, the part of me that appreciates good theming does not.
  15. That greeny colour is almost the colour of glow in the dark paint so maybe it'll glow in the dark? If not then that'd be a pretty easy thing to do later.
  16. Not defending Dreamworld's decision because I think the Gold Rush theme was excellent and remains pretty timeless, but I'm also okay with just a ride being themed (even if the theme is slight: the roller coaster is a snake amongst rocks, the path is its shed skin, the "bones" are of a slain enemy?) as opposed to an entire area themed to something detailed and specific. When I made theme parks in Roller Coaster Tycoon I'd more often than not have both themed areas and then specifically themed roller coasters that didn't exactly fit into any precinct but were big enough to warrant a theme. Plus there's always the chance that another ride comes in to fill Buzzsaw's footprint themed after another venomous Australian animal then they can call theme the whole precinct after a zoo (or something).
  17. Just replace one of the hammers with a sickle, paint it red and boom, instant iconic theming!
  18. The parks might as well be seasonal at this point considering how many months of the year so many of their rides are not running, this goes for Dreamworld too. I swear when I lived on the Gold Coast back in the day it never used to be this bad...
  19. Wow, I feel dumber from having read the last dozen or so posts!
  20. I'd take Leviathan over Steel Taipan any day of the week but that's because I think Wooden roller coasters are more unique nowadays. But as much as people might like to make it out to be, this isn't a contest. Assuming the parks can do the right thing by guests and enthusiasts alike all the GC theme parks will be around for a while yet.
  21. Just dunk it in Sydney Harbour, that'll make it below the height limit AND make it useful as a new habit for sea life, its pretty much all its good for anyway.
  22. One roller coaster - while very nice looking and undoubtedly sure to be a crowd-pleaser - does not significantly change Dreamworld's prospects going forward. At the risk of sounding like a pessimist, it's just a band-aid on a broken bone. They could completely "stick the landing" and have a gorgeously themed area, removed the eyesore that is Buzzsaw, have a flawless launch and glowing reviews/word of mouth but there's still the covid uncertainty that's going against them, the grim spectre of the TRRR incident not to mention the fact the park is at its smallest (with regard to ride offerings) in decades. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for Dreamworld to succeed, I've got a lot of nostalgia for the park and I don't subscribe to 'picking sides' with regards to the GC parks but basically what I'm saying is even if everything goes Dreamworld's way, they are still a long way off from being in a good place going forward.
  23. Anyone else think this part of the track is way too close to the footpath (assuming this footpath is accessible to guests)? Seems like a prime place for idiots to play chicken with a speeding taipan...
