Kinda weird that Sea World’s wild expansion ended up at a different park 10 years after it was meant to open!

How many air launch coasters are currently open? Most of them have been pulled down for very good reason they are well known for reliability issues If this was true Village wouldn’t be ordering new parts custom made from Intamin I would say they are committing to running superman as is for a while

I don’t live on the coast but I can tell you right now that people living in Coomera are nowhere near the same level of entitled NIMBY as people in lavender bay so the Luna park comparison is silly. Who is living in a multimillion dollar apartment in an inland suburb on the Gold Coast?

Both lsm retrofits so far (zamperla) by all accounts have had a lot of bugs since opening. Intamin can do these retrofits themselves as well not just zamperla so there’s a few options. Superman launch track is quite short and for a conversion to be on the table it needs to fit within the existing track layout (ie not require a swing launch), I’ll leave that up to Intamin or zamperla to figure that out. Of course with new vehicles that means new clearances so a lot more work would have to be done to adjust the envelope inside the building and when the ride goes in and out of the building during the course so that needs to be considered as well. Superman is the only ride at the park that in my view is worth retrofitting (along with scooby which has been done already). Everyone loves it even 20 years later, it always gets a massive line whenever it is open. Village would be fools not to look at it as an option and see if a conversion is possible, otherwise work out a replacement straight away and get the ground running because movie world cannot depend on rivals & green lantern as its only major thrill coasters for 3-4 years. Like a few other comments a new Intamin launch coaster would be perfect, but I’m aware space is a bit limited on that site so I wouldn’t mind a tilt coaster or a dive coaster. I could probably see superman running for another 3 years at least before any of this happens. The new parts should keep it running for a bit longer

Well I mean as recently as six years ago Dreamworld was a dump, losing shitloads of money and could have easily been sold off and pulled down for housing. Needless to say they’ve come a long way since 2016 we all knew it would take a long time for Dreamworld to win back the trust of the public, even nine years later it’s still not fully there. Take the little wins i am happy there are still 4 parks on the coast.

Thanks for this. On a quick google search this company comes from an area of china (henan province) well known for making rides that are cheap, extremely low quality and straight up unsafe by design. So unsafe that most of them are illegal in western countries. These companies don't provide after sale service that folks like intamin do. Lots of rides coming out of here cause injuries all the time, there's a fair few videos of the arms snapping in half on gyro swings that are going around the internet and nearly all of these installs have come from this area (video attached for more info) King Claw or any intamin ride for that matter are well built and supported by their manufacturer, have properly designed systems with multiple fail safes, are made of A+ grade steel thats welded properly and are expensive on purpose because of these things and more. It is a waste of time to compare it to the ride in saudi arabia because they are nothing alike apart from the basic design and ride experience. One ride is designed at the lowest cost possible at the expense of safety and the other is designed to be safe from the beginning.

Id expect it to be online start-middle December as schools end for the year, Boxing Day at the very latest. The testing and commissioning process will take a while given the extent of the alterations but they’ve had three years to plan for this. Running at full capacity from Boxing Day is a non negotiable

Of course not. Wizard of Oz is an MGM film after all. But there’s only so much you can license given Disney and Universal between them have almost everything covered so our parks have to make do with what they have. Dreamworks was never ever going to get renewed at dreamworld because universal would rather chew on glass than licence its own IP to a competitor no matter how far away said competitor is. Dreamworld could have had a bluey attraction in ABC kids world if they wanted to. Presumably the IP was too expensive and Disney gobbled up the rights for top dollar instead.

Id personally trim your expectations. Yes park opens at 9 but standby queues for Space Fantasy, Hollywood Dream, minion mayhem and even jaws can take a fair while (though tbf single rider for jaws is a cheat code, managed to get on it 3 times with a 5 minute wait each go). It’ll take you till lunchtime just to wait in line for those 4, no time to do other stuff. Universal is always busy. Went in December last year where it was freezing cold outside and it was a full house. I was lucky I went alone and could abuse the single rider line. Recommend rope dropping Minion Mayhem first purely because that ride attracts guests like a moth to a lamp, so do it first or don’t bother going on it at all. Don’t forget Waterworld (best ever stunt show at a park) or the sing show that are both really good.

Wouldn’t have happened because Village don’t have the financial and creative resources of universal to make rides of the quality of what is in the actual Super Nintendo world

Won’t be a new ride, not while king claw is actively going up. That will come later when dreamworld need to drum up annual pass renewals. Really hope that it’s not big brother. Lot of capex to rebuild facilities that you pulled down a few years ago. What if the show doesn’t get ratings and is cancelled after a couple of seasons like the last few attempts and you’re back at the 2018 status quo? A paid experience to climb up the giant drop tower would be very cool.

Isn’t all the land that the big brother stuff sat on being rezoned anyway? Coast clearly want to use that area for a different purpose that’s not for a reality tv show that doesn’t get the ratings it used to.

Yeah but some kids are going to be turned off by the very thought of roller coasters, even ones that don’t go upside down. Flight of the wicked witch might be too intimidating to some people who might otherwise go on west. Not all family attractions should be roller coasters, you need a mix, village has gone a bit too far into the roller coaster rabbit hole Ur comment has been answered to in detail already but the Lego movie and barbie isn’t going to be at movie world anytime soon for obvious reasons. Legoland exists and Mattel is getting into theme parks now. Don’t know the specifics of whatever contract village has signed but it’s most likely for specific movies as opposed to the entire library (for instance WB own the rights to the Harry Potter movies but of course the rights to that are with universal). Most likely DC Hanna barbera and looney tunes in their entirety are already covered. Honestly had no idea that adults could ride JDS as I thought the vehicles would be physically too small for them to go on. Probably highlights my ignorance of that specific ride as I’ve never been on it. As a concept I do agree it hits the nail on the head for kids (what kid wouldn’t want to go on little cars and drive around a street) but I thought it was a strictly kids only experience (that takes up a lot of real estate)

The problem with wb kids as others have pointed out is that 1) the land as a whole has barely been touched up in 25 years and 2) apart from road runner there’s not much to do for guests who find the kiddie rides boring and the likes of superman and rivals too scary 1. Remove the taxis and JDS 2. Move the maintenance area on the other half of the JDS building to another facility within the park (or build a new shed like at sea world) to free up space for a JDS replacement 3. Replace JDS with a family dark ride. Make it like a looney tunes take on the great movie ride. 4. Re evaluate all the existing rides except Marvin the Martian and road runner, remove the ones at the end of their service lives and replace with similar models. 5. Install a nebulaz as an extra ride to occupy the middle ground between the kiddy rides and everything else. Provides good kinetics at every park that has one. 6. Repaint and touch up all existing buildings, signage, and fixtures. This way you have 3 rides in the land that both kids and parents can enjoy as opposed to just one, with all 3 having a low height requirement. This should be the bare minimum because some families aren’t going to go to Oz or west or scooby. People with young kids spend a lot of time in that land on its own.

I agree and they'll get to that in the next 10 years. Still lots of rides to replace around the park. They need more flats first, back to where it used to be. You could comfortably fit a madhouse in the tower of terror station building that's still sitting there. Rivertown stage 2 ride anyone?

Gold coaster’s land could easily fit at least two slide towers on it. I’ve said for years it’s a prime opportunity to complete the water park. There’s a lot of land to work with. Thunderbolt can be used for both parks and should be. It would be very good for a lazy river (and indeed a lazy river has been earmarked there for a long time) but you can build a coaster on top of it. Lots of out of the box uses for that bit of land Valid point but anything new is going to be much cheaper to run than what they had. Purely on the basis of how conservative dreamworld’s purchasing decisions have been in the last few years Tower of terror, rocky hollow, and wipeout were all crazy expensive to operate because they were unique rides, ultimately their opex is why they all closed. Unless their endgame is a smaller park than what they had pre-2016, I think all of these rides that haven’t been replaced with anything will get their overdue replacements one day as more people show up (based on your assessment, taipan replaced Buzzsaw in terms of opex)

Huss are still making pirate ships today. Would be interesting if they bought one. Exactly the same model as the old one. It's a smart move tbf. Old school much loved ride being brought back.

Nah it's quiet, time to save money, even if that means charging people full price to get in. We can make a few extra bucks by getting people to purchase fast passes too

Little adventure world has so much room to build new things so this could be put basically anywhere. Rampage spot is open, so is where the castle used to be, and so is the pirate ship spot if you want to make a statement at the gate. They sorely need dry rides, they’ve lost two (might be three soon) in the last 10 years and gained one in that span of time. I’d love to see them get an air race or a screaming swing personally, inferno’s getting pretty old and a sky roller would work super well at the top of the hill.

I waited 2 and a half hours when I was there last year. Still thought it was a really solid ride, but agreed not as good as Mystic Manor having been on both. I can see why a lot of people like it, especially if you know all the songs (I didn't, but the preshow and pepper's ghost illusion were standouts) If one is pressed for time and want to do everything, then yeah the $20 is worth it, it's an elite dark ride. The park was reasonably quiet (for tokyo disney standards) on my visit and in 1 day I was able to cram in all the dark rides except for mansion, as well as big thunder and Splash without paying for DPA once. Yeah I rope dropped journey when I went, was the number 1 thing I wanted to do (because i was very unprepared with getting timed entry to fantasy springs). Best ride in that park hands down, and my favourite Disney ride so far. The usage of the test track system is elite. I paid for DPA just so I could ride it again at night. Unfortunately as a tall fella I missed out on raging spirits because the height cutoff is strict - such is life I can't ride Superman or jet rescue anymore without slumping my lower back slightly. Have heard the Disneyland Indy is poorly maintained compared to the Disneysea one so intrigued by the preference for california.

I’d cough up the $20 for a fastpass for beauty and the beast above the toontown coaster every day of the week. One of the best trackless dark rides out there in my view. Nagashima is from my experience rarely busy outside of the peak summer period. I also went on a weekday around the same time and the park was pretty much empty, so could do everything I wanted many times over. Hakugei and Steel Dragon are outstanding and don’t forget to do the classic stuff (unfortunately the 1st gen Intamin drop tower and shuttle loop they have was closed on my visit)

All of our parks should have universal style metal detectors to get shit out of guest pockets and avoid holdups in dispatches
