  1. I call absolute BS on you sitting in the station for 30mins waiting to get 20 people to want to go on the ride. I was at the park on Sunday and whilst it wasn't 'packed' it certainly was a fairly busy day. Overemphasising much??
  2. We made it to the 2nd story top story on the GCBulletin website! Theme park retro ride rumoured to return to the Gold Coasts doyenne of theme parks, Dreamworld Dreamworld could be about to bring back and old favourite. FANS of 1990s Gold Coast theme park rides could be in for a nostalgic treat. Online rumours are growing that the doyenne of Coast theme parks Dreamworld could be about to revive one of its biggest attraction from days of yore the Eureka Mountain Mine Ride. According to theme park fan website Parkz.com.au, there are signs the venerable ride could be set to thrill park goers again. The site claims rejuvenation work on the classic rollercoaster-style ride has been spotted in recent weeks and that while the exterior of the ride has decayed the ride system itself remains in relatively good condition. Its a claim Dreamworld declined to confirm or deny, with a Dreamworld spokeswoman instead saying it was a very interesting rumour. We cant say that its true, she said. But we can say we have very fond memories of the ride. It was a particular favourite of mine as a kid. The ride was opened in 1986 and was closed more than eight years ago. http://m.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/theme-park-retro-ride-rumoured-to-return-to-the-gold-coasts-doyenne-of-theme-parks-dreamworld/story-fnj90t7b-1227222953748 We're famous! Hahaha
  3. Surely the time would have expired by now then? It's been what, 8 years? 90% of people who go on the ride wouldnt know Mick Doohan if he was in the queue next to them. He hasnt been relevant for half a decade.
  4. Surely that is minor and not worth a mention in a half yearly report ? New attraction as opposed to update/renewed/refreshed/upgraded tells me that the V8 attraction will have nothing to do with redline at all
  5. Interesting only one attraction mentioned, despite 2 'big' attractions planned
  6. This was talked about in another threads just yesterday
  7. Think you'll find that everytime one engine goes down on a 2 or 4 engine airplane, no one notices except the people in the cockpit, unless of course said engine has smoke billowing out of it. It does no become newsworthy. I'm sure there are plenty of times a morning safety check at any park has flagged an issue and it is resolved prior to opening, has delayed opening, or resulted in a closure. We would never hear about it, nor do we have to. I suspect the only reason this has become news worthy was because someone posted it here with a stupidly sensationalistic headline, a couple of the bottom feeder Facebook pages read it here and posted it, and it snowballed.
  8. 1 scheduled maintenance and 2 unexpected and presumably major/detailed maintenance concerns I'd call that unlucky and wouldn't be lambasting the park for it
  9. Agree Alex & Slick I did leave the 'night' events out, Which granted are massive positives with no real competitive offering from DW. In out of hours events, it's a no brainier. I guess the point I'm getting across is to a general member of the public, not an active theme park enthusiast, DW APPEARS to be adding more attractions than MW, even though as you pointed out well Alex, it really isn't the case when looked at realistically. Now given that the public hold that opinion, why would DW not continue with what is working for it, and adding 1-2 minor attractions each year that generate a heap of press & attention from locals. DW is already viewed as the only FULL day park on the coast, and when they are already talking about 2 new attractions to open this year and not a peep from MW, they will continue to strengthen that thought in the publics eyes.
  10. Movie world have installed one major attraction in the 9 years since SE opened (GL). They've opened 3 minor attraction (JL, mini cars & BWSS)and re-themed LW/AA. So that's 1 major & let's say 4 minor attractions. I'd hardly call that regular basis for major rides. In the same time period, DW has opened buzzsaw, Shockwave, MDMC, tailspin, Pandamonium, Refreshed TOT & wipeout, and opened the Dreamworks area. Whilst none of DW's rides may be considered major, you'd say that's probably 8 minor attractions in as many years. The enthusiast may say quality over quantity, the general public see quantity as the winner. (And I'm not too sure the DW doesn't win out on quality either on overall scale) Don't quote me on it but the last figures I recall seeing a while back had them fairly level pegging with DW marginally ahead at around the 1.3-1.4 million per year
  11. Because in most cases, multiple smaller capital investments will have the same if not more impact on revenue than one large project. You may be happy with a one off $20m ride and then nothing new for 3-4 years, but the average consumer (and annual pass holder) wants something every year. Back when ToT was built the market and visitor profile was very different to what it is today
  12. Ardent sold off some of DW's land to Westfield's/QLD State Govt for development of the Town Centre which may explain why it is linked into Ardent
  13. I'm not an architect, an engineer, nor do I work for the council. All I know if when I've checked the PD online area for GC council I've used the DA link to search. What you have just posted is clearly from a section I'm not looking in, where/what links are you using?
  14. But details don't have to be made public like a DA. It's why you'll find Green Lantern public but nothing about Arkham or Mini Driving School. If they utilise an existing space that has previously had a DA over it, it isn't required to go thru the same approval process
  15. Which is often the case hence why we often don't see them appear on the DA site
  16. There is audio in the station, And if I remember correctly on the lift hill. Only one train
  17. Closed until the 19th would means it's open again on the 19th imo..
  18. a crack could have been found in the track, one of the brakes or lift chain could have a fault, the train itself may have had an expected issue - any of these could cause a week downtime
  19. so that means someone almost fell out due to a restraint failure?
