Whilst I agree that plenty of rides overseas have had accidents causing serious injuries & deaths, and remained open, there is no precedent for it in Australia. The ghost train fire took care of that ride, so the re-opening question never raised its head. Our media & the general public are much more sensitive to what's occurred than what would happen in the say, the USA, where they are basically desensitised due to the amount of violence & death that occurs weekly. Im sad its closing, but I have to say I agree with the decision. Removing nostalgia and history from the conversation, which you have to, I support it. I think with the ride still operating, the general public wouldn't, or would take decidedly longer to, trust the park again. From a PR perspective, it was the only option, and right now DW/Ardent needs to reassure its shareholders that the chapter is closed before more value is stripped from the company.

@Jamberoo Fan Tomb Raider has zero scope for a themed area, sure there is a new movie but it will always been a cheap Indiana Jones comparison. Annabelle? Permanent scare mazes? Why would they dilute their success for FNs and the revenue they raise? Fantastic Beasts - fairly certain universal owns sole theme park rights to the HP world & licences now, Hense the removal of the HP store. This coaster won't be anything but a DC themed coaster, it's a given and will simply be an extension of the current DC 'area' at the front of the park, likely with some form or shop/photo outlet at the exit point. Will be interesting to see what they do with the locker setup, whether it will be all in lockers like SE or boxes like GL -

Dreamworld Memorial & Reopening discussion

A bit more info here... The fatal Thunder River Rapids ride will be permanently decommissioned, while Dreamworld’s re-opening is yet to be confirmed. Ardent Leisure Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Deborah Thomas announced the permanent closure of the ride this morning. “Out of respect for the memories of Cindy Low, Roozbeh Araghi, Kate Goodchild and Luke Dorsett, and their deeply affected families, the ride will be permanently decommissioned. The closure of the ride is the only respectful and appropriate course of action". Ms Thomas also said that Pitt & Sherry, an independent expert engineering firm, will lead an external review of all rides and operating systems at Dreamworld and Whitewater World. “Pitt & Sherry are one of Australia’s leading experts in mechanical engineering with extensive experience in providing engineering and technical services for amusement rides and devices. “Pitt & Sherry’s review will be further peer reviewed by an industry leading global theme park safety specialist. “Dreamworld is also well progressed on an internal review of every ride in the Park, which includes reviewing all operating policies and procedures. “In addition to these reviews, Dreamworld remains committed to working closely with the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland team. “No ride at Dreamworld will operate until the Workplace Health and Safety Audit has been completed and unless it passes the multi-level internal and external review process,” Ms Thomas said. Ms Thomas said as soon as it is appropriate, the families affected by the tragedy would be invited to help create a fitting and permanent memorial to their loved ones. -

The park is officially closed, it would be somewhat insensitive if construction is going ahead at the front of the park whilst people were paying their respects at the memorial. It would also result in a ridiculous amount of negative publicity, something DW/ME cannot afford. We'll get an announcement today of staged re-openings in line with the rides being signed off by the safety audit team. No doubt once visitors are back in the park, Lego Store construction will ramp up again. -

I count 9 non DC rides and 6 DC... so DC themes are actually in the minority of the parks rides.. -

I don't think there is any doubt whatsoever that the new coaster will have a DC theme. Just my opinion though... -
Yes, that area is still in operation. yes that cleared land used to house The pirate ship. Corkscrew/Sea Viper was a little further above the area of your photo if my memory serves correct
-
Castaway bay - boat ride where people on the shore Spray water at you whilst u do your best to wet them back, and a sky fort/ropes area. Water park would be below it on the photo

You're an angry little merkin ain't you. I picture you to be like a cranky Chihuahua, new on the block and trying get noticed by all the bigger dogs, so you are doing your best to make a lot of noise. That's all good and fine, you have everyone's attention. Now let's see if you can accept a life of normality here and integrate or if you'll forever feel like you're out of place and little dog syndrome will stop you from enjoying your time here and annoy the crap out of everyone.. -
Just re-read my post and want to apologise for the ridiculous amounts of grammar errors, my iPhone is going crazy with predictive text changing words since the last update (if changed to is and vice versa). Need to proof read better before posting! Sorry!

@jjuttp no sure why you would even consider doing DW without ToT2. Understand not doing GD is height is the issues but ToT2 is a no miss. Your plan for DW seems little jumpy for mine, re-tracing ground that probably isn't required. If you are there for opening, i'd be knocking off ToT2 first, then tracking back to Panadmonium, TS and then along Ocean Parade (HWSW, WO, SW, Claw). I'd hit RHLR at lunch when lines drop a little, as they'll be your biggest wait on a hot day. Don't think TRR will be up. Billabong well worth it. also think your MW planned if flawed from your first choice. You want to hit Arkham first, one train in peak is a nightmare, maybe even do your re-run immediately, then into SE. If you have no interest in HWSD then his SDSC whilst it's on and pulling most of the family crowd out of the park. You left DD & the villains area off too.

It's not a harsh forum, we just have a good nose for sniffing out BS, and no *wink* or "I was joking" follow up post makes bogus initial posts justified or ok. As for speaking our minds, is that not the entire point of a discussion forum?? -
You mean what already happens in every single parade??

We also have no confirmation or even rumblings of AHS being involved. Don't get me wrong, I've called for MW to go hard for the AHS license for a couple years, but to be successful it has to be a collection of the best scenes & character from the entire series of shows -
I don't think WWW has ever particularly been marketed as a full day park, given it shares a boundary with DW. with the signs pointing to a potential single gate for both parks at some point in the future, with WWW operating as a world/area within DW, its even less so.

Except you are in a volcano instead of a subway station, and on a boat instead of a train. But yeah, I agree, the differences are minor... There becomes a point where spending money to fix something becomes a lot less viable than replacing it. If the motor dies in my 10 year old car, I can replace the motor or spend not much more and get a new car that will last me 10+ more years rather than a few extra. If upgrading my car also brings about positive press and hype that increases people coming to my house to check out my new car, making me money, I end up in the black.

Agree entirely with @Zanstabar Friday the 13th is far more ingrained in pop culture and horror lore than Tate Langdon. You are forgetting the vast majority of FN's visitors are Teeny boopers, not necessary horror fans. The only series I think you could base an entire maze around would be freak show as the theme itself is fairly generic. -
One near miss doesn't define a company with years of experience in delivering safe, fun rides.

2017 for Gold Coast Theme Parks
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Woah there... Firstly, who's angry? Secondly, who's assuming anything? There is tens of pages of talk about the coaster if you can bother looking for the thread and catching up Thirdly, my 4 year old makes YouTube videos. I've even seen Dogs with channels. The fact you've posted a video on YouTube doesn't mean you know what's going on, it just means you know how to use a computer or smart phone. Finally, you currently know jack all as a rookie poster here, and what I mean by that is, unless you have some valid information to share that is in some way validated, you know as much as all of us that do or do not know anything, and either choose to or are bound to not sharing. -
2017 for Gold Coast Theme Parks
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well I'd like to see a coaster or flat added to every park in 2017 and I'd say there is a better then fair chance we'll see something new at SW & DW to go along with MW's hyper. I dont think anything will top MW's coaster. They've got 2017 already tied up for the win. SDSC is fine. MDMC has had its obscure VR upgrade so they won't be touched. The Log Ride could use a re-theme or some sort of refresh. I'd expect we may see some changes, even if only cosmetic, given it's likely to be DW's only family water ride moving forward. Vikings has been discussed quite heavily in another thread Hey, just because they've put the footings in doesn't mean they're going to build it a coaster... maybe it'll be a walkthrough attraction on the development of footings... -

There's no way they'd do a maze based on a singular season and choose the first season that aired almost 6 years ago, that the majority of people either would never have seen or would have forgotten about. -

@Intimidator305. regarding SW becoming the largest theme park in Australia, that was the typical GCB media rubbish, and was brought up with regards to the casino project being lobbied for the Spit alongside SW. Some Braniac at the GCB decided that if a casino is built next to a theme park it automatically becomes an extension of said theme park, which on footage would make if the largest theme park. Whilst I have no doubts the consortiums propsal would do wonders for SW in terms of visitation and ease of access, I highly highly doubt there will be integration between SW & the casino short of a shuttle bus between doors
